how do you like that corsair keyboard?

I like it a lot feels great when typing, very responsive. Had the sidewinder x4 before this and the diff is night and day.

Nothing special, just a -very- quick shot of my desktop. For the work I do (photo&video editing), this combination is wonderful. ;) EIZO CG275W + NEC SV2190. ATI FirePro V7900 as graphic accelerator on a Win7Pro system.

Ciao,

P.S. Ok, I understand the IBM keyboard could be considered *ugly* (at best) if not an ancient artifact that should go straight in a museum but i L-O-V-E it! :D

That EIZO is hugely expensive! It must have amazing picture quality?

maybe the setup is not so special, but the hardware appears quite special. Lol, google search of that monitor brings up your image on the first page of image search, and the shopping section reveals that the hood alone is more expensive than some smaller monitors.
Does it satisfy your strict color judgement?

I guess it's a matter of personal taste, Acer_Sheep. I do like the way the keys "click" under my fingertips, the precision of digitation (I'm so used to this keyb that's it's unlikely I miss a word) and, last but not the least, it's indestructible, it's REALLY built to LAST. Moreover, just remove the keys caps, clean them and the keyboard is back to its youth. :D
This keyb is my father's one (he was senior programmer and started working onto IBM mainframes back in 1967). For me it's a precious object, afterall. ;)
I've worked with low-profile, highly styled keybs (DiNovo was one of them) but I don't feel at home with them: I'm really not accustomed to those "soft touch" buttons. I prefer this "macho-keyb" by far, even if it's lines aren't so "cool". :D

PS IMO

Yes that I wanted to ask, I worked on keyboards like this before and I found it very unpleasant and annoying, what makes you to just love it? Modern keyboards are much more comfortable.

LOL, u're right! I didn't notice I'm in the 1st page when searching for the CG275W! That's crazy! :D And the price of the hood alone is crazy too: didn't imagine it would be so expensive. To be fair, also the NEC SV2190 was pricey when I bought it some years ago: its -very good- perfomances seem to be the same of the first day. Never a glitch nor a malfunction, allways perfect. This EIZO is another world in terms of available color gamut and it's 30bits are capable of rendering even the slightest tonal gradations: I find it useful when I do vector based graphics that employ gradients extensively (Photoshop CS5 shapes). As for soft-proofing, I currently print my photographs with an HP Z3200 and I find a near perfect correspondence between what I see on screen and on the paper. All in all, the CG275W simplifies some color management processes with it's integrated colorimeter: you can set-up an automatic calibration schedule for a specific profile and forget about it. It's also very quick in creating the profile, much more faster than the Spyder3 I've have.

I also have to give props for the Model M, good keyboards are actually even more underappreciated in most computer setups today than good monitors are! I am currently using a mechanical keyboard myself, but with cherry switches. The click is still as satisfying as ever though.

Finally got my Dell u3011 and loving it soo far. 2 back monitors are unplugged right now because I dont even know if Ill need them. I think ill be selling them.

Not sure if the mixed orientation quote is accurate or not, that may have been an assumption. The monitors can be different sizes but I dont' see resolutions mentioned. I'm not sure what the full capabilities will be.

"Monitors can be aligned in landscape or portrait mode, or even a mix thanks to the flexible bezel correction mentioned above. "
Another interesting feature found in Eyefinity 2.0 is flexible bezel correction. This allows monitors of different sizes to be used in an Eyefinity setup but automatically adjusting the display image to take into account where the edge of one monitor is relative to the monitor next to it.

Thanks, Bass. ;)

Eyefinity?

I did the whole eyefinity thing for a year. while I did greatly enjoy it in some games the fisheye effect kills it for me.

I mainly play RPG's and in most of them the fisheye is horrible. I have to say tho, Need for speed games were simply amazing with eyefinity but I dont play them enough.

Maybe if they fix that in the future, but I think its more of a game dev thing then AMD so that might never happen.

Nothing too impressive here. Just 3 Dell 24" UltraSharp IPS monitors

I love these monitors but OMG BEZELS!!!!!!! TT_TT

Vanquish: That's the nicest setup I've seen so far in this thread.

I use 2 x NEC 2090UXi myself.

I want to pickup the NEC 2180WG-LED, with the RGB-LED backlight and full 30 bit color support. NEC has them on closeout for $850.

Eyefinity setups are popular in this thread. Single monitor gaming in my setup, one IPS and one 120Hz.

I use a NEC LCD2490WUXI (w/polarizer) + NEC LCD2190UXP hooked up with my desktop and work laptop through a Gefen KVM. I used to have a Dell but my eyes always hurt because they crank up the brightness too much and it cannot be lowered. The NEC has seemed to do the trick however. I threw in some money shots of the office for kicks. Oh yeah, cord clutter blows but I never really see it unless I bend down and stare; not a big deal.

That was with landscape. People have to understand that a portrait setup is much different and much better imo.

Great setups in this thread, gave me a lot of ideas for the future. Here is my current setup. 27" for gaming 24" for internet use mostly.

Best headset I've owned so far. Had it over a year and no regrets.

It has gone through many 12+ hour gaming sessions on my head and I never feel any discomfort.

.......... You are entitled to your opinion, but personally I don't like portrait mode so I don't think its better at all. It makes the bars too central. The side panels in LLL eyefinity are peripheral by design - they aren't supposed to be part of the display you are focusing on like 3x1 portrait mode is, and it keeps the central monitor you focus on free of bars. The idea or ideal of eyefinity gaming as far as I'm concerned is immersion while (in games that fully support eyefinity or have robust screen element customization abilities out of the box) keeping all HUD, notifications, pointers, chat windows, and central screen characters/objects within the span of your focal view (central, incl vs height). Imo its not about piecing together monitors to make one giant display of a higher resolution, where the extents of the monitor get sent into your periphery at normal desk distances and you end up with two bars narrowly in front of your main viewpoint.
....... 3x1 PPP eyefinity basically makes one big 16:9 monitor (over-sized at normal desk distances unless using small monitors), with two bars in the central part. 5x1 portrait is pretty much the same aspect as PLP setup but with bars in the middle (and a higher rez).

eyefinity config aspects visualized to perspective

Of course PLP eyefinity is not supported (yet?), people can only get some games to run using softTH software "hack", but the comparison still stands, and LLL similarly with even a larger aspect width. Eyefinity is starting to support grid configurations with different monitor sizes btw though, so progress is being made. Eventually it could end up with some interesting results.

Thats they way I see it, at least until they start making actual computer monitors bezel-less , similar to some of the TV's they showcased at CES. Hopefully some bezel-less 120hz input lcds at some point until oled or similar comes out (and eventually hits an "affordable" enthusiast price). The tradeoff is rez for bars narrowly in your middle view as it is now. I'm not interested in an overly tall wall of monitor making me bend eyes to the periphery on my main display, nor my HUDs, notifications, pointers, chat , etc all being sent to the extreme sides in my periphery either, so anything that resulted in an overlarge monitor would have to be set back on its own pillar/stand further away. The bonus of that type of distance would be a higher perceived ppi though so it is not without benefit - especially considering all 120hz input monitors are 1080p to date.

I wouldn't recommend that arm for 30" displays though. In my experience the monitors will sag down to the desk and there isn't much you can do to tighten the springs to keep them up. Probably not as bad on a 27" due to the smaller physcal dimensions.

3x27" Planar TN's. Built the base thingy out of some left over cedar 1x4's I had laying around. Works pretty well.

Some Oblivion action :p That desk in the Skingrad house needs more monitors, and a couple more Deer :D
