Is it me or did they get rid of infesting terran buildings? I know, in SC1 it was generally useless in multiplayer, except to kick your opponent while he's down, but there's something terribly horrific yet irresistible (like passing a car accident, for some) about the idea of infesting another species and mutating them into mindless drones. The new Zerg infestor unit just spits out infested marines, perhaps a viable strategy, but there's no joy in that.
I wish they explored that more.. if not in multiplayer, then maybe the singleplayer campaign.
I believe I recall reading they were removed, but infested marines and banelings kind of took the same role. Its a bit sad, but for gameplay mechanics and balance it makes far more sense.
From what Ive read on SP - its completely unlike MP...so I wouldnt be surprised at all to see thsoe kind of mechanics in the SP. =)
Thanks! Good things to know...
Whats the terran answer to void rays?
I have sadly resorted to the help menu at times to figure out the best counters to units. Luckily this is beta haha.

Haha. Yeah, I dunno, unless they recently updated that information its probably best that you ignore it. Some of the things like stalkers countering roaches, I mean, really?
terran vs terran
maybe its the bracket I am in, but in terran vs terran what I see used against me almost all the time at the start, without fail, is a banshee rush to snipe workers
Because of this it forces my hand to build static turrets as I would rather do that than conserve energy on my command centers for detection, until I can get out a raven, but often, even with the precautions it leads to losing a few workers. Annoying. And almost certain tactic from other terran. I never use it as I never rush. Ever. I should, there is an entire side of my gameplay that is underdeveloped, but there it is.
On a side note, I just got more invite a friend beta keys!
Zealots countering marauders in my mind is even more hilarious. Any skilled played knows that marauders always beat zealots. Stalkers are actually a soft counter to roaches, but based on cost, they're really not.
Would love to play this *wink wink* especially with all the new parts I ordered showing up soon.
Still have never received my opt-in key for this. My account settings have been updated and correct for months too.![]()
The zerg play differently. The main thing is you have to make sure you get your spawn larvae spell of on your hatcheries on a regular basis or your unit production suffers. Unlike the T/P which can store and burn macro energy all at once zerg have to use it on a timer or it does them no good. The other thing with zerg it that you need to expand alot more.
i just got an invite for the sc2 beta from a friend.
problem is im on a macbook pro with an 80 gig ssd so space is an issue. i already have vmware for my windows needs, but no bootcamped partition to play in. i have a 160 gig ssd on the way, but i'd rather not bootcamp since i already have my vm all set up.
i was wondering if i'll be able to d/l the mac beta when its released from battle.net?
On a side note, I just got more invite a friend beta keys!
I am really terrible at this game. I was watching some vids and stuff. Just seems like too much. Too much to learn and adapt to and I don't have that kinda time anymore.
Mac client is out
I'm most certainly impressed with the BETA. The graphics are excellent and game play is at least on par, if not better, than the original SC with expansions. AI could use a little bit of work on the toughness front but other than that I'm quite happy with it.
