I just got a new Samsung Galaxy S II and I am going to need a screen protector. In the past I would just get on Amazon and pick out one that wasn't too expensive/ didn't have bad reviews but I've been disappointed in the quality I've received. the screen either feeling too thick and plastickey, too rubbery, sides and edges of the screen protector coming off because its in my pocket, bubbles wont go away... etc.

Has anyone run across a screen protector they just have to share with the world because its so awesome?
 
steinheil. heard good things about it before i bought a set. a bit more pricey, but its worth it. had it on my dinc for almost 2 years and it still looks like new. doesnt feel cheap and plastickey. edges doesnt peel when its in my pocket, but ymmv. ordered another set for the nexus even though its not out yet..... i wont buy any other brand.
 
Honestly, I gave up screen protectors when I got my first capacitive screen. I have had HTC Hero, HTC Aria, and a Samsung Droid Charge all without screen protectors and have never gotten a scratch.

They are quite difficult to scratch.
 
Realook, it's the most underrated brand out there... SGP stuff is ok, their marketing make all their products look better than they actually are.

Realook or SGP are two of the best you can find on Amazon or eBay. Using a Realook on my Galaxy Note at the moment but I'm going to try out one of the SGP Ultra Oleophobic to compare.
 
I have a Steinheil Ultra Crystal on my Galaxy S2 (Epic 4G Touch) and recently installed one on my dad's iPad 2. They're fantastic. Also, the package for the Galaxy S2 comes with two screen protectors so you have a spare. Application is very easy as well (no liquids), and my application was nearly bubble free the first time. I recommend wearing latex gloves and/or tweezers to grip the protector and not transfer any particles/fingerprints to the screen-side of the protector when applying.

The only issue I have with them is there tends to be a bit of dust on the underside from the factory. They do provide you with dust removal stickers (scotch tape works too) to fix that.

Another trick is using little pieces of scotch tape applied to the top of it where you fold some tabs over to grab onto. Find that is an amazing way to help guide the line up process.

They are a waste. If you have a phone with gorilla glass, if you do something to scratch the glass, the screen protector isn't going to help you.
 
Just got my steinheil cover... I'm really disappointed in the coverage of my screen. The package mentions that it is "slightly" smaller than the actual screen but it is so much so it just looks sloppy and cheap.

I would also like to mention the feel of it, aside from my fingers constantly crossing over the edges of the screen protector, it feels somewhat plastic-y (plasticy?). The grip is too much for my taste, it only become smoother once it had oils on it from normal use (fingers touching it, putting it next to your face) and it was next to impossible to clean off. It could possibly be somewhat permeable and absorb the oils I suppose.

Just my two cents, I know some of you like Steinheil, but I personally would prefer something else.
 
I'm a fan of Zagg screen protectors. They work well, imho.

I'm going to venture a guess that either they sent you the wrong protector or you ordered the wrong one. The Steinheil Epic 4G Touch protector I have is nowhere near as small as yours. It looks like you have the 4.3" GS2 screen protector on your phone (you have a Epic 4G Touch right?)

Also, which protector did you order? Ultra Crystal, or the others?

Looks like they sent you the wrong one then. My Epic 4G Touch's SGP Ultra Crystal protector has less than 1mm exposure on all sides. I'd shoot them an email with your pictures. Also, did the package that your protector come in have a "Samsung Epic 4G Touch (Sprint)" sticker on it? Mine did.

I freakin' hate Zagg... they have this weird rubbery feel that is just horribly unpleasant and to be honest I'd much rather risk scratching my phone. Horribly overpriced, they're the Monster Cable of screen protectors...

But seriously, I sent them back and they are refunding my money. I found a friend that is using a zag cover on his iphone and I agree with Blue Falcon... although, I would rather have a rubbery feeling screen cover on my phone than scratch it... But I ordered some realooks in the meantime. I should be getting them either monday or tuesday, we will see how those work out :D

Actually, they get better the more you use them. Your finger grease gets impregnated into the plastic, and it smooths out over time.
 
screen protectors...pfft have a 2 year old HD2 with gorrilla glass that looks like the day it was bought. I guess taking care of my stuff really does pay off.....not to metion leaving it in the phone condom provided by HTC......
 
Agree with the sentiment of the lack of need for a screen protector if you have something like gorilla glass or similar. The only reason I would consider a screen protector thereafter is if it was really special at repelling oil and finger prints, if a screen was more prone to that.
 
I just prefer to spend the extra $5-$15 and not have to worry about babying my phone. Sand will still scratch gorilla glass.
 
My phone has gorilla glass, but I just kept the protector film the phone came with and rubbed off the writing on it.

Looks perfect, and cheap! :D
 
it is no denying that there are a minor screen protectors by Amazon not enjoy the good quality .But the price can be accepted .
 
I've only used Powersupport, but I checked it out and I don't see anything besides iPhone screen protectors.
 
RealLook is one of the best screen protectors out there that has wide availability for different models. Some contend that Zagg is on par, but personally I've used both, and the feel of the Zagg is stickier, even after a few weeks of use, plus there's still an impression that there is something between you and the screen. With the RealLook, once I had it applied and put a case on my phone, which covers up the tiny gaps between the screen protector and the sides of my phone, no one can even tell I have a screen protector on unless you put it next to another phone without a protector.

The package comes with 2 protectors, which have a plastic backing on BOTH sides. This GUARANTEES there's no dust on the protector at all when you go to apply it. It also comes with a microfiber cloth, instructions, and a small stiff tape tab for cleaning off bits of dust from your screen/lifting the protector to adjust it.

As for whether or not you need it, yes I know that Gorilla Glass is pretty much impervious, but I like to play it safe. My fiance has one on her Atrix, and one day it was in her bag along with a bunch of staples that had spilled, under several pounds of various other crap she had in there. The screen protector got horribly scratched up with deep gouges, but none penetrated, and it was a simple matter to replace it with the spare, and the screen itself was perfectly fine. Despite all their claims, I'm not sure gorilla glass would have escaped unscathed without that protector.
 
I bought some random screen protector from ebay and it fit perfectly. It feels good too.

The only downside is due to my own stupidity...I've got a very small air bubble. Should have used a credit card.
 
I didnt have any screen protection for my original droid, but then i bought a droid x from the forum that had an anti glare screen protector on. I liked the way that felt and so i put one on my galaxy nexus. I'm sure i dont need one. But its just nice to have.
 
Cannot recommend bestskinsever.com enough. Had one on my Aria, now on my SGSII. They're the same thing as the Invisible Shield/Zagg protectors, except they're cheap!

$6.99 for the front screen, $8.99 for a full body cover. It's a wet application, but I've put them on my SGS II, Aria, Creative Zen. Never had a problem and they're super clear and don't get scratched up like the hard plastic screen protectors. I still have the one on my Aria that's been there for 18 months and it looks like new.
 
Xtreme Guard is comparable to zagg and they are $1.99 on ebay. Ive used them for a while with no issues.
 
I recommend a protector for the sole reason it saved my iPhone's screen on a face-first fall from 5ft onto pavement.

No it won't, but putting a screen protector on a scratched screen, will make the scratches invisible, I have one scratch on my screen, and the Zagg screen protector removed it from being visible (putting that thing on was a complete PITA).
 
Steinheills without a doubt are the best imo. I had the crystal clear on my old thunderbolt, no rubbery feel or anything. I just installed my XO screen protector on my GNEX, the only thing I dislike is the rubbery feel.

My scratch didn't suddenly disappear when I put my screen protector over the gorilla glass.

It did become a bit less intrusive though since you can't feel it.
 
I have a 3 pocket system, I have no need to screen protectors. My phone has and will always have a dedicated pocket. Never used screen protectors and haven't scratched a phone in my 7-8 years of smartphone ownership...all the way back to the Palm 550. :)
