Back in the day of no money and low-capacity disk drives, I ran accross a sweet deal on some SCSI-UW "full-height" 24GB drives for pretty cheap. I just didn't have a system that could hold what would be the equivalent of 8 CD drives. So...
ahaha i hoped I Wasnt the only one!!
the thing got so damn hot that I had to put fans all around it too

Edit, I Also found another picture of a server room that is super super ghetto....look at the rackmount servers on the left!

I take what I said back, just because of that. :D

Update on my phone.

I can no longer just use it like a regular phone, I have to use a headset. This was due to my friend using it and my other friend hitting him and down goes the phone on the concrete. I'm thinking about keeping this phone for a long time, just because of it's durability.

Hi everyone, new here.
This isn't an original, I'm doing this out of necessity. The case is in the shop, getting a makeover
nobody.jpg

ghetto enough?

and the absence of a mounting bracket on the gfx card reminds me of back in the day when i had a ton of P1 machines rofl

4 foodstamps for my bein able to remember for a bit lol (couldnt figure out how to spell the bigger word cause im tired :D )

I'm only using the pci video card because of the power my 9700 takes, even at idle. I'm not doing any gaming right now (way too busy), just downloading... I took off the mounting bracket because it would push the motherboard up, and I'd get paranoid from worrying that the pci card will pop out. I turn it on by shorting the power connector on the mobo with a penny :) too lazy for pic

The inter-office mail envelope is a nice touch. now you just need some duct tape and you'll be set. :p

So thats what that was. I figured Sandpaper. :p

I just cut a soda can in half, and stuck it on my antena for my desktop wireless (my card came with an antenna that had a cord that stretch to the card), and I put half of the can on it, and my signal went from very low-low to good/very good :D I'll post a pic of it, haha.

Then I got sick of the case :)
deskcomp28jp.jpg

Too clumsy, bad airflow, too hard to work on parts. Nothing like turning on your computer with a screwdriver in the morning!

I recently put together a enw PC, I got everything but the case on time and couldn't wait to start setting it up. My favorite part is the wood to make sure HDD didn't short on the metal of the CD ROM. Also I used the brass standoffs to raise the mobo off the table enough to plug in the video card.

That's very dangerous. Even when the monitor is unplugged, you can still kill yourself. Careful with those things.

I like the pantyhose air filters though.

here are my little ghetto mods.

IM000039.jpg

gpu cooler made from an old stock amd fan.

IM000037.jpg

cutted fan grill that increased airflow by 200%(literatly it did)

IM000035.jpg

hi speed fan cooling the rest of the system. this fan will actually move around cause it lets out so much air and vibrates ALOT.

first two pics a lil blurry due to being taken with out flash and my camera sucks at taking pictures without flash.

dude ur crazy for doing that, one drop of water. BAM chernobyl

After installing my Water Cooling system, I noticed that all the other components were suffering from the missing CPU Heatsink fan and the rear exhaust 120mm fan. I noticed that my RAM, Chipset and HDD temps were now worse than they were before installing WC by a few (sometimes more) degrees. The RAM was the most worrisome as it was scolding hot to the touch and giving me errors after several hours of Memtest (I guessed to to heat). I then thought about how I could install a fan to blow air directly on them. I saw a few aftermarket products that did this, but they were mostly 40-80mm fans that probably didn't do much. I then thought about suspending a 90-120mm fan somewhere or glueing it to the bottom of my power supply, or some other way. I didn NOT want to drill or cut any holes on my case as my true modding skills (i.e. Dremel skills) really sucked. After thinking for a while, I decided to mod a PCI bay cover to securely hold a 120mm fan to blow air directly onto the Memory Dimms. What a difference! They went from being scolding hot to barely warm to the touch and would not error out even after 24+ hours of memtest!

I was happy for a few days and noticed that my two SATA drives were getting very hot (45-50 degrees at full spin/heavy usage). My first ghetto fan mod was so successful that I tried to think of new ways to cool down the HDD's with some fans I had laying around. I have an Antec case with a HDD cage and those HDD slide trays. I have one slots open on top and between the HDD's. I mounted a 80mm fan on the slide try with a zip tie and tested it out to see how restrictive the air flow was (since the back side that the fan is drawing air from is mostly covered). To my surprise, these fans were pushing a decent amount of air! I installed them above the two HDD's and it actually dropped each of the temps by 3-5 degrees at idle and about 7-10 degrees under heavy usage! I was very happy. I don't think I can fit any more fans inside my case now.

They look VERY ghetto, but highly effective. The 120mm fan especially, since it's got some paper towel wedged between the PCI bay cover and the zip tie to hold it in place and dampen the noise....but I really don't care. I'm all about function over form at this moment. I don't even have a windowed case.

well dont have a camera right now up and working, but i have a keyboard here, the legs snapped off it, which sucked...
Anyhow my ghetto mod/fix was to take some lego (yay lego!) and blue tak, make a stip out of the lego, and then using the blue tak to attach it to the keyboard, so now i have an adjustable height keyboard thats perfect for me :D

GhettoMod-001.jpg

my awesome water cooling setup... didn't have any clamps, so all fittings are sealed up with zip ties
GhettoMod-002.jpg

had to run power to the fans somehow
GhettoMod-003.jpg

my truepower 330w wasn't cutting it, so i rigged up my smartpower 350w to run my mobo, truepower runs all other drives, fans, and vid card

edit: hey i have the same case as the guy 2 posts up, awesome lol

edit2: something i don't have a pic of, is how i rigged my p4 MCW-5000 to work on my A64... i disassembled the stock hsf from my a64 and used the metal retaining mechanism from that, plus one of those magnetic strips to keep people from stealing things to hold the water block in place

My BFG 6800nu has a 2 fan heatsink (doesn't cool any better than nVidia's stock hsf  ) and one of the 40mm fans will start clicking every now and then because of dust or whatever. Usually a simple tap will get it running smoothly again, but last week I tapped it a little too hard and it broke. I tried usuing an 80mm fan pointing up toward the card while leaning on my hard drives, but that didn't make much difference and my card was running at 80*C and artifacting a ton in WoW (even after I took it back down to stock speeds, it would still artifact, stutter, or lock up in WoW). The solution? Use another 40mm fan (duh):

Two rubber bands are holding it on pretty well, and a couple crushed packing peanuts keep it from vibrating on the heatsink (the fan is also controlled by a rheobus, its inaudible at 7v compared to everything else).

Nice ghetto loop there Elysian, somehow I forgot to post mine here when I had it running 3 1/2 months ago, so here's the pics now :D

Well, story behind this is...
When Hurricane Katrina hit my house and tree fell over our power meter. Which caused the lines to pull away from the pole lines. What i was told happened was the neutral line tore, and when alabama power turned the power back on, they were retards and didnt survery the damge. Without the neutral wire it will send like 400 volts through the whole house. Well sure enough, thats what happened. fried all 3 of my computers power supplies. The next day i took them out, they were litterly black from being burnt. I'm glad my house didnt catch on fire. So i remembered i had an old 150w PSU from my 600mhz. gateway. I plugged it into the newer computer, then noticed that it didnt have a certain connection. the yellow, yellow, black, black. connector cord. So i went to my other computer and cut the cord i needed off of that PSU. Then, using scotch tape, i taped the cords together. I didnt think it would work, but sure enough, it worked. I used the computer like this for aboout 2 days.

Wires taped together

It actualy worked

Looks like samurize with a nice wallpaper and a dark xpstyle if you ask me. I could be wrong tho !

heres a very temporary g[h]etto rigging i have on my desk. currently im building a pc for my friend, but were using his current case, and he wont be able to come over until tomorrow w/ it.

now, is any true geek just gonna let 1200$ worth of secksi computer equipment sit in boxes beside his desk for a few days?? heck no!! :D so i decided to open up all of the pretty boxes and build his PC on my desk (on top of cardboard... im not stupid.. )

the beast will have a nice new home tomorrow, but in the meantime, its my benchmarking rig ;)

A64 x2 3800, DFI SLI-DR, 1GB Corsair, 7800GT, 120GB SATA, and Antec NeoPower480.

notice the ghetto cool of the HDD and graphics card, and im gonna add one to the RAM to temporarily knock up the voltage

i apologize in advance for the crappy pics, but i was too lazy to try and find my digital camera, so i just took some w/ my camera phone. ahh, the wonders of camera phones...

I did this mod quite a long time ago, when the computer was pissing me off. I didn't even really punch it that hard and it just folded on me. Oh vell. Notice the power button on the floor and the lack of a DVD-rom drive that got tore out when it refused to read a disc.

This is my 900mhz get me by until my new rig is completed, look at the front of the case and tell me what game i liked to play in 2002.

hi quimz

cool "mod"

i guess you liked to play enemy..... whats its name?
hehe i still like to play et

4.0 foodstamps because anyone can do that mod but it takes a special kind of person to actually do it

DONT LIE TO US QUIMZ!
