Show Your LCD(s) setups!!!

I got my Ergotron LX Dual arm from csource.com for $218(reg is 380).

Thanks for the reply :) Are there any other reliable brands that are pretty reasonable? I've heard of Ergotron while lurking these boards. Always wanted to move to a stand to get more space and flexibility. Want to be as cost efficient as possible, but would be a costly mistake to go too cheap.

If you don't care about ease of adjust-ability, the monoprice stands will do you just fine.
If you want a high quality stand with all the neat little bits, you can not beat ergotron.

Hey Dave,

Which dual monitor stand is that, and how easy was it to put together? Kinda new to going beyond the basics (multidisplay, etc.). Want a good deal, but I am afraid that the good deal might end up in sadness and falling/broken montitors :)

Thanks!

Deinos,

Just to formally link it, it is this stand (product 7564). Took me maybe...10-15 minutes to get it put together. It is mostly assembled already, it just takes time to take your previous stands off and attach the VESA bracket to the back of your monitors.

It is *VERY* well made and strong. It is also super easy to adjust; each pivot point has a large "thumbscrew" on the bottom which allows you to adjust tension for repositioning. If you have any specific questions about it, or want a closeup picture of anything on the stand, let me know.

its simple and clean with plenty of storage room. One thing I am thinking about is to take that xbox and plant it below 226bw horizonatlly as stand basicly to make some more room. The 226mw stand fits perfectly between ventilation holes on top of xbox and wouldnt obscure anything

Dave,

How does the mount go into your table? I have an Ikea Galant Desk. Does the mount clip on to my table or I'll have to drill a hole into the cable to install it?

Did it cost 10k? :p

Why? No. It isnt that expensive if You do everything Yourself in your own workshop. Chipwood or plywood isnt that expensive If You have a table saw and tools.
offcourse skilled carpenter dad is also usefull :D

Your custom built desk is really nice, but I assume you should get a better chair to sit there.;)

Oh and Hi my northern neighbor :D .

This is a side view of the mount:

It requires a footprint of about 4 inches above and 3.5 inches underneath the desk to clamp securely. You can adjust the initial gap as well, I have it on (if I remember) the smallest setting above, but if you desk is a lot thicker, it wouldn't be a problem.

It did also come with a second mounting bracket if you want to permanently attach it to your desk (with screws).

So in other words, I don't need to drill a hole into my desk, but that it just clamps to the desk right?

No, that is my gaming station at home. I forgot to update my signature, this setup is 3x 120Hz Samsung S23A750D's in portrait Eyefinity.

You made FP of [H]! What is the total res of those screens? Awesomely thin bezels on those btw!

Ruger 10/22. Same as the 2nd from the left. Mueller APV scope, VQ Hammer, sear, bolt release, E.R. Shaw barrel.

My new office, got promoted from Cube Land:

Optics and stocks have been swapped around a bit, but this will give you an idea of my 10/22's

Lol, I go thru eyefinity configurations like underwear. Here is my current pair of Samsung S27A750s running BF3 in an eyefinity config with the side bezels tucked behind the center monitor.

First, on topic: getting a monitor "arm" has got to be the single greatest PC upgrade I've ever gotten. Fancy brand ones maybe nice, but I found mine for about $30 - I got one which has the two folding arms and full tilt/pan/rotate of the monitor itself.

Adding additional monitors is not so bad just by adding a new arm for each one, if you can't afford a high end "multi-monitor" (Ergotron, etc) mounting setup you can get similar results, albiet a little less neat and clean in the back, just using tape/adhesive to line up the edges precisely, if you want. A quality brand (3M?) of black electrical tape doesn't look "tacky" (ha ha) and won't leave much residue.

One decent sized monitor and one or two more smaller ones seem a lot more fun/useful to me than a single expensive larger monitor (generally).

This looks pretty slick for ~ $100:

Now, off topic: this thread has a good deal of off topic posts, this leads me to believe that something needs to be added to the forum programs out there: some sort of integrated "spin off" threadding system where the off topic post (and it's replies) used to be, instead a short post with a link to the new thread gets inserted by the mod/admin.

This should be integrated into the forum software to facilitate super ease of use by the mods such that they don't even have to get angry at the off-topic offending posters... Kind of like "multi quote" where you check boxes, except, instead of "quote" they have an additional "Move to new thead" command button. :D

You could atleast resize the picture down so the effects of noise / shitty focus becomes atleast a little less annoying?

Also, is that a HP LP2465 I spy on your desk? how's the gaming perfomance? mine has noticeable ghosting vs my LG L245WP...

Edit / Example: reduce size + slight postprocessing

I need to get a real camera and snap a few pics.

reduced size and tried to reduce the noise some, The LP2465 is alright, I don't notice any ghosting on it, but I don't play too many FPS's but I've been on BF3 for the last week and haven't noticed any. I like it overall, I got it really cheap as a refurb.

just working on the cable management a little more, had to order a few extra cables to relocate the tower to the right.

That looks amazing, is that zebra wood?

No.
It is basicly a thick chipboard veneered with 1mm thick *laminate-like/veneer* in that choosen color. It is durable, resistant to scratches (unless You really want too) and to those round scorches made by hot tea or coffe, which might be visible on some used up furniture.
+ the surface isnt completly flat. It feels textured at touch ;)

If You want to do something similiar or order it, I would suggest chipboard becouse its way cheap. And that veneer doesnt necessarily need to be made of laminate, which actually IS expensive.

Unless You are not planning to Do curved surfaces, doors, etc. this solution works perfectly.

U3011, I love the 20/30/20 setup. I actually spent a weekend building the desk, got tired of buying desks and never being happy.

Here is my desk after I got my new monitor:

This is my desk now, after a few days of Modern Warfare 3, Skyrim, and F1 2011:

Getting ready for a Veteran's Day MW3 Marathon (last night), played MP and Survival. Two player survival mode is a real turn off. It was bring your own PC, Keyboard and Mouse, so don't judge me on the cheesy white keyboard and mouse, it was only there during setup.
