OK, so my local gamestop "ran out" of beta keys, and our Amazon in Canada doesnt have the deal. Does anyone have a friend invite they would be willing to share? I would love to get in on this but Canada blows for this kind of stuff. THey always under-estimate their market / audience.

Has anyone else quit getting a robotics facility? I really don't get them any more, I like four warp gates to templar much more. Or 3 warpgates and a Stargate. Zerg almost never get roaches any more vs. Protoss so I never really bother. I usually scout with hallucinate now, and if I notice them getting a lot of spine crawlers i'll get a Starport and start making phoenix's with chrono boost. Mix in a few void rays to take down the spine crawlers and it's over. I'm just having problems with the Zerg early game, even going 10 gate doesn't seem to cut it against masses of zerglings and banelings. Also my blocking seems to get ruined even with hold position they manage to sneak their way around.

Heh, we should play sometime Decko! That's great news. If you are really 11-1 I'd like to get schooled a few times to find some loopholes in that strategy of yours

They know how to scout, I'm just good at stopping them and hiding my tech. Clearly we've never played together. I still lose to zerg all the time, but I typically beat the FE muta strategy that consists of a lot of spine crawlers. Every zerg I play now is top five gold or better, they all scout but I can block ramps and shoot down overlords early with ease. My opponents aren't "terrible" and they all scout well, thats a hasty generalization.

I can see that doing pretty decent. Void rays keep their charge even changing units... i think thats pretty OP.

Yeah it depends, you can't get air against zerg if they're going hydra heavy, but storm mixed with zealots and force field is decent. Stalkers are okay, but for the cost i think a zealot sentry mix is better. If you screw up your force fieds you're pretty dead. PSI storm is crucial too. The only time I get Colossi any more is when they're going really roach heavy at first then switch to hydras. But even then it's really dangerous to get colossi because of the threat of infesters. I like getting hallucination against zerg and spoofing colossi with HTs doing the real damage.

What determines whether or not you move up a division? Right now my roommate and I are rank 1 in our division in 2v2 gold - he said that you have to wait till the end of the day to see, seems kind of strange.

Also, what determines if you move DOWN a division? A friend of mine who had NEVER played SC before got into 1v1 gold after going 4-1 against similar complete noobs. He got moved down to silver in a hurry.

In a similar FLUKE, I got into the platinum 1v1, but since my friend moved down after losing a bunch, I thought I'd try the same but now I've moved up to rank 23 in my division .

I just finished my 5 placement matches, and the people I lost to I want to friend. I tried going to match history, picking the the match, right clicking the name, and adding friend, but my friends list is still empty. Do they have to accept the request or something?

I lost a couple of times to few plat players then won a few times against bronze and went from Rank 30ish gold 2v2 into rank silver 2v2.... dunno why what or where. System is weird.

I think you have to accept friend requests before people can friend you.

I've just opened my friends list, clicked add friend and manually typed in their name.identifier and they always when on my list.
Maybe some function just don't work yet, it is beta afterall

When you add a friend, it is transparent to the other person. They aren't aware of it unless you actually message them. This is kinda bad right now because you can add well known players and spam them with whispers while they're in a game. Hopefully dnd will get implemented soon to prevent that, though.

dnd has already been implemented, just set your profile to Busy and any messages from outside your party will show up once your game is over.

Strange about the beta agreement appearing. No idea there- might be a good idea to submit feedback about that. As for the adding friends, I know mine usually works but occasionally I'll play people and try to add them in order to see their profile- sometimes I have the 'add friend' option which doesn't do anything. Everything is greyed out, so who knows.. I'd bet on it being a bug.

You can set 2v2 against another AT (arranged team) ,but not against a RT (random team). So..

AT vs AT -yes
RT vs RT -yes
AT vs RT -no

Although, waiting times can vary since most users just start up a custom game to play with their friends on the same team

Actually, if you're playing as an arranged team you can get matched up with random teams and vice versa. Kinda bogus as arranged teams are (obviously) easier to coordinate, but good for the sake of MM speed.

Yep, ranked. About half of the 2's I did last night were against random pairs. Was actually pretty simple to tell, since their strats are much simpler.. my 2's partner and I are developing some more complex strategies to capitalize.

Ha that's awesome. I play mostly terran and am in gold currently. If your having trouble against protoss and your needing to transition into something else after a failed attack/stalemate, make some ghost's. Their EMP blast can really mess them up. With that said, don't just make ghost's, tanks are pretty good with them but can be kind of a bitch on gas. To save some gas you can cut out/down on marauders and just make marines for support/anti-air.

Going banshees for a shift can also be decent. A lot of people so far won't add additional detectors after the first clash.

I'm on campus right now so I can't actually check, but its plat ~2x i believe, and we're ranked 10~15th last I remember. I'm in 2v2 rando plat div 5, but my partners are usually awful. One guy I played with made only zealots the entire game and when I suggested he tech, he said 'TRUST ME' and demanded we would be fine.

2's overall are pretty relaxing though. Took my partner and I some time to settle in our level and not get crushed/crush every game, we've been consistently getting 30-40min games even with plenty of cheesing going on.

I agree with 2's being very relaxing.. definitely not as high tension as when playing 1v1, because if you lost.. you know its your own fault
