Subaru: Official Escape Vehicle of the Zombie Apocalypse?

I'd like to see how well that Subaru would hold up against a horde of 100+ zombies beating against it.

I'd say the "official escape vehicle" should be more like an Abrams tank.

ugh, this debate is looong settled

I think not. When you are surrounded by a horde of zombies, and your only option is to plow through, that WRX isn't going to be the vehicle of choice.

I'll take my truck. Put the transfer case in 4 hi and watch the zombies splatter on the front grill. :D

This.

I'll tell ya right now, if there's a zombie apocalypse, you sure a shit won't survive in a Subaru....give me a break.

This is an excellent point, however, the Abrams tank is a very poor choice IMO.

For one, its far too loud and the track performs poorly on pavement, the primary gun is far too large and limited in ammunition for zombie hordes, the visibility is poor, and its interior quarters are far too cramped to live in, and the range is very limited requiring far too much diesel on each dangerous stop to refill.

An armored personnel carrier like the egyptian Fahd used by the UN is a far better choice. You can fire out of turrets ports from safety out the sides, the 30mm cannon and machine guns are better suited to a variety of targets, it has a really long range of 450miles between stops, it fits up to 12 people or just a few with a mattress inside, and the dual purpose tires are quieter and more reliable and give you a healthy 60mph highway cruising speed.

Since we're talking about zombies and all. I guess I'll answer with I'd drive around in this.

or a boat?

a ) zombies cant swim

b ) fish for food

Thanks for playing
Depends on the type of zombie, in some where its just a virus that causes hyperrage and hunger, the zombies can still swim. Frantically, but they swim.

More importantly, you'll die of thirst long before you die of starvation, and its not as easy to fish as you'd think and a pure raw fish diet will make you very sick (otherwise sail ships in the past wouldn't have bothered to store months and months of food for the voyage), and its hard to weather the storm in a sail boat and you'd still have to stop for fuel regularly if its a gas boat.

Land offers more or less unlimited resources since you can survive off of the decay of society and the land indefinitely.

I love my STI :) Maybe not the best survival car, but a blast to drive.

This 120mm shotgun begs to differ. See description in first video.

This yacht , years worth of canned food and water (plus seeds, portable water desalination system, etc), females, beer. Than just drive to some remote island and party for a few years. Come back out when they're weak from lack of food and resupply. Might not have to...lol

Meat is the only thing I'm really lacking in this...maybe Noahs ark the yacht with some animals and breed them before killing (eating) them. There is just no way some zombie is going to travel thousands of miles in water so...party on.

I would obviously hide in my computer case. Plus, its nice and warm in the winter.

Subaru's make great cars. Very reliable. Their WRX and its STI versions have always been kick ass.

My used '94 turbocharged WRX grocery getter. Had this when I lived in Japan for several years. Loved the car.

Once you drive a WRX, you become a fan forever.

Makes sense.

Not even zombies want to be in a Subaru.

That's because they have no brains.

The best car I ever owned was a 05 Legacy GT. Damn that car was awesome. Drove like on rails, awesome ski car, hauled ass in the dry. Easy to tune.

You'll live half as long in your truck because you'll get half a far when you run out of gas.

He may only get half the mileage, but he has a fuel capacity twice or more that of the Subaru. While having more storage, better visibility, and while not as fast, it is better suited to pushing through a crowd of Zombies. The Subaru is still a great car, just not my first choice for the apocalypse.

In any case I am sticking with a wheeled APC of some variety myself. My pickup will get me to the nearest military base, APC stuffed with MRE's, a few m-4/203 combos, ammo, extra fuel cans, an elecric pump + hose for sucking diesel out of gas station tanks, and towing a full water buffalo. Then I am heading north and hoping the damn Zombies freeze solid/die off in the winter.
