Should have explained it, it absorbs of the vibrations from the (steel) case, which previously were very audible because of the stiff plastic feet.

My contribution:
An emergency project. I needed to do a project, and my total buget was $0. This was going to be a bit-torrent downloading box. It never got fully finished, as I got job the next day. Drive 'plate' is a Puffs box I cut the right size (more or less) to keep bugs and such out.

Micro-ATX board with intergrated ISA sound and PCI video
Floppy drive
Tape drive that I don't have tapes for, plugs into the floppy cable, used to plug hole.
Old Micro-ATX case
Full-sized 300Watt powersupply (came with a $50 full-tower case orginally) crammed into the PS spot. I burnt off one of the floppy Berg connectors by plugging in a floppy drive without looking (and missing).

I've seen worse. I was volunteering at not-profit org. briefly and two of ports on their 16 port rackmount hub (no rack of course) were connected to the same CAT 5, someone had hooked up another system in a room using the un-used pairs in a single Cat 5 cable. About an inch of exposed pairs on the hub side, I didn't want to see the other side. The outlet it was plugged into didn't have a face-plate, for even more gheto-ness.

Add a $100.00 ghetto 12v screen and one of those Radioshack fold up keyboards and you sir have the most ghetto laptop I have ever seen :)

the genral idea is to keep your computer more comfertable then you are:

future upgrades to this fully expandable system include a pressure difrentiatior to prevent overheating in an event of AC failure (a piece of paper taped to a hole in the side), a flow indicator (a pinwheel) and a DB meter (piece of paper to tally mom's bitching)

now that is so badass!! i was actually inspired a few pages ago w/ some KNex drive kits and build some KNex speaker stands and a center speaker stand/utility stand and remote stand. maybe ill post pics soon.

I had a crack at Fabre's ghetto mod tonight; the 5&1/4" drive bay storage. I used the drive's bezel and sanded the "24x max" label off with a nail file.
I ripped the rheostat from the cdrom and superglued it, so the volume control would still be there.
Also superglued a tab, (I just grabbed a shopping bag, cut a piece off with nail cutters because I couldnt find scissors) I couldnt think of another way of opening this.
