Skyrim impressions

If they did mention "infinite quests" then they probably meant exactly what you're complaining about right now - and to expect anything different is pretty...I dunno...dumb? After beating all of the big or important quests what else would you imagine would happen? Bethesda isn't gonna provide us with free daily updates full of huge main quests and new content :p
It's exactly what I expected but came much sooner than I expected.

Perhaps I'll murder everyone in Skyrim and see what the Nightmother comes up with afterwards. :D

Skyrim Highlander mod. Just be the last one left. There can be only one! Tons of RP potential, but it involves talking to yourself constantly while you kill computerized characters that aren't laughing with you. Someone's probably already doing it and planning on youtubing it.

Quick question: can you acquire more than one wife in Skyrim? because, if you can, I'm-a be covered in bitches...

Also, my wife 'set up shop' and I couldn't actually find where her shop was.... is she hooking!? lol j/k.

Sorry man, but she is. But your gone so much.....

Loving this game. level 12 now but i have a stupid bounty on me and the guy im suppose to deliver some false documents tells me that i have to either pay 1k of gold, got to jail or fight him. i chose to fight him but the bastard wont die. He simply cannot die even if all his health is gone. probably because his part of a quest objective :(

I got the bounty when i was in some "inn" getting the original documents fom the Stormcloud people and they guy wanted to fight me so i killed him plus the owner of the "inn" LMAO.

i had a message popped up saying i have a 40 bounty on me but it then later said i have killed all witnesses so i though im good to go :)

i guess not :(

im working for the imperior crew. my plan is to earn their trust and then kill the general/leader and take control of imperior. They are the ones who try to kill u in the beginning of the game. Is that achievable? My mate said he took control of whiterun in a similar fashion.

I wanted to respec because I made some weird choices. Anyways I used the console to do it (player.addperk / player.removeperk) and I got creative and skipped one of the branches to get a perk one level ahead (twin atronachs) and the game got very unstable. Crashed almost anytime I entered a door/portal/fast travel. Went ahead and filled in the middle perk and all is good now. Well I still get the occasional crash just because.

Makes for some adventure.

it is amazing how much this game feels like Fallout...which isn't a bad thing, just amazing.

The skill tree thing confused the hell out of me for a while also. I have a feeling I am going to end up with a very under powered character who is going to get ass raped mid way through the game.

Yes, but those two are the easiest to get, at least in my experience. Unless you've been walking through bear traps.

NPCs will say it for any disease or poison and I think if you haven't slept for a while. Next to health(used very very rarely anymore) Cure Disease is the biggest potion I use, carry and refuse to sell.

Tried all the factions? Bard's college? Radiant quests are hit and miss. Sometimes they work out fairly well and sometimes not so much. Apparently most of the Companions quests (even parts of the final main quest) are radiant quests.

Companion line was silly and a fast quest line. Bard's College was fun for the first quest then stupidly simple and easy for the rest of them

If you want some kinda long and fun quest lines to run you can do the:
Daedric, Divine and Masks quests. There is also The Crown of Barenziah quest, be warned if you do not grab the stone in the embassy for the main quest you WILL NOT be able to finish it.

Only one. Sad thing is with mine is the last 3 or 4 times I've been to the house we live in, she hasn't been there

As I own every available to buy house in the game I now get to go check all of them plus the shop I met her at in Riverwood.

On a side note I made one of my big Skyrim goals last night. All my weapons and armor are at Legendary status! I think my next goal is to add frost and shock(if i can do both) resistance to my shield and I'll be fucking unstoppable.

I must be dumb or something but how do you even trip off a "get married to someone" situation?

Once you return he horn to the grey beards.. Did anyone catch what the grey beards said about one of the previous emperors if you ask them about being dragonborn? I though that was a nice touch.

p.s. 2H sword vs axe.. the sword has better perks, but the axe looks way cooler and has better animation.

I'm only using a sword because it has a higher damage rating/lower weight than anything else. But out of the three I'd say the warhammers are the best due to the perks - I think ignoring armour consistently would be better than a crit chance. But then I don't know how the NPC armour works, so maybe not.

I think, since armor leads to damage reduction, but criting leads to much more damage and not all the creatures out there have armor, so you will crit everyone, while not everyone wears armor. Plus the sword is quicker.

Anyone run into the bug that doesn't let you advance the Thieve's Guild questline? I completed the first quest and turned it into Brynjolf, who told me to talk to Maven, but she doesn't give me any quests, and Brynjolf says he's busy and I can't engage in convo with him. Any ideas??

you have to talk to the priest in Riften and after a few lines of dialog about marriage he'll offer you the 'Amulet of Mara'. then while wearing that, you can propose to lots of NPC's (wish i would have tried a goat, but sadly i only tried one girl). i thought the whole in-game-marriage thing was a little ludicrous at first. i changed my mind when i read that your wife will open up shop and give you 100 gold per day, and you can also trade with her which is pretty handy when you get into town late at night and don't feel like waiting for shop keeps to open up. i married Ysolda in Whiterun. it feels geeky just typing that.

100 gold per 1 in game day, it stacks to 2000 gold and after that it is wasted.

Side note:

I don't like how dialoag options for flirting and stuff are hidden until you're wearing some stupid amulet, nor how it's all locked away until you talk to some guy about love... imo you should have had the ability to flirt with anyone, but i guess that's more dialogue to write and voice.

As it is, the dialogue in the game in general feels weak, as it doesn't feel like anything you say matters one way or the other.

Most NPC interaction only has one outcome, dialogue is rather linear and unrewarding.

Coming off a New Vegas playthrough had me a bit spoiled as far as dialogue and world interaction went.

you guys make money. I get tired of lugging around looted armor and weapons so I haven't been making as much... maybe I should craft more.

You don't really need that much money. My first char I just ended up selling things to vendors even when they had 0 gold (this still levels up speech btw, which is why I did it) and still had way more money then I needed.

Selling loot actually isn't the most profitable. Crafting potions, followed by improving weapons and then selling them makes money. The only limit is the how much the vendors carry.

Should I take the Masque of the daedra or the Rueful axe as a reward? I don't use 2h weapons... Thanks.

The former is more useful. You can compare the stats on UESP wiki.

It would also be considered the more "moral" choice if you are wondering about RP reasons.

Honestly the most useful is actually not finishing the quest and just keeping your follower.

Ok to the douche canoe(who will remain unnamed) that sent me a nasty PM about posting in the PC thread and not a xbox360 thread. I'll say it again.

Fuck off and die.

Reason I'm using a 360 for gaming, it was a gift from a close friend and as is I can NOT afford a gaming computer. I've been posting in this thread because I love gaming and I'll post where I want when it is relevant to the thread, regardless of the platform I play on. Besides don't forget your playing a PORT of a platform game :p

That being said...

I know on the 360 there is an achievement for collecting a number of the Daedric items. In order to get that you need the 2nd item. I have no clue if there is anything like that for the PC ver or not

Does anyone know what ini setting causes shadows (especially on rocks nearby) to look all zig-zaggy and crappy? Honest to goodness, I don't think the bazillion ini tweaks for Bethesda's games can be mastered.

How do you fill up soul gems using the soul trap spell? I know you're supposed to cast the spell and then kill the enemy, but nothing seems to happen. I've been trying it on Falmers and no good. Do you have to be holding a soul gem in your other hand?

Bahahaha! Somebody actually told you not to post here because you play the game on your 360? JFC! I love my PC as much as anyone, but for chrissakes what is wrong with people?? Tell him to get girlfriend. Or... you can maybe...uh...give us the first and last letter of his name and we can tell him ourselves? :D

Falmers might require a higher level soul gem than you have on you.

And no, you don't have to equip the soul gem or anything (you can't). It just has to be in your inventory.

Yeah, someone who apparently didn't have the gonads to say it where we can all see it. I ended up keeping the masque of the daedra, I'm not super concerned with achievements. Thanks for the help, all.

Is there any tricks to doing melee combat?

Specially people with shields? I know this sounds newbish but coming from just using gun this is new to me. Does it matter how you are moving when you attack? Like should I be reading what the enemy is doing with their weapon and attack accordingly or just swing away any way I can cause the combat is random?

Specially the enemies with shields, they seem to just block everything.

I am sure archery is a bad way to go as well but I am really only using it unless I end up in close quarters.

Also really enjoyed being flung into the air like 4 miles by a giant....at like level 4

Yikes, don't fight a giant at level 4. I was in my early level 20s I think when I finally dropped a giant. But it took some doing, I guzzled all my good potions and still almost died. Lydia, however, DID die.

Melee combat in this game is laughably bad, don't do it.

Hmm, I rather enjoy the melee.

It's more enjoyable than a lot of the alternatives. Whenever I played Oblivion I was always a thief/archery style person. This is the first time I've used a melee character and it's more interesting than sneaking and one-shotting or getting detected and backpedalling whilst blasting fire or arrows for every fight. The quick reflexes style block perk makes it even slicker.

I didn't mean to fight him, I was just exploring and ran into two of them way west of the first town up by some rock thing. They didn't attack me at first so I assumed maybe they were nice cause they were standing around in a warp-able location. I walked past them no problem, and then as I was leaving, they went red and I went WEEEEEE

with the archery I only use it for long/medium range and sneak attacks but after that I go melee, I don't want to deal with the back pedaling everywhere, which I do sometimes but not all the time.

Ok so lately i've been getting really laggy, stuttery, skipping frames kinda of gameplay. It says i'm getting around 45-60fps in game, but it feels more like 20.

I don't know if its because I installed some simple mods, or since the update, or it just happened randomly and I can't figure it out. I think I might have to reinstall, I removed mods and verified my game cache and it didn't work.

I've searched for fixes but the only thread I found was this that sounds like my problem
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/115099-13-skyrim-stuttering-firstperson-view

Any ideas??

Already had mouse smoothing at 0, and turned down my graphics that doesn't help at all. It's def not my hardware.

When did you start noticing the problem? That should boil it down for you right there.

The patch just came out yesterday. Were you having these problems before yesterday?

What mods are you using?

What they're saying in there is as good of guesses as anyone is going to come up with.

The one thing that people haven't mentioned lately is that the game does have a memory leak and I don't know if that's been patched yet or not.
