So why can't I download SkyRe with NMM? Did Dawnguard break it or something? I get "file does not exist" when it tries to start.

So why can't I download SkyRe with NMM? Did Dawnguard break it or something? I get "file does not exist" when it tries to start.

It is probably due to the Nexus getting overloaded: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/news/158/

Mods that will be added to the list:
Daedric Crossbow
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22113

Bandolier - Dawnguard
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22119

aMidianBorn Leather Armor
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22065

This one I will probably not add as most ENB presets will likely incorporate their own sunsprites when they update to v.117:
Better Sunsprite for the V117 ENB
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22127

Download manager is working great again. fyi.

ENB how to install for anyone wanting to pimp the game to the hilt!

http://enbseries.enbdev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=499&sid=551f4616520268cfcf4c8edf1f769cfa

If you know the basics of the ENB files, you can manually update an ENB preset that is designed for an earlier version. For instance, Unreal's is for v.113 but you can manually update it to v.117 (sky lighting and true sun lens flare). Just throwing that bit of information out there. :)

On that note, what happened to Unreal's ENB download links? :(

I was looking at that thread the other day trying to find a DL link. Looks like he took them down.

I've tried about a dozen or so ENB presets. Are there any for 114 out there? I've only seen one.

AFAIK, v.114 mainly added sky lighting which you can easily add to a v.113 ENB preset. Just transfer over the new dll file and add the couple of new enbseries.ini lines. I think the lines are:
[SKYLIGHTING]
Quality=
FilterQuality=
AmbientMinLevel=

I'm pretty sure nothing else was modified besides those two files. v.117 adds lens flare and maybe more in the future, so I imagine it follows a similar upgrading path. I haven't looked at v.117 yet though.

Edit:
More mods that will be added to the list:
Enhanced Crossbows Enhanced
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22210

Water Arrows And Crossbow Bolts
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22234

I need to shorten the list before I can add anything more.

since i got my 670 i decided to remod skyrim from scratch.

so far ive added about 70 mods just to making the game look pretty and the 670's perf has blown me away. i remember that mythical 8192 shadow settings in the ini that would bring my 6870's to their kness and drop me to like 8fps runs fine on my 670 can also use ENB lag free ect.

i need to figure out what gameplay mods i want now heh

Unfortunately my GTX 260 no longer can handle the game with ENB. It's pretty much unplayable, single digit FPS. I'll have to play without for the time being.

I've tweaked some of the files a little bit. Most of it confuses me though. I'll give Beautiful a try.

here is a mod i made awhile ago if anyone is using light armor

it makes most of the clothing craftable at a tanning rack using linen wraps and also craftable versions with an armor rating once you get the elven smithing perk.

alot of the heavy armor also has a light version craftable but those require myhtril ingots to make.

Light Armor Clothing + Additional Light Armor
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/15568

this mod shouldnt conflict with any other mod.

and if you make any texture changes to the original armor or clothing it will put those changes to all the craftable pieces in this mod.

I'll see if I can fit it in, Wildace. I really should've reserved another post when I made the thread as that would've solved my space issue.

Another nice looking crossbow:
Dragonbone Crossbow
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22303/

Edit: Added your mod in, Wildace, and the list is all updated. I moved the Misc category to the second post to make space.

The Realife ENB seems to do a nice job and is download/execute capable without doing any more work than with a normal mod if you want to try it. Just DL and activate.

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22056

Looks good. I had to use a different palette, night time in towns was too red/orange for me. Now I wish it had some film grain to it, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to apply it. I've tried coping and pasting bits of code from other presets with no luck.

What do you mean download/execute capable? It looks like it is packaged just like any other ENB mod.

All of the other ones I have tried take additional steps outside of the manager to get working? Or am I missing others like this one? It is the second enb I have seen like this. Sharpshooters is another but I prefer this one so far.

I fixed the CTD at startup that I was getting. Turned out to be the bashed patch that WryeBash created. I created a new one and all is well.

Hi Guys, I don't post here often but after reading this thread I really want to purchase the game. The information here is overwhelming but first I want to ask you guys if my system (see signature below) can run this game? I think I just want to do the texture and weapon mods and go from there. I've been playing BF3 since it came out and my system handles it pretty well. Thanks in advance!

Is that 5870 1GB or 2GB?

It's 1GB :( Thank you for this thread dj.

1GB is still good enough for visual enhancing mods as my GTX 470 was handling the game pretty well at 1.28GB.

Some things that worked for me with my GTX 470:
Download the 1024x resolution versions of the large texture packs (you can also mix/match the high res and low res versions if you want to give it a try). If you use ENB then you'll likely have to trim it down as SSAO + SSIL + DoF will likely be too much for the card. Mods like Realistic Lighting have little/no performance impact.

Weapon mods are usually light weight since there aren't going to be 100 weapons on the screen at once unless you are stockpiling or leave weapons laying around. This mod might be the most demanding since it uses very high res textures on common weapons:
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/1754

And I will try to order the Visuals category better this week since it is quite lengthy. Basically, I will add subdivisions like "NPCs" and "Sky". Of course, it depends on how much space I have before the post size limitation comes into effect.

I'll purchase the game this week and will likely need a lot of help from you. I was contemplating about buying this game since I still enjoy BF3, but after reading this thread I was convinced to buy. In the meantime I'll continue reading this thread to learn more about the mods. Thanks again.

Cool looking armor. Added.

Will be added later:
Footprints
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22745

Unique Taverns
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/21553

Nightingale Crossbow
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22741

Dawnstar Expanded
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22644

Tundra Defense
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22330

Might add:
Siege CrossBow Collection
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22706

Unique taverns -- excellent! I hate when places reek of copy + paste =P

And footprints were definitely missing from the original game.

Now all we need are more quest mods. :)

I did find this one:
The McMiller Chronicles
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/21367

I haven't played much of it but, so far, it is enjoyable and hasn't caused my game to crash. The voice acting is quite good too.

So i finally took a whole day to start from scratch. A fresh Skyrim install with all the trimmings.

Your OP made this a lot easier than it would have been, so thanks again for doing that, dj.

I was amazed to see the Quest section of the OP had quite a few solid entries! Epic!

However, it doesn't have the performance it used to, and i'm not sure why. I did change to Sharpshooter's ENB instead of Realistic Lighting w/ Customization, but the lag i'm having is when loading stuff. My FPS is solid when just standing around, but if i start walking or turn around too quickly, it'll start hitching like a motherfucker. I rolled all my texture packs down to the 1024 versions, but that didn't seem to help.

I didn't see any performance INI tweaks in the main OP. Are there some things missing? Like, i remember having to do the 4gb LAA patch on the exe before--is this still necessary?

Can't figure out what's going on... i know my CPU is weak, but my buddy has a similarly weak one and his game works w/o a hitch.

I have both Warzones and Wars in Skyrim on, and i believe one of these are causing a random crash when there are too many NPCs trying to be loaded. Maybe this is causing the hitching as well.

Any thoughts would be awesome, as i can't stand to turn viewdistances down any more than they are, but that doesn't really seem to help anyway.

Tweaking the ini isn't very useful in regards to performance or much else. LAA hasn't been needed since patch ~1.3 as they patched that in.

Yes, Warzones and Wars in Skyrim are known to cause crashing since they greatly increase the amount of enemies. I recommend turning them off and testing out a new game to see if the hitching continues. If so, try disabling ENB and see if that helps.

If you're running a GTX 460 1GB, then I do not suggest texture packs above 1024 unless they are for weapons or something that isn't used much. Do you have something to keep track of your VRAM usage?

Hey man, thanks for the quick reply <3

Nice to hear about ini tweaks being unnecessary, as they're not much fun to do lol

What do you use to keep track of your VRAM usage? I had a program before i switched to the SSD, but don't remember its name. I was hoping that the SSD would show a noticable improvement in loading new zones and stuff as i'm walking, but it didn't seem to matter. Probably hitting my VRAM limit or my processor isn't good enough to handle Wars/Warzones.

A co-worker just brought this up--would a BASH patch potentially help?

There are some good ini tweaks like adding shadows to trees and stuff, but not a whole lot of performance tweaks that simply cannot be done in the Skyrim Launcher menu.

I use AIDA64 to measure VRAM by having it display on my G15 keyboard's LCD.

I think a bashed patch would be helpful for the Warzones and Wars in Skyrim mods as I'm guessing they both edit the leveled list. This might eliminate the crashing you've been getting but it is difficult to know with Skyrim.

Probably the best thing to do when it comes to troubleshooting the hitching/stuttering is to disable ENB and see how the game plays. Some ENB settings are very demanding.

Here's another question... what do you do in cases like Lush Trees, where it comes with its own texture file that seems to overwrite Skyrim HD's tree textures?

I have a feeling i did them in the wrong order because the LOD trees are a different color than the ones around me, and as i get nearer, they pop in and change color... very annoying.

I'm not sure as I personally prefer Vurt's Flora Overhaul as his textures look the best to me and I think he includes the LOD files too so they match up. I forget if I installed Lush Trees before or after Vurt's.

On that note, it looks like a new version of Vurt's has been uploaded (I see that I never hit the tracking button for this mod). :D

There are some tree LOD mods out there, such as:
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/4834
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/194
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22125
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/21694

Another good quest mod - will add to the list later:
Aethernautics - A Space Travel Mod
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/23260

Okay it took awhile, but i finally got my textures sorted. I had to disable EVRYTHING and get my order figured out, then install it all in the right order.

I did Lush Trees before Vurt's. It looks grand now.

The cause of my lag was two-fold:

1. The HD Texture DLC from Bethesda caused lagging when it was loaded from the BSA files. When i switched to regular texture files from SkyrimNexus, it helped a lot of the stutter.

2. Improved Skyrim Thunder and Project Reality - Climates of Tamriel are not compatible and were also causing stuttering. I removed Improved Skyrim Thunder. I'm not sure you have this in the OP, might be worth adding.

I still have random crashes, but now my game is smooth and looks excellent. Still using Sharpshooter's ENB too. I'm going to get BOSS tonight and maybe put together a BASH patch to troubleshoot the crashes.

Thanks again for your OP (which is just so nice to use and browse) and your help!

------------------

Oh right i had a question too: Do you know of a mod which allows me to easily poison both my main hand and off hand? Currently it's a pain in the ass.

Also: Has anyone got the Claralux mod to produce natural looking lights? The ones it puts in are way too bright and yellow. I tried using the config files for it, but they just crash my game. ---- After reading a bit, it looks like i can do some console commands to change the settings without messing with files (and thus potentially causing save-game corruption).

What do you do if already have save-game corruption? I believe i have some orphaned scripts from the Immersive Carriages mod (which is badass BTW), as i have a couple flipped carriages.

I don't know the answers to the other questions but not much can be done with a save file that is corrupt.

Assuming it is Immersive Carriages causing the damage:
1. You can check to see if there is a special way to uninstall Immersive Carriages. If not, then the best method is usually heading to an isolated cell (coc qasmoke works well for this), perform the clean save procedure, then wait 31 days just to be safe.

2. You can try to keep the Immersive Carriages mod active and that will stop Skyrim from constantly seeking those script files (unless the mod was updated and removed those scripts).

3. You can try resetting those affected carriages with a console command.

4. You can revert to an old save file before that mod was added.

I'm not sure if there is anything else that can be done at the moment.

By the way, by Immersive Carriages do you mean ScenicCarriages? If so, then there is a uninstallation guide in the mod's description that should stop all scripts from the mod.

Here are some mods I've added to the list (or soon to be added):
Glorious Ravine
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/23397

Better embers
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/23352

Thrassian Plaguesword
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/23350

Aetherium Aetherial Swords
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/23413

Into the Depths
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/23087

Unofficial Dawnguard Patch
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/23491

This game is the most technically frustrating game I've ever played.

Skyrim tends to run fine as long as the user is very careful of what mods he installs. :)
