Okay, I am still looking for people who play very often, 1v1 practice or team games. West coast timezone. Anyone else looking for a buddy to league up and practice with in games?

Add me: oblisk#285

Please add me if you play regularly, I am having great difficulties in getting friends to play together regularly and is available most of the day... :( :(

Hey what league are you in now? If you want some PvP help let me know

I haven't been on much the past couple days (home for Christmas) but feel free to add me since I usually play a couple games a day during break. kencheeto.308

I should be back online on Sunday or Monday (26/27th)

Well, that was fun with lobski. We got pwned by the cheese though. Won some, lost some. Ah well.

Had a great time playing some matches with deluded, I even managed to rank up to Plat in 3v3 from Gold!

Yes, same. As I've told you in the game, you're pretty good, and you should play more league games to rank up instead of UMS maps ;)

Oh, and stick to your best race, not random :D:D

For which? I'm in Dia 1v1, Plat for 2v2 and 3v3 and Gold for 4v4. What's your realid?

Lol, I honestly can't decide between races! I like terran because of the overwhelming firepower they have, toss for their collosi and immortals (my fav units, by far) and zerg for their mobility. Hard to choose between them. :p

HO HO HO! SANTA IS BRINGING ZERGLING STOCKING STUFFERS FOR CHRISTMAS IF YOU WERE NAUGHTY LITTLE BOYS AND GIRLS!

Unfortunately, everyone from hardforum is instilled with high moral fibre

Happy holidays Starcraft Superhumans

thanks for the.. uh.. vote of confidence Decko :)

hurray! Hoping to break 2k diamond before the patch/reset.

So a friend and I played what is, for us, probably the most epic game either of us has been a part of. We're both gold level so I'm sure it's packed with more than a few mistakes and odd decision making, but another friend that spectated said it was great fun to watch.

Figured I'd post it here so people can poke holes in my play if they want to :p

It's a 48ish minute game that isn't really decided until I believe sometime around the 40 minute mark, and we end up with bases at all but one position on the map.

I was hoping to break the 2k rating too, but after my exams etc I just lost the will to play. Damnit, when I'm bombarded with work I want to play games, when I'm not.. well... I don't have that big of an urge to. :(

whoever is that fella that nuked our bases in 4v4, you still owe me 50 probes... lol.

So I just got the game for Christmas and started playing through single player. I would like to eventually get into PvP. Anyone have any pointers? I was pretty good at SC1 days (I thought :p). I mained with Terran but could play toss or zerg also. So far I'm just trying to get used to all these new units and what they do/are good against.

I might try a few pvp games here and there but will probably wait to get into it after I finish the single player.

Terran is the most starter friendly race imo.

learning how to macro will help your long term skill potential. learning how to cheese / do all in builds will net you wins in the short term until you run into opponents that know how to stop it and then you'll need to learn how to macro. that's the theory for prioritizing learning how to macro at least.

I believe protoss is the most starter friendly. Just because of the sheer power the units have. Mastering protoss however is another story.

Protoss macro is the most beginner friendly and even if you build nothing but gateways + cyber, you'll have a well balanced army that's easy to produce at low levels.

terran is easiest to learn. Protoss have all sorts of buildings for upgrades and combinations of spells to use.

Terran is more simple. build marine, marauder,
upgrades: get stim and concussion shells
support unit: get medivac, throw in a raven for lulz

if your opponent gets some good ground forces, get tanks, if they get air, get vikings. if for some reason the game is still going on, get battle cruisers.

Both Terran and Protoss are friendly for beginners. You will get owned early game though if you dont know how to use force field. You could always skips sentries and just make zealot/stalker as a beginner.

I'll agree with intel_hydralisk on this one and say that protoss is probably the easiest to learn macro wise. The probes do not have to be present while warping in the building and its easy to mass out probes. That being said I still recommend beginners to go terran because its easier to defend and "turtle" early in the game with marines as defense. The units and buildings are also easier to get a grasp of since they have common names.

I hope you're being sarcastic.

Protoss does not have all sorts of buildings for upgrades lol. They need a forge to pretty much give all ground army upgrades, and cyber core for air. Aside from "spells", they are pretty much the easiest as far as upgrades go.

Looks like a fun game. I think you could have done a lot more damage with your mutas in the early / mid game. You left them sitting there for a pretty good while whereas you could have been harassing / sniping off tanks. I would also have taken a third rather than adding another hatch in your base, but that may just be user preference.

Mid to late game, you definitely had enough bases up for solid hive tech but I don't think you got there. Ultras / infestors would really put the hurt on that MMM army.

Nice tech switch to hydras though.

Yeah, I have a tendency to stall out on tech when games get hectic. I've tried working on it but I'm beginning to think I'm doing almost as good as I'm going to.

It's cool though, cause the games a hell of a lotta fun anyway :D

So I played a couple "n00bie area" games online (1v1 and 2v2) and won them both Neither of them were even close really. Although in the 2v2 game one of the opponents DC'd. =/

I think I still have a lot more to learn, but if I win like 10-15 matches in a row in the noobie area I guess I'm gonna venture out into the ranked areas and see how I hold up.

Speaking of which, anyone gonna be around around 3pm CST today to give me a good ass whoopin? I don't like getting my ass kicked, but I do like watching the replays, see what I did wrong/right and play again. :)

^I haven't played in a few weeks, but I'll play a game or two with you.

Hey North, I haven't seen you online in SC2 in a while, we should all play.

@ Deluded: Still here? Didn't see you online last night :p

Bonksnp, I can be your practice buddy, what is your email or realid?

Yeah, I've been busy with Steam sale

Terran and Protoss are both "beginner friendly" in their own ways.

Zerg is obviously a completely different thing. I don't think there is enough APM in the world to truly master playing them.

I guess my realid is Bonksnp? (thats your name in game right? I'd rather not put my email up here)
I'll add whoever when I get home from work (should be about 30-45 minutes

It is the spawn larva system in my opinion. Make some tweaks to that and it would be a lot more beginner and apm friendly.

It's your name plus the character code.

My internet likes to fuck with me every now and then. Sometimes I'll have hours of perfect internet, then followed by hours of sporadic connection and disconnection which is impossible for gameplay.

You remember that game when I got dropped out? That was the beginning of that sporadic drop out.

Sigh.

Reminder: GSL Open Season 2011 is on gomtv right now! They are taking a break right now, will be back in about 10 mins.

http://www.gomtv.net/2011gslsponsors1/live/

Additionally you can now buy a ticket to watch all VODs after they're up for $10, just have to suffer through some ads. In previous seasons it was $20 for your first season and $15 as a repeat buyer.

I find this well worth the money as I'm usually sleeping during the live broadcast and I like to watch the video full screen at 720p.

I played a lot of SC1 but didn't really follow the eSports scene at that point. What is wrong with Blizzard maps that other map makers do so much better? I've played some ICCup maps and like them but didn't see what made them so much better.
