R580 new pics/specs

This one's eternal. Why drive a Porsche when I can run a Mini? As Trimlock said there is no need about it. Sure is nice though :D :D :D

i just payed 200 bucks for an X800 that runs fear good. why do i need FOURTY-FUCKING-EIGHT pipelines.
Hahah, that's great - siggable, if I did that sort of thing...

Seriously, I just love an orgy of new hardware. Bring it on. Bring it all on. More pipes, more power, I just like seeing higher resolutions, higher framerates, and more pretty effects. I don't care who makes it, just do it. I may not buy it, but it's fun none-the-less.

Very nice work. :)

I never said it did, I was reading the box  If you read my other posts you'll see that I have always said its 16x3.

well if dis thing stomps the 7900GTX and ATI doesnt shoot themselves in the foot again by paper launching it we just might have FOURTY-FUCKING-EIGHT PIPES under da hood er case

Results with FX-60 at 2.85 and air oc'd X1900. Next up FEAR!!!

Whoa only 11k? 7900 looks to be getting 13k bro ouch :(.

Ahh that's an OC'ed 1900 card too that gets 11k hehe. I hope ATI can get their clocks higher they are used to having almost double the speed over Nvidia but it doesn't seem to be the case later this year which might hurt them since Nvidia seems to scale better clock/mem wise :/.

Fancy that, I read 12615 points overclocked

I was looking at the first post but if it hit 12.5k oc'ed which is better looks good but the 7900 floating around at 13k makes me leery.

Waiting till March is gonna be hard for me especially if ATI releases xfire in a better solution no dongle and no master card way :).

Let's see if ATI can nip it in the butt without overclocks and all.

I agree, I really want ATI to ditch the dongle.

Worst case I can live with the dongle but the mastercard setup really doesn't help and is my biggest thing. Dongle sucks yes but if they were way better than NV without a mastercard I would switch. I like how SLi works and I am sure performance wise it takes a hit due to this unlike ATI's way probably but it's easier and less a hassle.

dongle i could care less about, what they need to do is get rid of the master card, just making ease of purchase and cost of production down, this way we don't have to rely on them making two seperate styles of the same product, and have venders ass rape us on the price just because it allows then to be put in pairs

and honestly who cares about the numbers it gets in that wanna be game 3dmark05, if the 7800 got 25000 in 3dmark05 while the X1800 got only a whopping 8, i still wouldn't care, give me games, and thats it, will be waiting for that fear result

Yea I agree with you on the mastercard it's the one thing that would have me hold back from two of their cards.

Yep I don't care about 3dmark as much as I do about games and what does fraps say while I am playing?

Too bad 3d05 is pretty indicative of performance. However close numbers like 11k and 13k mean that the x1800xt can indeed win in games. Fear is where it's gonna shine ;) :D

how so? It is a direct x program, thus it is real FPS.

So? The engine used in those 'Game' Tests is not used by ANY game. I think I read an article on Xbit where they tested an S3 card that scored 2-3K 3Dmark 05. Now.. this thing was slower then a GeForce 6600 in actual games with eye candy, but scored much higher than one on 05. You get where we're going? It's not indicative of true real world performance, but it might give you a rough guide to performance.

EDIT: Here's the link.

hell i dont even see the fear bench as real world performance, let alone 3dmark. when i run the fear bench i get better fps then i do when i play the real game. its great for compairing card to card on how well they run fear but i wouldnt trust it to give me a real world performance frame for frame.
(i think this is because there isnt any open spaces like in the real game and theres never more then 4 guys on the screen at one time)

I never said it was the end all, I said it can be used as a rough guide. For you people saying it isn't show me a card that gets 8k in 05 but can outbench a 7800gtx or x1800xt. Good luck. 3dmark depends on theroretical performance, to get that performance in real games requires good drivers. S3's drivers are horrible, so the card doesn't do anywhere near as good compared to what it COULD do.

lol nV is makin airsoft guns now? Watch out Tokyo Marui!!!

they'd probably name their G36 "nVidia G3660GTX airosft automatic electric gun! shoots 400fps stock and gets 20k 3dmarks at the same time!" =P

AEG = Nvidia's shady marketing

worthless, 1024/768, no aa/af, whos going to purchase a 1900 to play fear on very low settings

would have liked to of seen 1280x1024 AAA/HQ AF, see if it can play with any enabled or not, would be sweet

Worthless I think not, this is the first directly game-comparable data to be released. For shader intensive games like FEAR this will allow comparison between X1800/X1900/7800GTX.

If someone wants to run the same test on these hardwares and report back, that would be more interesting.....

I looked at Anand and a 256 7800GTX was scoring 102 FPS on fear at 1024.

It appears to be heavily CPU limited..due to the speedup going from Fx-55 to FX-60..no telling how fast it could go.

ATI already leads in FEAR, though, even with the X1800XT>512 GTX at high res and AA. So I guess it would just be increasing the lead.

wow, even playable at ultra resolutions

even if the game is the first review we have for the card its still worthless, i'm sure a ton of people care about how fast it is in fear at 1024/768 and are willing to purchase it based off of that fact alone

Aaargh!!! You are right these benchmarks are useless and not even appropriate in a thread entitled "R580 new pics/specs"........

First of all we have in-game difference between single and dualie FXs using ATI drivers with early dual-core optimisations.

We also now have preliminaries for 3D03, 3D05 and FEAR. So I guess you are right all this info is useless. Come on.

Yes, I expect there to not be much differance at all at 1024x768, he needs to do at least 1600x1200 and add some aa and af to the mix :D

I think what we have here is an "official unofficial leak" if you know what I mean, so expect the info to drop slowly. Of interest is that X1900s are price listing all over the place right now, so a good hard-launch looks likely.

i hope that ATI does the same thing w/ the x1900xtx as they did w/ the x1800xt :D (release a PE card w/ the exact same architecture stuff so we can just bios flash the xtx to a [xtx pe?] for a free upgrade!)

That appears to be what is happening.
