Street Fighter 4 Thread

You guys need a new hobby!:p

Let's not thread-crap please!!

Does anyone have personal experience with the HRAP3 on here. I cannot stand to wait until April to pick up the TE stick. But the lower profile and wider layout is nice. I was thinking about picking up the HRAP3 and putting some Sanwa buttons in...but the TE seems almost too good to be true. Thoughts?

I've heard the HRAP3 rocks. I was lucky enough to pick up a SE Fightstick. I love it. a friend gave me a JLF that I installed in it last night that improved the stick 100%.

Here's a quick unlockable list of the characters:cool:

Akuma:After unlocking Sakura, Dan, Cammy, Fei Long, Gen and Rose, Fight him on arcade mode, to do that, Get at least 2 perfects and 2 Ultra Finishes.

Cammy: End the arcade mode with Crimson Viper

Dan: End the arcade mode with Sakura

Fei Long: End the arcade mode with Abel

Gen: End the arcade mode with Chun-Li

Gouken:After unlocking Akuma, Sakura, Dan, Cammy, Fei Long, Gen and Rose, Fight him on arcade mode, to do that, Get at least 2 perfects and 3 Ultra Finishes.

Rose:End the arcade mode with M.Bison

Sakura:End the arcade mode with Ryu

Seth: End the game with all the other characters

BTW which version is better?? The PS3 or 360 version. I am trying to decide which one to keep.

From what I've read, there isn't any variation. However, I would say that the PS3 sales are above the X360 according to intial sales. So I'd imagine more people will be online on the PS3 than the 360.

Probably because online play on the PS3 is free and the D-pad on the PS3 controller is far better than that plastic abortion on the 360 controller.

Got the game last night and it was a blast. Still need to unlock characters and learn the whole fight system. Other than that I can keep up with the good guys... I think :p

Gamertag: Eggroll735

I believe you can get Akuma, Gouken, and Seth in other ways, too.
The guide says you get Akuma automatically after winning with every character and once you have him, win the game with Akuma to get Gouken. Win with Gouken to get Seth.
Granted it's likely easier to simply play through and get them the other way...you can do this way too.

LOL.. I agree its FLAMING GAY.

OMFG! As I watched the intro, I thought "this song is not bad". After playing for an hour, I searched the menu for an install option because of slow load times (PS3 version). So I started the install to my HDD and went in my room. That freaking song was playing on loop. It pissed me off, and I slammed my keyboard in a fit of rage and ran to mute the TV.

Controller was certainly a decision of mine. The D-pad on the 360 makes me want to punch someone.

April? Are they making more?

Yes, you can still get your name in on specific websites.

Like I said, I thought about picking up the HRAP3 and throughing in new buttons, but dang, the deck height is near 5" compared to the TE 2.5"....that seems annoyingly high.

just an fyi Barnes and Noble still has them in stock.

Is that where you ordered yours from? I was about to purchase last night, but I saw BnN was acting as a front end for Gamestop - and Gamestop has been back ordered for awhile (at least as far as I know).

man they should give you the option to set your own intro song to the game....that song does not set the tone of the game AT ALL....I swear my front lawn started sprouting flowers and mini rainbows showed up everywhere.....not exactly the kind of tone you wanna set when kicking someone's ass with a 10 hit combo...

Edit: Other than that the game is awesome.....Guile is my fav character so far....

Same parent company, likely same distribution channel, maybe even same stock.

I called my large local barnes and noble and they dont sell any video game stuff in the stores.

You can order online but they get it from Gamestop, and last i heard gamestop/ebgames were no longer taking orders and were back ordered, ive been looking like crazy for just the regular fight stick which is 80 and its impossible, i have a order at amazon for the fight stick but says it wont ship til Feb 28th.. I'm too impatient!! GRRR!!! if i could find it in stores or get it quicker id cancel my order but so far thats all i got.

You cant even order the sticks on amazon anymore either so *shrug* sticks.

Define "EPIC" lol

Which websites? ;)

i dont know, not sure yet maybe epic = beating the arcade mode on hard difficulties.

all that means is you can recognize patterns, silver trophy. :p

i know what you mean though, it's nice having a match against people who only might be able to link zangief's ultra from a focus.

i don't even know if that's possible, i'm pretty wet behind the ears when it comes to this EX stuff.

edit: i've only managed to get to unlocking dan, going for whoever he unlocks on medium. it took me way too long to figure out Seth's pattern... i'm ashamed. :D

edit 2: the CD soundtrack is most certainly epic.

In the case of the last few SF games, the CPU difficulty has been almost uniformly difficult no matter what setting you have it on. I haven't messed with it in SF4, but I definitely remember that in Hyper, Remix, and all of the collection games that the CPU is *always* hard.
Some characters are also better than others against the CPU.

Based on what he's asking - I'd say that anyone who has continued to play SF for the last 8 years might be epic :)

if you guys wanna unlock the main characters faster, you can set the difficulty on very easy, change to 1 round, and tada...

What do you guys think the hardest special move is to execute, from Street Fighter 2?

I would so much rather play against people that are a lot better than me. Better replay value.

I think the two hardest to use reliably are Cammy's Hooligan and Fei Long's chicken wing. With Zangief's piledriver moves, you can always jump or do the motion while executing a standing attack.
With those two, you have to go from down+back to up+foward VERY quickly because the moves are designed to jump over projectiles on immediate reaction. If you're not crouched and ready, those are a total hassle...hence in HD remix they changed how you do them.

I need to practice double qcf motions on stick...
the cost of using a pad for SF until now is hitting me now.

Who else here gets their ass handed to them on medium difficulty? I can get to Seth on easy but he constantly kicks my ass. "easier" is about where I play with ease.

Overall, I'm enjoying this game much more than SC4 and I'm a huge Soul Calibur fan..

only using certain characters unlock characters
-Cammy = End the arcade mode with Crimson Viper

-Dan = End the arcade mode with Sakura

-Fei Long = End the arcade mode with Abel

-Gen = End the arcade mode with Chun-Li

-Rose = End the arcade mode with M.Bison

-Sakura = End the arcade mode with Ryu

-Seth = End the game with all the other characters

-Akuma = After unlocking Sakura, Dan, Cammy, Fei Long, Gen and Rose, Fight him on arcade mode, to do that, Get at least 2 perfects and 2 Ultra Finishes.

-Gouken = After unlocking Akuma, Sakura, Dan, Cammy, Fei Long, Gen and Rose, Fight him on arcade mode, to do that, Get at least 2 perfects and 3 Ultra Finishes

Chun-Li's combo. WTF! Why can't I get it to work. I tried for like an hour today.
you got to hold (charge) back (or you can hold crouch back) then move the pad/stick forward, back, forward in a fast motion

Do you think people on this game are cheap?

Guys seem to do the same moves over and over.

Man, the focus attack seems like such a sweet addition to the game. It's not quite parrying but it'll do.

As with Street Fighter since it first appeared so long ago, there is nothing in the game short of some glitch (Zangief's "Screwdriver from Hell" in SSFII would be one, Guile's "Handcuffs" from the original SFII would be another, etc) that cannot be countered - even if it means taking a hit to do it.

Sad to say that a ton of people hopping on the bandwagon with SFIV may not have had the experience a lot of us have and the "Science of Street Fighter" when it comes to the background on the fighting system it has (with slight mods for new versions).

The primary reason it's been so popular for so long is because of that fighting system and the fact that nothing is absolute in terms of power. I had to adopt the attitude a long time ago that either my opponents were going to fight - it is called Street Fighter - or they were going to get thrown all over the place when they made the attempt to be a "Street Turtler" (and I know that's not a word but whatever).

If your intention is to crouch and defend constantly, you're gonna get tossed... :)

I haven't had a chance to get SFIV working just yet, someone asked me to fix a RLoD issue with their X360 and it's turning into a little mod project with RAMsinks and a chopped GPU heatsink so far, maybe with some fan mods as well. It's an old X360 made in August of 2007 so yep, it runs freakin' smokin' hot and has probably been returned to Microsoft 2-3 times before he got it as a refurb. It ain't goin' back to Microsoft anymore, that much I can assure him... :D

But, I should have it resolved in the next 2 days or so along with other projects I'm working on, then I'll see what the fuss is about. Never played SFIV in the arcades either - I stopped playing Street Fighter when SF3 came out, piece of shit that is is/was (this coming from a diehard SF2 player including the Alphas).

I hope it's worth all this...

And just as a tip (and a new post so it doesn't get lost in the last one above from that Joe Average guy... hey, wait a second...) ;)

If you're serious about this game, and a serious fan of Street Fighter, the Prima Official Strategy Guide is a worthy addition to your SF paraphernalia... they do make some damned fine guides and this one is no exception.

No, I don't work for 'em but - as a diehard SF fan and player since day one way back in 1989 - I do appreciate the amount of work that goes into creating such a fantastic piece of work as this guide is.

"We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread, already in progress..." :D
