Project: Vash (Trigun)

You might just as well have built the PSU from scratch with so much modding ;)

workin late on a monday nite eh?

sounding like a real X5... no sleep required :D

lookin good, I like how the case is now just simply called "Vash"
no more Project Vash, no more case, just "Vash"
"Vash" is getting a new PSU, Vash's PSU is getting sleeved and neutered
I can imagine your parents complaining about you staying up late hours with this "Vash" guy...

well keep it going, "Vash" is lookin nice with the modders mesh and all...

LoL you guys are just funny! Thanks for the PSU compliments :D Did a little more modding today...which you won't be able to see until I am 100% finished.

I have a Dec 10th deadline to meet. So less updates more work and 1 big finale! :D

Ok guys, this is a WORKLOG not a DATING SERVICE.

Well it allows for 70% airflow. So doesn't reduce much :) the hexagon has the best airflow.
70% isn't that bad considering that the standard stamped-out 'grilles' of most cases seldom allow for more than 50%. Of course, the best are still the classic round (wire) grilles, especially because these don't affect the airflow that much. Turbulent airflow caused by fan grilles is an important factor in reducing fan noise.

You don't want a noisy system, now do you? :)

Whoa mashie went on a post editing spree!

Anyways I do agree that 70% air flow is better than 50% or less. :) I mean sure you can leave the fan open to recieve nearly 100% of the air, but I think I'd like to keep my fingers free from cuts.

One way to reduce noise is to add a spacer between the grill and the fan. Just don't make the gap too big or your fingers might still be in danger...
I like to use:
foam sheet (cut in stripes to dampen vibration)
dryer sheet (fan filter and lemony fresh :D)
mesh for grils

It all seems to work rather well for me. :)

One thing I don't get, though, is putting a fan grille on a HSF. If I carelessly put my hand inside the case of a system that is on, I expect to get hurt, darnit :(

Anyway, a problem with using a spacer between the fan and grille is of course the resulting gap, and the fact that the grille is protruding. Naturally, this is only a problem if you care about looks :)

youd don't necessarily have to make the gap protrude outward, you could put it inward but you may reciculate some air.

a better way may be to put some plastic window liner so you seal the fan --> hole gap while increasing the distance between the fan and the grill and you decouple the fan in the process, reducing vibration.

Update! December 8th 2004!!

Today I had a knock at the door, walked over and answered it not expecting any packages. It was a UPS guy holding a rectangular package, of what? I had no clue.

Hmm...I close the door and look at the sticker saying who it was sent from. Corsair?! What? Oooh now I remember!! :)

A big THANKS goes out to Corsair and Gruntville! :D

I'll be using the Corsair for benchmarking and the G-Skill for OC'ing. This way I can see how each one performs.

Oh and I made a wallpaper to go with my Vash case a while ago. Found it while I was looking through my files

grr, I could use some better ram...

but looks good(btw, what happened to not posting updates until the final product :D )

LoL well...I've canceled my Dec.10th thing. Mainly because stupid CompUSA doesn't carry AS5 and today was the day that I HAD to run out of it. Also my female molex pins are going to be shipped to me ON the 10th. So I'm not able to meet the deadline with all the requirements. There was supposed to be a photoshoot for the case lol.

That's what you get for not properly planning in advance :D

 I hate you, really I do. :) (j/king)

LOL I need to really get some good ram. Nice wallpaper too.

LoL I got some AS5 from Fry's and my pins from FrozenCPU. Turns out that I get a few days to complete my work! Yayyy! :)

ok but heres a list.
1: lan party
2: its a project for some one else.
3: going on TSS lol.
4: just coz its a goal that you made.
5: for a comp.

any close to it.

A photoshoot was mentioned - so

6: for the january issue of some comp mag?

Hmm...perhaps. Even I'm not 100% sure that this will happen. So...if it does then it'll be a suprise for me too :)

December 13th. Before the very last update!

After busting my fingers knucles and whatever else is part of my hands. The case is basically finished!

I'm so excited that Vash is actually up and running. Also that I'm near done. But sad to see that this is coming to an end. So much time, effort, blood, and sweat was put into this case. It shows.

1 modular line from the PSU to CD-Drive to HD and to GFX Card.

Oh look it turns on! HOORAY!!!

The top panel is lit. Looks so nice. Damn this case is hott! Haha

This was kind of the only thing I actually did that was said near the beginning of the project. It's the TRIGUN fan grill!
Trigunfan.jpg

Got into the BIOS and it runs cooler than my other rig with 9 fans in it @ 48C right now. I can't wait to start overclocking!
