Steam Frame

I'm really surprised we haven't seen 3rd party kits yet. It isn't much for the relatively high price being asked.
There are some individual items for things like the hand straps sold on Amazon; not sure about the head strap, but I'm sure they'll come in time. I think the original Valve Ergonomic Accessories Kit, like most other Steam Hardware and accessories basically had a much higher demand than Valve's original projections (something they've said about not jut the Deck, but also the Steam Controller and I'm pretty sure Steam Machine too after the launch of each). I'm sure they figured that Index users would want those features and rightly so, but perhaps they believed that other users desired them less? Given how Valve was aware of feature/design language of other inside-out VR platforms like Meta Quest or Pico, perhaps they thought that a good amount of players would not be used to / need / want them? In any event, I guess its up to how quickly/how much they can restock and/or users will seek out third party alternatives, be they 3D printed or professionally crafted.

I am curious if Valve has plans for additional official (or at least quasi-official, like the Arcturus Vision being given official Frame compatibility) accessories. It would be nice to have an official case+lens protector with room for accessories, especially if it can be charged while closed (come to think of it, they could really use the same thing for the Steam Controller) . While I expect there to be software optimization and enhancements for battery life, I can imagine that Valve would want to give an official "Made for Frame" blessing to some extended battery solution,. One that I particularly hope Valve takes direct interest within is whole body tracking. Pico for instance has the "belt" style motion tracker, and since Valve's previous whole body tracking solutions were primarily Lighthouse based, the new inside-out solution would ideally benefit from a whole body movement solution beyond just what is done with HMD and controllers. Especially if the controllerless hand tracking implementations continue to be refined; there's already some pretty solid work done, Valve putting effort into standardized and open whole body motion capture would seem on brand alongside the revival of interest in VR.

You wear glasses? As part of your prescription it will say what your IPD is. That's the IPD you use. As I said before, there is no dialling in your IPD. If your IPD is 64, for example, it's 64 on every headset and doesn't change if you use a glass spacer or anything else. It's a fixed value.
It wasn't written on my prescription from a year or two ago , (just sph and the like) so I've basically manually determined it myself but leave a small variation for potential error due to lack of sophistication vs official measurements. Next time I go in I'll ask them specifically to document the IPD on the prescription given this usage. That isn't the majority of the tweaks that I usually end up doing with HMDs, which typically has to do with tightening and positioning the strap fixture points correctly across different positions (ie for awhile, displays were more likely to turn off when I angled my head down lookng towards my feet etc) balanced against the likelihood of glasses coming in contact with the VR lenses.
