MUCH better choice.
Loving the Seiki 39 for the monitor. How do you find it compares with the Dell 3008 you have next to it?
Also, are you driving it through the DisplayPort? Are you running at 30Hz? How do you like it?
The Dell is clearly (without a doubt or even a question) the better monitor. 30hz @ 4k is very jittery, I tried gaming on it with a few specific games and some games are better than others.
Blacklist crashes @ 4k, BF4 plays great, but screen tear is very noticeable. AC4 looks great, and plays okay when limited to 30hz. Same with Sleeping Dogs. I tried to get Dead Space 3 to work but couldn't. I really hope someone makes a 39/40 inch panel that's 4k/60hz and under 800ish, heh that would be nice.
I'm not incredibly impressed with it but at sub $500, its not a huge loss if I don't like it. I will however try and daily it and see if the hz is going to really bother me that much. So currently, my 3008 is still the primary monitor and the seiki is secondary. I work from home and could benefit from the extra space.
There is no display port, i'm driving it using the supplied blue HDMI cable via one of my 780's. My 3008 is being driven via Display port. I am also running the 50inch firmware.
Thanks for the reply. As an office/productivity monitor, Seiki should do very well. Plenty of screen real estate. Any opinions on how it handles gaming at downscaled 1080p?
1080p @ 120hz is okay, i'm used to gaming at 1600p though so I don't think i'll be doing any gaming on this monitor at that res.
I usually stick to my lightboost monitor (120/144hz) and play on my alienware if I want to game at 1080p.
30hz, is something else though if you are considering getting this. I love the res, but I hate the refresh rate.
my setup http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZXB7cokczc for movies and cable watching.
MAGI system. This is my dorm room so it is a shared setup, hence the two sides/chairs.
2x U2410 + Sony 40EX640
adding 2 UltraSharp 2209WAs on an Ergotron above the U2410 on my side in a couple weeks.
Is that a Watain poster?
+1 for Eva reference / backgrounds
wow how shit are the blacks on the monitors above.
That makes me miss my AMBX setup - I still have it, but none of the games I play support it.
Nice looking setup. I have the same three monitors in my setup. I removed the bezels though
Here's mine. 3 Samsung S27a750p
If anyone is wondering it's sitting under my loft bed, which is what that pine lumber is. NYC apartments are small!
Duuuude... I want that wallpaper.... can you tell me where I can get it... and for triple-monitor wallpapers, this site rocks... TripleMonitorBackgrounds
There's a lot of other great wallpapers on here too. Some really nice space themed ones.
@didactandnarpet: Dat bezel is so [H]ard.
Any guide to debezel this screen? I can't find anything.
Thanks for the multi monitor wallpaper sites guys...schweet... but I really need 7680x1600 or triple monitor wallpapers...resolutions on those sites aren't high enough
The blacks are shit because that color is not black.
They're U2410s. Why would you even ask such a question?
Hi, I'm a noob to the forum. I'm all agog at the setups here which look more like works of modern art than ye olde humble office!! Wonderful thread. I'm posting my present work abode in the spirit of sharing. And yes, the curtains are awful.
I feel you, I've just bit the bullet and have been using 2560x1600 wallpapers.
welcome to the [H]ardness...nice variety of LCD's...setup well and functional...and no offense but very few here will give a rat's behind about your curtains!...haha...we can't see past the digitronics!
Haha thanks. That was my main attraction to this particular monitor. It was an added bonus that the monitor itself turned out to be so great.
Yeah Vega created a very nice guide located here:
It's actually pretty easy to do and as you can see makes for a super small bezel
hahahahahaaa! Thanks for the advice, killa. Thanks also for the welcome: it's very nice being here.
Nope, that's an 'el cheapo' Miniwatt N3 SET amp: available on eBay for $189.
Well you still have tubes, which is pretty damn cool. How do you like it?
Amazing for cheap. Different tubes alter the sound. You just need speakers sensitive enough; 3 watts ain't much.
Wow, I thought my single 24 inch was sufficient. Now im looking at 2nd and third monitors.. you guys just make me spend money!
hahahahahaha...it's like crack!!
Yes it is!!
If it were only display money..
I have several monitors but I only game on one. When you get a taste for 120hz gaming at very high fps it's hard to settle for less. In multi monitor setups, gaming fps drops drastically, or gpu budget increases insanely to maintain 120fps. However you can also play less demanding games like source engine games which are still fun, or turn down settings a lot on some games to balance your gpu budget vs multi monitors. Currently testing borderlands2 with a single 780ti on a single 1080p 120hz monitor with most every maxed but AA off and fxaa on I get around 90 - 130fps typically, higher in cramped areas.
Personally I am going for the asus PG278Q 27" 120hz 2560x1440 TN in a few months. With a single 780ti I won't be hitting 120fps in all games but I can use the gsync dynamic hz on the most demanding games to hold me over until 20nm gpus come out at the end of the year, or turn down settings and use ULMB mode. On games that maintain around 120fps I'll turn dynamic hz off and use nvidia's ULMB mode, which is backlight strobing mode at high hz which results in essentially zero FoV movement blur unlike all other non-strobing lcd's which result in continual FoV blur during your continual movement keying + mouse-look path flow.
Looking (no pun intended) even further ahead, eventually the oculus rift will come out. The current prototype is 1080p with high refresh rate and some type of backlight strobing/blanking to eliminate FoV movement blur. Future revisions in following years are likely to be even higher resolution so even if they aren't multi monitor, VR setups will eventually be very demanding on gpus due to extreme resolutions in future iterations.
End of year, early next I'll probably make the leap into 20nm sli to feed my 2560x 120hz monitor better.
Even if you aren't gaming on all the monitors in your array, multi monitor is definitely awesome for desktop/app real estate. I don't think I would be gaming on a 4k monitor any time soon for various reasons (the bandwidth of the ports and cables isn't enough yet, the display hz isn't 120hz and in many cases is 30hz!!, and the gpu power demands would be extreme for 120fps at 4k), but 4k would provide some nice desktop real estate without bezels. There is also the possibility that they could implement a clean 4x scaling so that you could jump into 1080p x4 mode for gaming at high fps on some 4k 120hz/144hz monitor, and back out again to desktop. Would have to see how well that would work.
Finally added my last monitor, change out my side one.
4 dell u2412m 1 dell u2211h and 1 Acer 22 inch in portrait.
sorry for crappy cell phone picture.
Hey guys long time stalker on Hardforum, figured i would finally sign up. Here my current setup
On the right is my i7-3820 with 32gb of ram, and a HD7850 and my Samsung 700t tablet/ultrabook
In the Middle is my NAS

^ Very nice setup. I'm in the market for a new office chair. Currently tossing up between the Buro Metro and the Ikea Markus. How do you find the Markus out of interest? Specifically comfort when sitting for long periods of time and lower back support.
Those 27"rs are huge.
