Silverstone 1000w

mine is in .. powers my rig great .. not loud

my one complaint is how short the 8 pin motherboard connector is kinda short .. on my evga 680i board the power connector is in the top right corner .. and in my tj09 .. the psu is on the bottom .. no slack at all to hide the cable .. it barely makes it

I think thats more in fault of the case or mobo design if you ask me. I too have the same issue, I do have some slack, but not enough to route the cable :(

I have a 680i and a TJ07

Please tell me you didn't pay that price!

I just placed my order so we will see how it goes. More stores are starting to stock these on their online shopping carts (frozencpu for example) but they are still OOS.

Reason I went with oneeyedata: JONNYGURU coupon :D

$269 SHIPPED FTW!

EDIT: I just noticed on the PSU pictures, the PSU is using a rare type of power input cable instead of the standard type power cords. Is this just a prototype picture or some european version? Last time I remember seeing power cords like those were on some pretty fancy switches. Kinda makes me worry as you would always have to carry the right cable with you. Any one care to shed some light on this?

I wish I would have noticed this deal; missed it by a week; had to get ST85ZF instead for $220 shipped. Ill wait till the next deal.

Yeah... 9" long is hard to figure out without the use of a ruler. :(

Can someone tell me How loud are they? Scale from 1 to 10 the Silverstone 1000psu
thanks

I'd put it at a 5 out of 10 in loudness, not loud enough to bother a silent enthusiast but also not silent that you wonder if it's there or not.

these power supplies are starting to get ridiculous. we live in a day and age where energy conservation should be becoming a primary endeavour of the human species - and here we are sucking wattage down like its the antidote

its time for these video card companies to slow down and start making more efficient products.

Yep.

Thanks goodness a PSU only puts out what's asked of it. :D

yes but we dont ooooh and ahhhh at efficiency so much as we get all warm and fuzzy when the manufacturers give us more watts. most posts are about that, not conservation.

there is one article on the first page in this forum on power savings, how gadgets contribute little to it. of course these are probably onboard graphic card dells. shouldnt make us feel too much better.

i am mostly guilty as charged as well.

Fortunately, the efficiency on this unit is very good. :)

II certainly welcome an 80-85% efficient 1000W over a 75% efficient 500W. :D And there's certainly plenty of the latter to go around. ;)

Is there any reviews on this great power supply yet?
I am waiting to get one but I was told it might be 3 to 4 weeks

I took the plunge and ordered the psu and it will be here around the
1st or 2nd February. The price was $459 but with a bit of huggling I got it down
to $396.:D

Could we get some more pics up here in this thread? :D

I am curious to see the PCI-e connectors. They looked ugly as hell on Newegg, but i spose I can always sleeve them...

Its a tossup between this PSU, the Tagan 1100 W, and the BFG one....

Of those 3.. Go with the Olympia. The BFG and Tagan are both topower. Pass on that.

Can someone tell me whats the difference between these
three and what are they for, because I couldnt get an answer
from my other thread thanks.

Quad PCI-E 6pin connectors ( Are they for Graphics cards)
Dual PCI-E 8pin connectors ( Do not know)
2 x 8-pin EPS12V connector

8 pin EPS: This plugs into your mobo, and it powers your cpu's.
PCI-E: 6 pin, for current video cards.
8 pin pci-e: For future video cards. Allows more power draw.

I bought one of these 1000w jobs. What a great unit. Fits well inside my TJ09 case too. Glad I went with a large case.

i just put mine in finally after about 2 weeks of it sitting here.

i went from the zues 85zf to this one. op1000.

initial impressions.

its a fricken psu. wow my computer is soooo much sick faster now bro. i cant believe i can overclock to 9,8 ghz! im pwning n00bs with a mad quickness now! thx silverstone!

yeah, right anyways.

its a FEW db louder than the zeus. NO BIG DEAL. i mean a few like possibly 10 db, and the zf85 is dam near silent. i reason for the noise is of course because the fan is mounted on the rear to actually work as exhaust instead of criculation. the zeus fan is mounted internal on the topmost section. so the actual fan noise is inboard on the zeus and outboard on the olympus.

the op is about 2 inches longer and you REALLY notice that. i have a silverstone tj07. not a small case by any means however its barely short enough to miss the middle drive cage. i might be able to take some pics of clearance issues if anyone really has a question about it.

physical notes aside. lets take a look at what actually matters. cause this isnt an item youll install and notice a single bit of difference unless you have a ton of problems with power atm.

voltage.

op1000
advertised ratings.

12v+ 80 amps PEAK 88 amps
12v - .80 amps
5v+ 40 amps
3.3v+ 30 amps
5vsb+ 4 amps

combined 3.3 and 5 = 200 watts.
input frequency range 50hz - 60hz

TESTED RATINGS

*all tests were performed with the cover off. on a regulated power source. meter was Fluke 199c scope. test on 12 rail was performed over 24 hour period to determine a peak value.

op1000

12v+ 92 amps PEAK 102 amps
12v - .60 amps
5v+ 56 amps
3.3v+ 41 amps
5vsb+ 3.5 amps

combined 3.3 and 5 = 335 watts. (average)
input frequency range 42hz - 71hz

average temp was 43C. noise level at that temp. once warmed up was 44dba.

ok heres the only test im sure doesnt matter. its rated at 1100 watts peak output. i had my scope simulate load on EVERY rail. this was a really hard thing to accomplish and I rode the lightning a few times. my hairs still standing up and it was a few days ago.

the results of my encounter with a 220 line and a badly grounded stat pad?

1426 volts peak output. average output was 1113 over 6 hours loaded.

this test was done to the best of abilities and tbh i dont really think i did it correctly. i just didnt have any other good results with any other method i tried.

thats all i have. i mainly did this for fun to see how silverstones first attempt at a single rail would do. i was honestly only checking to make sure it made AT least the correct ammount of power. it overdid itself in every way i could think of.

meh take it for whats its worth.

P.s 85zf is for sale. i cant post on forums but msg me if interested.

I'm sorry. I have to ask....

How do you simulate load with an O'scope?

Don't you need a load to determine maximum load capabilities?

has anyone mentioned the 1% line regulation?
haven't seen that since the PCP&C Turbo-Cool 510W days

you do realize an increase of 6 dB is over twice as loud?

you do realize that if u start at something quieter than a 120mm fan on low and end at 10db louder it still isnt loud.

now if it was a jet engine and 10 db louder. im sure we would notice.

just wondering what that posts intention was.
