Skyrim Modding Megathread

t-bag a dragon = awsome.

Why does that dragon have paint on its face? Or is that sealing wax. Maybe he was writing a letter?

That blood looks really unnatural, is what I'm trying to say.

I can't find which mod is causing my game to crash in a specific spot (near Riverwood). I disabled all my mods and I no longer have the crashing. So I activate the mods that I don't suspect to be the cause of it and things are fine. I enable the one or two suspected mods and the crashing returns but now when I disable those two mods, the game still crashes in that spot. Any tips?

You gotta leave the area and make a new save before you remove them.

The test saves are two cells away from the crash zone.

Edit: I think I finally found the cause (or the game may just be fooling me again). I disabled Birds, Lanterns of Skyrim, and More Carriages and after several test runs, I have experienced no crashing. Hopefully it stays this way.

Edit 2: Nope, crashing again. I give up.

Others from my downloads folder that I've installed

I thought adjacent cells get cached. Maybe need to clear cell buffers or something.

Are cells purged after the player exits Skyrim (among other ways)? With each test run I restarted Skyrim and loaded the test saves (each time I load a save I restart Skyrim before I do so). I should go to an isolated cell, deactivate all the mods I can, do a clean save, reactive a few mods, test, reactive some more mods, test, and so on. The problem is if Skyrim is only crashing sometimes then I can be fooled into thinking it is one mod but later find out it isn't, thus reverting back to step 1. Much too time consuming.

I tried running through that area today with a save that has several more hours of playtime on it and things were fine except when I ran back from Riverwood the game froze but didn't CTD like last time. So I'm not sure if it is fixed or just morphed a bit. Riverwood has always been a troublesome location for me. Last time this happened I made a new game and all was fine so maybe some bad data got saved.

ive got a constant crash issue when i travel from a cave to the east of white run to white run.

about 3/4 of the way there is 90% crash rate the other 10% i get to white run and its missing 80% of its walls and i can walk right through the whole city without using a gate.

i reinstalled the game and then started to use the nexus mod manager and starting going through my 150 or so mods.

the Elvenwood mod turned out to be my issue i think. still doing more testing tho.

There are a few mods that deal with dragons specifically, such as Deadly Dragons and Mighty Dragons 2, though they do more than just add health. As for adding health to all enemies, I haven't seen a mod like that.

Thanks for your replies. That is bad there is no such mod (adding just health to all mobs), I am no modder but it should not be hard to make. Well, maybe it will be made later on.

Wars In Skyrim has an option to level the mobs above you. You might try it out.

But that would still make the enemies output a higher damage, right? Much like what the difficulty bar does in Skyrim's menu.

I still cant wait for an AI mod so that you can't glitch out almost every fight. That alone will make the game 10x more difficult.

They may still put out higher damage. I haven't really messed with it.

That would seem to restart everything but I really don't know. I guess Skyrim doesn't have the 'pcb' console command like previous games?

i started a mod if anyone is interested in it. its my first real attempt at doing anything.

Light Armor Clothing.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1115446

This Mod lets you craft clothing at the Tanning Rack. Most recipes require Linen Wraps / Leather / Leather Strips. Under the Elven crafting section section/

Also Adds Craftable Linen Wraps to the Tanning Rack under misc. To Craft a linen wrap you will need 2 Tundra Cotton or you can loot Linen wraps in most ruins where you would normally find zombies or skeletons.

This mod is a Work in Progress i will be adding more clothes to it when i get them done.

Nothing gets replaced in this mod everything is stand alone so it shouldnt conflict with any other mods.

So far i have the armor rating for the clothes on par with Elven armor.

Added Clothes as Armor So Far
Monk Robes
Monk Boots
Chef Apron
Chef Hat
Archmage Robe
Archmage Boots
Bar Keeper
Begger
Blacksmith
Circlets "Are at the Smithing forge under Elven same stats as elven helmets"

Elven Crafting perk is required to craft them.

I would tie in a weight reduction to the linen wraps, I hate carrying those things around since the weight goes up quick.
Currently "The Art of Magica" uses linen wraps for clothes also.

i didnt want to modify the linen wraps in any way so it wouldnt conflict with another mod that might mess with them.

I wanted to make sure this was compatible with almost everything.

and i made sure the recipes only ever required 1 linen wrap with more focus on the leather you might need.

But a real alternative to picking up a ton of the linen from a dungeon is you can make them from 2 Tundra Cotton which is quite plentiful so you can carry alot of cotton and make your own wraps when you need them.

The tundra cotton is a really good idea. The Lever's tower did something similar with bone meal. He created an actual working Mill to crush skulls to make bone meal.

Anyone have any recommended mods for skyrim to enable more diverse key bindings? It would be nice to have quick keys to select weapons potions and/or spells instead of having to hunt through lists and favorites.

Hi, new to Skyrim here. I searched this thread and noticed back in Feb regarding the topic of using nexus mod manager or steamworks. It seemed that Nexus mod manager was the favored method. Is this still the case? or has steamworks gotten better?
Thanks in advance.

Extra Hotkeys was the go-to mod for awhile, but searching the nexus i just found GRHotKeys, which was uploaded on April 7th, so it's pretty new with only 8 endorsements. But it has this much-needed gem, though i haven't tested it:

GRHotkeys Description said:
Magic can be released only by pressing the hot key, without changing equipment of both hands.

I don't use NMM but I much prefer Nexus to SW. It has more features and allows a higher amount of control. If you want the easiest method, then I guess SW is for you. Otherwise, I see no reason to use SW instead of Nexus.

i use both.

i get the mods i can off the steamworkshop.

but i launch the game using the NMM its much easier to set your load order and move mods around in the list with the mod manager.

i search the workshop for mods first then if i dont find what i want ill head to nexus

I'm using a Dues Ex playthrough to hold me off another Skyrim playthrough... but damn dj, all these mods are making it so tempting! The longer i wait though, the beefier the playthrough will be!

Has anyone found a perk overhaul they really like? I tried a couple last time i played, but never got to the really good stuff like Necromancy AOE Plague and such.

It is a good idea to wait until the current mods are more finalized and for the larger mods to be released as Skyrim is very sensitive to mod updates/changes (plus official patches can cause problems with mods). I never thought I'd miss the days of how Oblivion worked with mods, but Skyrim is so damn finicky. For instance, unless I start a new game, I cannot play with that train mod as it just CTD when I enter Blackreach. A lot of quest mods do similar things to me. It's like if a mod conflicts ever so slightly, the game crashes. Of course, making a new game fixes this somehow but I hate making new characters in TES games. All that time finding/sorting my items and decorating my house...

So yeah, wait if you can.

I haven't tried any perk overhauls yet. I haven't tried a lot of mods that I would like to due to being scared of possible conflicts causing crashing.

Yea that sucks. I remember a few mods that i had to start new games on, which is why I've had like 4 mid 20 characters... my highest char ever was a lvl 32.

Lucky for me though, lvls 1-15 or so are my favorite in TES games =P Not sure why, but damnit i love being a noob in beth RPGS.

i actually havnt finished the main quest line yet and ive owned the game since it came out.

my highest level character was about 40 and the farthest i got in the main quest is the thalmor embassy lol
