Hi all,

Who is going to buy the new Silverstone Olympia OP1000? because I am, and can someone tell me when is it going to come out? I heard 8th of December if that's right?

R - E - P....

What's up with the link??

Why wouldn't you buy from Deadeye Data? ;)

I have nothing against them, I don't even know who they are. I would just rather from purchase from a place I am already familiar with. I.E. Newegg or Performance-PCs because these companies have treated me very well.

Sorry if it sounded like I was bashing them. I have no grounds for that. To tell you the truth I am happy they have it listed at all, or I wouldn't have posted in this thread.

I'm back... this is my edit portion.

This is for jonnyGURU, I meant nothing by it. I noticed you posted in another thread about the this PSU and noticed your affiliation with dead eye. I also visited http://www.jonnyguru.com/ , nice place. So many companies out there and you don't know who you are going to get burned by. That is why I am a return customer for those who have treated me well. I have been around here at for a little while and I am just now starting to make my mark here in the [H] world. I just may have to try dead eye this time around an 8% discount is always appreciated. I'm sure I will see you around the forums and I want to reiterate that I am not trying to bash at all. :)

according to silverstone and performance-pcs .. the OP1000w psu wont be avaible until january

this looks like a great PSU at a fantastic price. no reason for $500 PSU's.

What about the bfg 1000 watt psu? I know that the bfg psu's that were 650 watts and lower were actually pretty bad, but supposdly the 800 watt and the 1k watt psu that bfg makes is decent. Can't find any reviews for them but newegg sells the 1000 watt one for 270 bucks.

I am glad they finally went single rail with this beast. The multi 12v rail crap so pervasive in marketing new PSU's was really starting to piss me off.

on a side note, is this PSU the same size as the Zeus line?

BFG 1kw = Topower = avoid. Especially since they're so fucking expensive, have design flaws (crossload, rail stability, ripple, etc), and you can have so much better at that price. Like said Silverstone 1 kw for only 10 bucks more.

Ya I was thinking the same thing, I mean the bfg previous psu's were crappy and since I couldn't find any reviews on the 800 and 1k watt psu's I was wondering if they were any better.

But I'm going to be sticking to the silverstone 1kw, just wondering if that extra 10 bucks was worth it and it is.

Yeah. Not like they did that for a reason or anything.

Silverstone 1000 watts 150 mm (W) x 86 mm (H) x 220 mm (D)

Silverstone 850 watts 150 mm (W) x 86 mm (H) x 180 mm (D)

Price has no bearing on anything..nobody is forcing people to buy expensive power supplies.
Then again.....Topower says it all!
But seriously price IMO should never be a factor especiallu when putchasing the most
important item for your computer--Power Supply!

I really want this PSU, damnit, come out already!

That december 17th date, is that for everywhere in terms of it would be like on every website that sells silverstone psu's like for example newegg would also have it that day too?

I really hope so myself.

Depends.

DeadEyeData drop hips direct from Silverstone where Newegg, Tiger, ZZF, etc. have their own warehouses. :D

i think his point is why buy an inferior product in the same price range as a quality part.

The question is who is buying them? They are priced like double a 850 W unit and why not just run 2 850W unit instead of 1 KW if you need a lot of power ;)

Just get a Stacker if you don´t want to do a ghetto mod :). Probably easier to cool two 850 W units too espeially since they dont have to work that hard as one 1 KW unit.

what are you talking about? the 1kW Silverstone is $280. the 850W Silverstone is $230 at deadeye and around $280 everywhere else.

It's december the 17th, do you know where your silverstone OP1000 is?

lol

that sucks, I was waiting for this item, I can't wait any longer I need a power supply, I am able to get an Antec TP3-650 true power, is that a good power supply for my 8800GTX?

how come dead eye has the silverstone in stock according to their website?

well i spoke to them today and the lady said they spoke to silverstone on thurs and they said they will begin shipping on monday .. she said she doesnt know how many they will get .. i placed my order .. so we shall see if i can get in on the original shipment .. which means i should know tomorrow if mine ships

So in otherwords, it's out as of now.

Well if you post back here and it's not out tomorrow... then they will lose a customer. Want to get in a 1kw for a Christmas gift, so it has to be one or the other :)

I don't see why they would wait till after the biggest selling season for their power supply, especially when the compeditors will be dropping in prices and becoming more compeditive.

But who knows, tomorrow will tell all.

yeah ill let u guys know .. they said ill receive a tracking number as soon as its shipped and if i dont get in on the initial shipment then they will email me and let me know when the next shipment is .. but who knows .. ill let u know as soon as i hear from them

Personally (sorry DeadeyeData) I seriously doubt that the product will be out before X-Mas.

The problem isn't the product. SevenTeam has the product. Hell... I have a modular and non-modular version of the same unit. All SevenTeam really does for SilverStone is spray paint them black (sorry Silverstone.) I would have to say SevenTeam has probably one of the bigger factories I've seen, so there's no issue with popping a few K off the line a week.

I think the problem is with the 8-pin PEG connector. I could be wrong, but I think SilverStone wanted this thing to be R600/G90 compatible right out of the gate and actually have the correct 8-pin PEG connector.

To date, all of these companies that are releasing PSU's with the 6+2 8-pin PCI-e connector (Enermax, Topower, etc.) have the wrong connector because PCI-SIG made a change in their specification about a month ago. Silverstone might be waiting to get the correct 8-pin working on the PSU. To my knowledge, nothings been finalized. And the "official" connector company of PCI-SIG (no, it's NOT Molex or AMP) wasn't even sure what the final 8-pin PEG was going to be as of last week!

well that will suck then .. so basically all psus avaible today are worthless for the rd600 and g81 refresh

To my knowledge, all of the power supplies that have an 8-pin PCI-e express connector have the wrong connector on them. They're based on an early draft of the latest 225W/300W PCI-SIG certification before they realized that a 6+2 connector essentially was the same as an 8-pin EPS+12V connector w/ polarity reversed.

Besides, the new connector supposedly has +12V sense wires in addition to an additional +12V and ground.

Does that make everything else obsolete? Absolutely not. I've heard an adapter will be included with the cards that will adapt two 6-pin's to one of the new 8-pin PEG connectors.
