You guys make me jealous I don't space for a wider desk. The 46" one I have just isn't enough, but at best I only have space for about 54". I can't find anything that fits that width and still is about 24" deep, without a bunch of fluff stuff on the desk that just gets in the way.

Get a corner desk if you can, they really offer a lot of space.

I have thought about it, but I'm worried about being overly cramped. I'd love to have one. When I get everything with the new computer I'm building set up I'll probably post it (it's horrible, I won't lie) so you guys can see what I have and offer suggestions.

@markkin ROFL! the TP is cool, never know when one might shit themselves I suppose :)

Seriously, what a great ice breaker for visitors.

Any suggestions for good corner desks? Looking in to the corner it is going to be in, I have about 6.5 feet on the right wall, and probably 10 feet on the left. Ideally I'm looking for something where you actually sit in the corner part, a decent amount of space, not a lot of stuff in the way on the bottom, and maybe even an extra shelf on the top to put the monitors on (preferably around the whole desk, but this part isn't really a deal breaker).

I've been looking for a few hours and can't seem to find anything.

That is probably the closest, but I can't tell the actual dimensions. Is the right side 63" and the left 79"?

The following one is a friends set up. I like the desk, but can't seem to find anything like it online.

Something like that would be awesome. Preferably with the monitor shelf all the way around. A friend has that but can't find it online.

The left (thinner side with the extension) is the 78 3/4" side.

IKEA was the only place that had desks that I liked as well, but if the store isn't local, shipping is a deal breaker. In the end, I simply refinished the top of my existing desk, making it a tad larger in the process.

one of the larger office depot's by me used to have some decent desks but in the last several years most stuff is online order to store if anything. Much fewer options shown on the floor. I order a lot of stuff from amazon now, or pc parts from newegg and tiger.. and for other furniture I keep an eye on craigslist etc. I have a backlog of projects to do and my current corner desk is decent so I'm sticking with it for now. Eventually I'd like to build my own though.. maybe out of pairs of 2x6's angled together for legs, plywood surfaces and monitor shelves covered with laminate or counter-top block material.
.
edit - I still see some halfway decent corner desks from officedepot listed online, though you might find them cheaper if you look around. Just so you know, you can usually skip installing the cabinetry and shelving above the desk surface level. I personally never want that stuff, especially since my desk faces out from the corner now rather than against the wall/bookshelf.

I wish I had the tools to build my own desk, it would probably be kind of fun. No better way to get exactly what you want either.

Are the Ikea desks sturdy? It seems like there isn't a lot of support, do they have a tendency to bow down in the middle?

I think people like them a lot. If you go over into the Case Mods forum there is a whole thread that's titled Ikea Gallery.

I have had a compaq p110 on my ikea fredrick for years and it has never bowed. Still straight. Too bad im gonna be getting rid of it and getting a big L shaped galant when I move in with the BF.

This guy is my best friend whom help me recreate the top picture after I upgraded. On top of this lovely 5th 30" I just bought a 2500K, 16GB RAM, a motherboard, and a 1.5TB HDD. Yay tax return.

Do a favor to yourself and get one, i never thought it will make a difference so just got one to check what the hype was about, now all i want to do it type with it.

Sup with the blender ball ChaosAD?

Nice catch man. Blender ball from a protein shaker. Never used it but i liked the shape and the feel when you press it, so i thought to make it a pc desk item.
