It has no buttons at all. The controller and gamer both interact with each other through movement; not only is the game controlled by the movement of the player but the whole controller gives some sort of feedback. Built-in sensors can tell the difference between the controller and the console, as well as determining the controller’s position. An example of the control would be that turning the controller around and moving it in a direction would be one form of controlling.

This means that the controller would react to all forms of input such as movement, pressure, possibly even heat. Some people have commented that the controller fits in with what blog-poster Aries said prior to this year’s E3.

hmm... if that's acutally it, I'll have to wait and see for myself. it's totally going to make or break the system. seems to have potential.

Does anyone remember at first when you got really excited playing mario and when you had to jump or you´ll fall and die, you actually made an upwards movement with the controller, as if helping mario jump harder or something...its really funny now to see other people do that same thing....

I wonder how that would work with this controllers... :D

that looks cool, at least everything is sleek :) If you need buttons you can use a GC controller... We'll see how this turns out...

I can't help but think of the Virtual Boy and its disaster when I think of a new controller that could do all that.

I just wanna see someone getting pi$$ed while playing and slamming the control in the ground.... :D

One thing that comes to mind is my Ipod. 4th generation so it uses the slide that doesnt move. I know that depending on what condition your thumb/finger is in...it will work really smoothly or it will be very....well....un-smooth. Heh. If anyone has a 4th generation Ipod, you know what im talking about. Hopefully that wouldnt be a problem with this controller.

I want to then see their character do a sudden "HIT THE DECK!" type dive to the floor following that then :p

Well it could be the rev controller, could not be, also could be fake, who know, whatever it is though I'm eager to try it out when it comes out later.

They ripped off Sega! Look at that thing! It's has Genesis written all over it!! Except... without Sega, Genesis, or even ABC written anywhere...

Interesting, but I do remember comments from somewhere that the controller's feature wasn't a touch screen. Though that doesn't eliminate this, since we can assume there were all sorts of other features, and just one can't be the "revolution", but rather all of them combined.

Exactly how is a controller going to detect heat? WIll I have to rub icecubes on it or something?

Look at the little blue circles, it will probably detect thumb heat

i did read it but i probably should have said that i was being sarcastic. i was saying it because i am skeptical about how well it will work and how long it will keep working. but WOW people sure jumped on that one quick.

For future reference sarcasm and text hate each other ;)

Sorry, this isn't it. There's no way Nintendo would create a controller without buttons, then go off and tout the ability to download games from their older consoles.

Nintendo is run by idiots, but they aren't THAT stupid.

This is a few weeks old, and fake I'm sure. All we seem to know about the controller is that devs have their hands on them, and Nintendo mentioned that the config they've come up with to control all games back to the NES has them excited. The amount of rumors and mock ups for the rev controller is pretty insane, one that keeps turning up is that it will use some holographic interactive display. Nintendo we're reported to be researching it 2 or 3 years ago, and recently NASA mentioned that a Japanese game company would be using the technology.

If Nintendo is run by idiots then explain to me how they have been the only constantly profitable game company for 15+ years?

First, you've got a fallacy in that statement by assuming that profitability is all that matters in an industry. If Microsoft was losing money overall, yet still retained their share of the OS market, would you call them a failure? Of course not. Oh, and Sony Computer Entertainment is the most consistently profitable division of Sony Corporation. Nintendo ain't the only company posting a profit on video games.

Anyway, Nintendo makes money thanks to their 16 year control of the portable market, which is more due to inept initial competition and lack of interest from primary competitors than it is to their brilliant business decisions. People joke about the PSP not having any decent battery life: they're about 14 years after their time. Sega's portables were horrendous, getting maybe 2 hours before you had to replace your non-recharging AA batteries. After Sega, what has Nintendo competed with in the portable arena? Bandai? SNK? They were about as fearsome as the Republican Guard, without the reputation.

A basic business maxim is to avoid putting all your eggs in one basket. Unfortunately, Nintendo is doing just that. Beyond the Game Boy, what does Nintendo have? They don't have the console market: Sony has a worldwide base of nearly 90 million PS2s, while Nintendo has 18 million, lagging behind the ever-unprofitable Microsoft's 19.5 million. What business is Nintendo involved in besides video games? Sure, they're starting an animation studio, but they're tying that into their games: meaning, more animated Pokemon. Hurrah. Doesn't mean they've got any sort of market control.

Reggie Fils-Aime at E3 said that Nintendo has a 90% share of the portable market. Obviously, he was combining the market share of the GBA and the DS: had he only mentioned the DS, it would be about 50-60%. What he didn't mention is that, six months ago, Nintendo had a 100% share.

Once Nintendo's grip on the portable market erodes, it's over. No more Nintendo hardware. Personally, I think they'll become a Microsoft-exclusive third party, just to spite Sony and the child of their brief relationship, the PlayStation.

I give you the fact that nintendois falling back in the technology side of things with Sony and Microsoft pushing the standards, BUT, If you say nintendo is run by idiots, then my friend, you are 12 years old, and never even played anything pre-gamecube ...

Sometime, in the old ages... there was one console system the kicked the crap out of every competition, NES, followed be SNES, followed by Nintendo 64... not to mention hosting some of the best games the industry has ever seen...ever played Contra on NES ??? Way before LanParties even existed, there was nothing more fun than playing a co-op game in contra...multi-player at its best....over 15 years ago...

Not to mention the fact that kids, nintendo´s main audience, dont care about graphics...

Bottom line Nintendo is runned by geniuses of the business and have been for the last 25 or so years... I just happen to like the XBOX more now...but i´ve never had as much fun playing xbox as i had playing any of my previous nintendo consoles..

I think the problem with Nintendo is that they are stuck in their ways. All they want is a console that just plays games. But how many people have smashed them down for that? No DVD, or CD capabilities, no hard drive (even in the Revolution). They might have the least powerfull console this generation. They claim you wont need all the power but in actuall fact developers are going to want it and need it. Look how many exclusives xbox got because it was a more powerfull system. Any one played splinter cell on xbox then went to play it on PS2 and Gamecube?

I can gaurantee you as a consumer a lot of people looks at the other capabilities of the machine. They just dont want something to play games. They need more. A lot of gamers are atleast 20 years of age and if Nintendo is going to want to break into that market they are going to have to add other features to their console. My sister who is 25 rents a condo and lives with her boyfriend wouldn never even think about buying a gamecube because it isnt an all around entertainment center. When you are 25 living with someone else and have only been out of university for a while then money is tight and the most bang for your buck is important. Nintendo is going to have to break out of the traditional kiddy marke and their model of a gaming only system to be a winner. (No just because pikmen is full of colours doesnt mean its only for 8 year olds).

Sony is going to have a huge advantage again when blu ray comes out because DVD players could be $300. Well a lot of consumers are going to look at the PS3 that can play games and blu ray and buy that instead of spending $300 on the blu ray player and another couple hundred on a console. These forums are a minority in a lot of people dont really care about that but most of the consumers out their do.

Anyways thats the way I see it.

Just another thing I would like the point out that I think nintendo would make a mistake not to support HD-DVD or Blu Ray as the Creator of Dead or Alive has said 9GB's isnt enough to fit HD-Pre Rendered scenes on the disk. Were story is increasingly important in games pre rendered scenes are going to eat up major diskspace. And we all know that High Definition video is a disk space whore. I dont know if metal gear solid was pre rendered or if it was ingame, realtime, cutscenes but could you imagine if metal gear solid had all prerendered cutscenes, and how much diskpace it would take up if their were in HD.

Notice all the nintendo greatness you are talking about is in the past..why? because nintendo hasn't been the same since the snes, kids don't care about graphics? yea right it's the older gamers that usaully like retro games and care more about gameplay over graphics. I also don't have as much fun playing my new systems as my old ones thats for many reasons. First it is because i'm older and things change when you mature. Adults also have less time to truly get into games and play them hours on end. Piracy also ruins gaming also for me. In the past I used to anticipate buying games and was excited. Now I just download them all, it isn't the same.

Hey, hey buddy slow down. I loved my neo geo pocket color. That thing was way better than the gameboy advance, and if it wasn't for Pokemon, it might have done better.

Actually, I'm 21, and got my start in gaming at age 3 or 4 by playing Super Mario Bros on my friend's NES, but thank you for playing.

Sometime, in the old ages... there was one console system the kicked the crap out of every competition, NES, followed be SNES, followed by Nintendo 64...

And Nintendo used their market dominance during the NES days to screw with third parties by purposefully holding up their games in the approval process in order to rip off their ideas in a timely fashion. The SNES spent most of its life getting its ass kicked by the Genesis, resulting in Nintendo getting Joe Lieberman on Sega's case under the guise of getting rid of violence in video games (yes, you can thank Nintendo for the "Doom caused Columbine" BS.) The N64 never took off, even though I thought it had some pretty good games.

Bottom line Nintendo is runned by geniuses of the business and have been for the last 25 or so years... I just happen to like the XBOX more now...but i´ve never had as much fun playing xbox as i had playing any of my previous nintendo consoles..

Nintendo's "geniuses" have been unable to repair their relationships with third parties after their treatment in the NES days. Many developers jumped ship to Sega when the Genesis rolled around, and the rest headed to Sony when the PSX came out. Nintendo's usual reaction when Developer X or Developer Y headed to another console was, "No one plays Genre Z anyway!" This has come back to haunt Nintendo.

Another of Nintendo's brilliant business maneuvers: not telling Sony that they didn't want to develop the PlayStation, codenamed SNES CD, any further. How did Sony find this out? By heading to an E3 and seeing Nintendo partnering with Philips. That partnership created the CD-i. Sony refined the PlayStation concept and is still kicking Nintendo's ass.

Nintendo is headed by idiots.

Ya, Nintendo should have made the Playstation instead of pissing off Sony. Although Nintendo did make a Zelda game that sucked ass for the CD-i. Even if Nintendo went bankrupt tomorrow we would still be left with ALOT of great memories and games that will never go away.

Nintendo always innovates, another thing to take into account is that a Nintendo rep mentioned "touch is good" when referring to the Revolution's controller.

Actually no Nintendo didn't make that game, I believe the company owned the rights to Zelda at that time so they tried to produce their own game which turned out horribly.

Edit: Philips was the company who made the game (and the CD-i system), and the game was called "Link: The Faces of Evil"

Nintendo rarely innovates. A stylus and a touch screen is not innovation. Innovation occurs in games, not in hardware. Hardware can certainly aid innovation, but hardware on its own is not innovative.

I am not buying a DS because it has a touch screen, a stylus, and a second screen. I will buy a DS when it gets good, solid games. Yoshi's Touch And Go is literally a warmed-over tech demo, and I'm not quite enthusiastic about playing Mario 64 all over again, added characters or not.

The one game that could get me to buy a DS right now, the Final Fantasy III remake, is nowhere to be seen. Squenix didn't show it at E3, and they aren't showing it at their presentation in a couple of weeks. It's Wonderswan Color syndrome all over again.

Hehe, it may have not had a long life but the Virtual Boy was a great console.. even though it would strain your eyes where else would you get an experience similar to Teleroboxer? What about the N64 controller? I have yet to use a controller that I found to be as comfortable as that thing.

I dont care what you say...its very simple, if, for example, HL2 sucked, that still wouldn´t take away from the fact that HL is still one if not the best computer game ive ever played... I think of all of what nintendo has done in the past years (yeah i dont care if its past glory) and i cant bring myself to think badly of them...

No way sega beat SNES...I remember I got snes, and a friend got the sega and somehow we always ended up in my house playing Mario Kart...

And Kids (10 year olds..) DONT care about graphics...my little brother still loves his old PS Harry Potter game over most of his new XBOX games...He couldnt´care less about Halo 2 ...

Sales figures said otherwise. Nintendo was losing badly until 1994, when Donkey Kong Country and Super Metroid came out.

Notice that Nintendo isn't emphasizing graphical power with the Revolution.
