Scalpers get POSCAP screwed

They didn't get screwed... they will still sell them to dumb people, and those people will get screwed because most warranties won't transfer. The scalper doesn't care after the sale.
LOL. Yup even now instead of waiting until Rev 2, these people would rather roll the dice. I've never gambled at $800 per play but I guess to each their own.

If a brand new card is artifacting and crashing right out of the box because of the manufacturer’s chosen configuration, then that’s grounds for a warranty replacement.

No, the cards are crashing because the reference nvidia bios tries to initially boost over 1710 Mhz. They need a bios flash to not do that and they are fine.

That last sentence is a warranty issue. Not the responsibility of the end user.

Is that not the manufacturer’s chosen configuration?

The AIB partners cheaped out and didn't build the boards to reference specs. That causes to much electronic interference when the cards try to ramp up with overclocks. Which in turn causes crashes.

It may be fixed with driver changes as well.

Even if the manufacturers do an RMA, they are just going to do a bios flash and send the cards back if a driver can't resolve the issue.

I don't think they're all broken. Just the cheaper ones that skimped on that went with all cheap caps instead of the more expensive, more durable ones. Still, a little karma and poetic justice is nice and I will sleep a little better tonight knowing that :D

You have to ask the question, WHY are they cheaper?

What's cheap got to do with it? You buy something, you expect it to be flawed and broken because it costs less? The AIBs cheaped out to make more profit, screwing the consumer. Duh!

The WHY they are cheaper is because Nvidia is essentially forcing them into less margins to keep the price lower. They are trying to improvise and bring back some of the margin.

The fix is almost certainly going to be limiting the boost which will result in lower performance.

Perhaps, but a driver change will just cause more bad press. Imagine all the reviewers doing a "hot fix" follow up and comparing the before/after performance? The cards already performed well short of the claimed 2x 2080 performance on most games.

No, from what I've read it's when the cards are overboosting (>2ghz). If they cap the boost the cheaper cards will be fine most likely. Let's wait and see what happens.

Let's see if they get re-reviewed to show the performance differences.

Guess it depends on how much they cap. If it's just to stay below 2ghz then I don't expect to see too much difference. After all the cards aren't really showing a large increase in performance when OC'd versus stock anyway.

If Nvidia releases a driver update that fixes the problems for ALL cards then that just proves the point. People keep forgetting that AIB's can't go below reference. And if it's just a small adjustment then that means more testing was needed. Again, the only person controlling that is Nvidia and no one else. It looks like the baseline spec was BELOW what was needed.

Anyone thinking these cards are going to be changed by warranty is wrong. These cards perform to normal specs. Every card, even the ones with the messed up cheaper configs can still do the bare minimum requirements of 1710 Mhz as advertised. Just any boost or overclock is basically non existent on those cards. No warranty guarantees an overclock.
It is grounds for warranty of they doing it out the box at stock settings. I believe they will just release a FW update to lower the boost table to what this cards are actually capable of. As long as they still reached the advertised speeds then you have no leg to stand on.

None of the "stock" settings for these cards are anywhere near 2 GHz. I am unsure as to why the cards are boosting way above their advertised "boost" clocks in the first place. Seems to me that is the root of the issue here.

Someone talked about this before but the 2000 mhz boost is the "up to" boost. It's not guaranteed. The problem is that if there's enough power the chip will get there, but the voltage boost, coupled with the chip and capacitors leave no headroom in the boost tables so it looks like that's why they are crashing. All of that has to be right.

Sure warranty it of you not comfortable flashing it yourself. It is not a issue to more knowledgable people like on this site. So yea you can either take 5 mins and do it yourself or send your gpu out for maybe over a month for them to do it.

That is a feature for Nvidia's boost table. It will boost as far as it meets Nvidia's specs. AiB might be a little more conservative with the number based off the cooler design and some leeway cause they don't know what environment the card will be stuffed into.

Can we ban known 'scalpers' like above from H permanently? They are violating a very basic unwritten rule of this forum and we should not allow it here.

Just ignore him if you are bothered by him. I don't like telling people what they should do because I wouldn't 1 care what other said 2 am not a child that worries about other's stuff. I know the hypocrisy is thick here in this sentence alone. It really gets better when you just ignore people that annoy you and focus on what you can do to make yourself happy.

Kyle already banned one for being a complete douche so he could easily do it again if he wants.

I'm ha haw-ing that the scalpers bought all the first cards and they are broken.
fuck them anyway.

The truth is, I bet very few of these cars actually have problems. For the most part, it seems to only be an issue when overclocked. Again, I think this is a case of the vocal minority making a ton of noise about this issue. I would wager that most people are just gaming and having a good time.

So all you need is the original receipt and you're good right ? Cause let's be serious, cards that are resold aren't "used" (usually BNIB) and pretty sure these scum of the earth, bottom feeding scalper bastards would at least give you the original proof of sale

I would demand it for warranty purposes.
