Post your Eyefinity workstation

The answer was stated very bluntly by an ATI dev a long time ago. Basically, the entire Eyefinity feature was hastily added in by a team of two people under strict time and budget restrictions. The options were to roll with the half-baked setup we have now or scrap the whole thing. All things considered, this is better than the alternative.

I agree. I don't even have an ATi card yet but I'd rather deal with Eyefinity's quirks and have it work for some games than not have it at all. Sure there are other triple head solutions but Eyefinity does offer some advantages and hopefully since it's still in its infancy it will be improved with future cards & drivers.

Here's my setup!

Just moved to a new house and I have office 2.0 in the works...

Big thanks to McKie for the display arms I bought off him... these things rock! once I get things more dialed in I will snap off a few more pics. those are 23.6" displays on the eyefinity rig. kind of wishing I had gotten the 25.5s but oh well... eventually I will want to get nicer panels... these are pretty cheap but they do look good and it's works very well for now.

I'm a newbie to the forums, thought I'd post some quick shots of my Eyefinity set up here...

I really want to get a new desk. I got that one for free and I was a bit skeptical because of how narrow it is on on the top. I ended up bringing it home anyway and low and behold: narrow. It's hard to really enjoy Eyefinity when you are so close to the screens, I think I would benefit if I had some more room between my mouse/kb and my monitors. Too bad there's no IKEA in Panama! Still awesome to play in Eyefinity though that's for damn sure :D

Nice setup. Here's the pictures. You need to do [img_]urlHere[/img_] and remove underscores.

Welcome to the forums. I liked your set up. I noticed in the second picture you showed BC2. I got it today on the 360 and I'm loving it. I would have got it on the PC, but my brother's paying for it and he doesn't like to mess with the PC.

Thanks Lancid. Wasn't sure if the pictures were too large to put on so I just hyperlinked them.

@ Aaron11 - BC2 for PC is pretty amazing.

I really wish I could sit down and try one of these before committing to building one myself. Don't get me wrong they look awesome I just don't know if I could deal with the bars created by the bezels.

I can understand your caution, but I can tell you (along with 95%+ of the other Eyefinity users) that after about oh say...12 seconds of playing, you don't notice the bezels too much at all. Of course thin bezels will be nicer, so to open up more real estate, but it's really not bad right now. Especially in any game that is paced quickly, your eyes simply don't have time to fixate on bezels.

Yep... it's like the A-pillars in your car between the windshield and the front doors.. you just tune them out. when I play FPS games I stair at the forward display and let the other two just immerse me in the game with peripheral content.. it took me a little bit to stop looking at them and just let them be peripheral, but now that I have trained myself a little it's just disgustingly cool stuff.. when I play an overhead view RPG like torchlight or LOTRO, I end up stairing directly at the other displays a lot more but still, the bezels do not bother me. ymmv tho

what does it mean by settings? take a picture of the settings?

Sounds cool, just want to make sure I post correct so I don't get knocked out for not having the right picture

Well, I can only surmise they mean your "setup" aka gear.. etc... settings doesn't make a lot of sense..

took another pic of my setup while playing torchlight tonight.. definitely like the height of the displays with these arms.

McKie - 100% bonefied bad ass. :)

weirdsauce - I spy jim beam in your pics. nice.

Pheonixdancer - is that as high as your mount goes or do you just like your displays low?

How are your temps with the crossfire cards that close together? I also have two HD 5870's on my ASUS P6T and I just put a small piece of paper that was folded a few times in between the two cards to spread them a bit. Temps are better now.

They can go 2 inches higher.

I have them that low as its more comfy for me, my chair is kinda low and its perfect keyboard height :D

gotcha... it'a kind of cool that way also.. looks like a wall of display with no gap on the bottom. :)

I just got this setup a couple days ago, haven't had time to clean up all the cables and stuff. Will probably be getting a triple lcd desk mount eventually too.

shouldn't these be considered "gaming stations" instead of workstations? lol

NO!

I consider my machine 70% workstation 30% gamer.

I work or school work on my computer more hours a week then I do gaming and EYEFINITY makes that just the much nicer.
Being able to have all the extra landscape for the tasks at hand is really nice.

Good setup man!

I dont like the 45 degree angle BUT I do like the sexiness of it being mounted like that ^_^

The pictures just make it look like it has a big angle . Its not at 45. I don't even think I could get it at that angle

Blasphemy!

Seriously though, I'm a network administrator and the more screens I have, the better. You need the landscape when running network monitoring software, SSH clients, spreadsheets, web interfaces, etc. I can make that happen with multiple video cards...or one nice one. :)

yeah - McKie has a nice station.. Still loving the arms I bought off him also.. I guess my lighter displays don't get bumped off center as easily as the 25.5s he had on these arms.. I'm not having issues and I do bump them from time to time.. they seem to stay put well and the height is perfect.
