I'm looking to do this water cooling thing for the first time. I bought the Thermaltake Bigwater 735 kit (when it was on clearance for cheap last week) but I haven't installed it just yet. I am thinking when I move to i7 in a few weeks it may not be sufficient.

Since WC really is simple in concept I was thinking why not go [H] on this thing. Here is a radiator I was thinking of getting. COPPER-RADIATOR

It is all Copper obviously and 16-1/2" X 10" X 3/4". I have a Antec P-180 case and I think this would mount just fine on the side of the case. My question really boils down (no pun intended) how big a pump I would need to push water through this thing and the cooling circuit.

Next question may be a bit silly - I was thinking I could use the 735 kits water block but will a 775 block physically fit an i7 mobo or should I just get another one and if so are there some suggestions?

Return the TT stuff. Even if you lose a little money on it, return it...you don't want it in your setup.

I've been doing research and trying to figure out what to get myself. So far all I've learned is no Thermaltake, no Koolance, and I need 2 radiators. I think you'll be fine with 2 radiators as well(by 2 I mean 2 120mm fans...).

I have no idea what pump and blocks to get...

As for the radiator you linked...who makes it? It's not exactly cheap, I wouldn't bother with it. I'm hoping something like this Swiftech will do the job.
 
Actually price wise your getting a lot more surface area with the one I mentioned, nearly double in fact. That swifttech one is 11.2" x 5" x 1.3" (72.8"^3) vs the 16-1/2" X 10" X 3/4" (123.75"^3) I listed. It probably would work great but I bet you could get 6 fans on that one I listed with a custom made mounting plate and have them run really slowly i.e. quietly.
 
Doesn't really matter if the Swiftech will do the job just fine. What size barbs are on that thing?

Also, the Swiftech has a built in reservoir.
 
The built in reservoir is nice true. The barbs on that ebay one I'm guessing are 1/2" tubing from what I can tell in the photos.
 
The rad you are looking at is perfect for the low pressure high volume/flow pump with the Tt kit. It will work great, much better than a flat tube conventional rad with the Tt pump. You will likely need 3/8 to 1/2 id barbed tubing adapters as the rad is likely to have inlet and outlet for 1/2 id tubing. Easy to find, Lowe's and Home depot should have and available online. Simple plastic ones couple of bucks.

The i7 mounting is different sized but it is dead simple to take a piece of 3/8 acrylic or polycarbonate and make a hold down for the decent Tt block. All you need is a hacksaw and drill and a danger den maze 4 hold down kit for about $8 or a visit to the local hardware store. The plastic can be ordered from mcmaster.com (they have the hose adapters too) for a 12x12 piece for $10 ish that will be enough for you to screw up 3 times before getting the 4th one perfect.

Given the proper rad and a good spring loaded block hold down you can make that Kit perform decently at a total cost 1/3 or less what you would spend on stuff recommended by the "OMG its Tt throw it away" pundits.

I will edit in a minute with a pic of my homemade hold down so you can see what I am talking about, gotta load it up to my website first.

WoW clear acrylic 12x12 is $50 bucks !!!!! they must have stopped carrying the lesser grade, I got a piece for $10-12 at most a year ago. Look in yellow pages under plastics there might be someone local you can get some from, maybe even a scrap piece real cheap. Acrylic is plenty strong enough and typically cheaper than the polycarbonate and its easier to work/file/drill/sand. 800grit sandpaper takes just a min to make even rough edges smooth and clear. The hold down in my pic I made with a fine tooth metal cutting blade in a jigsaw and hand drill in about 20 minutes but I could use the Tt hold down plate as a guide. You will need to transfer the hole spacing from the board onto the plastic. No biggie and with washers you can make the holes in the plastic a little larger than really needed to help account for any misalignment.
 
LOL Its hard to tell from the pictures, no scale, but its actually only about 30 inches high for shelf or wall mounting. The calendar mechanism automatically accounts for numer of days per month even in leap years ! is a very early form of a "mechanical computer" one of the reasons I like it so much.

oh oh gotta say something about the OP's topic or I will be breaking rules (oh no - would have to report myself ! )

That swifttech rad is a nice rad but little restrictive for the Tt pump. Likely would work fine however. The build in res thing may or may not be usefull as unless the unit was mounted vertical (and I guess a lot of times it is so /shrug) with the outlets at the bottom as pictured in the link, the "res" part is nothing but the normal "tanks" built on the end of almost all rads with a port added. It would actually be kinda nice if one was going to mount the rad in that orientation and convientient as getting the air out of the rad is sometimes annoying. But if you mounted that rad horizontal or with the ports up, the res just stopped being a res (no help with removing air or filling ) and became a drain.

I have macguyvered a replacement mounting unit for the Tt waterblock. 1/4" thick fiberglass sheet cut into in an H pattern. I had to go to Intel's website and lookup the technical PDF for the 1366 socket and then blow it up on a copier to correct proporion to make a stencil. I've passed on the radiator for the moment. After I get into this and I more comfortable I'll go farther. I'm mounting the radiator that came with the unit on the outside of my Antec P182 case. Once it is done I will post pics.
