Question. Timed experience boosters. For example 1 hour XP booster. Is 1 hour a play time or calendar time?

Can I activate 1 hour booster and play 30 minutes today and 30 minutes tomorrow with it? Or will it expire in 1 hour after activation independently of me playing or not playing the game?
 
Boosters are in real world time, they start when you buy them and run out after the allotted time, you can't split their time as far as I know.

You only have 1 booster slot though be careful with that, especially if you bought alpha squad and have a 6 month +10% exp boost already.
 
Just started playing this last night. Loads a fun but, a lot going on. Any tutorials on all the game features?
 
I just used 1 days 50% XP booster. It is very nice 1 day booster because I play only 1 day per week whole day :) And it worth every cent I spent on it.

Managed to achieve playable frame rates on my Radeon 5870 and i5 2500k overclocked to 4GHz.

1. Put absolutely minimum possible settings. See below
2. Put PS2 process to high priority in Windows

Plays more or less fine now.

Just started playing PS2 this weekend, and excusing a few issues, and stuff, the game for being only 1 week after release, plays really well. My brothers and I playing, just had minor issues with the map, and buddy status, etc...But hopeful these little things will be improved.

Graphics = :eek: :D The Dusk / Night / Dawn setting is fucking amazing, looks so cool, I much prefer that over the midday look. Playing this on my 30" monitor @ 2560 x 1600 res, full highest settings in-game, and nVidia control panel with highest quality settings, and the game looks AMAZING, and really smooth, no lag or hiccups, just plays really nice.

Aren't there more than one map for this game ? I thought there were three different maps / continents ? How do you switch to those other ones ?

On the map screen, upper left. You can select each of the 3 continents and then deploy on the available areas.

To expand on this, if you aren't able to Deploy at the time, go to the warpgate (redeploy if you need to) and find the computer with the planet symbol above it.

Since people have been playing around with the config files, is there anyway to forcefully enable the gpu physics?

I haven't taken the time to do this myself and curious if anyone else has messed with it, or do the devs just flat out have it disabled at the moment?

No I just set the Render Distance to 1200m, Flora to 0, and Shaddows to 0. Hello 60 FPS!
 
Is there a particular trick to getting this game to work with Windows 8?

A Google search mentioned something about removing all USB joysticks from the system as well as downloading a specific DLL file. I'm hesitant to download strange DLL files and don't have any joysticks hooked up.
 
Haven't played the game for several months and hopped in for 3 hrs last night. Wow, the game is a lot more fun now. Part of that has to do with the increased player base and the optimizations they've been doing.

No complaints so far except for the rate at which you gain cert points. They should set it so your first 24 hours of game time will net you enough cert points to buy several large items. As it stands now I played 3 hrs and have 50 cert points, some guns cost 1000 certs. That's just insane.

It is not insane. This game is free but developers must earn money somehow. If cert points will be racking up like crazy what the reason to pay for the boosters etc?

I dropped 20 Euros and bought good sniper rifle, AA rockets and new anti infantry gun for the tank and 1 day 50% XP booster.

I think I might maximum spent 40 Euros on the game like if it was a normal not FTP game. Everything else I will be able to get with certs. And since the certs are coming really slow you will appreciate every single upgrade :)

Iplayed whole day yesterday and now I have 100 free certs. I need 200 for Bouncing Betty for sniper. Cant wait

I was surprised by efficiency of AA rockets. Very few planes are using flares at the moment. Though, as time go and more people will use flires situatin will change.
 
The game is fun but I feel like there is a lack of a purpose other than to have epic battles. There seems to be nothing to keep me playing other the hope of a cool assault and whatnot.

Do you play BF series? PS2 is same shit but on the epic scale :)

Though, BF shooting mechanics feels a bit more solid then PS2.

I heard there was issues with some deaths not being tracked.

This game has been in beta since the summer. Plenty of time for people to develop hacks for the game. I've not ran into one, but I've read about them being used on the official and fan forums. No game is immune to hacks.
 
game is tons of fun so far, I live and die for small outpost skirmishes. Made so many friends after winning a small outpots and then forming a loose raiding squad and riding around the outskirts capturing bases. Then splitting up and bumping into each other later in the middle of a massive 3 way battle with all hell breaking loose everywhere you turn. Last nite 6 of us went on a sniper hunting mission while at least 300 people were battling all out around us, game is fucking awesome when you have a sense of comradie, it really draws you into the battle when it feels like you can actually make a difference in swaying the outcome, even if it's something small like guarding a generator or capturing the high ground and scouting for snipers.

Last night NC was heavily loosing on one continent for the whole day. Then some guy came, formed a platoon with like 200+ guys. I joined. Then we moved ahead following all his orders. Within 2 hours minutes we managed to win like 40% of continent. It was even not funny how easy all these outposts were taken by us in organized group. But somewhere in the middle of the map we faced similar organized enemy platoon and this is where we could not proceed anymore. That was kind of fun :)

Yeah General battles are epic, theres this guy named BuzzCuttPsycho on Twitch who gets into some serious squareoffs with other generals sometimes. My goon squad has bumped into a few of these platoons, we were stampeded and stomped like we weren't even there, 20 vs 200 and they came out of nowhere like, oh shit im dead.

Yeah, I know the feeling. Once I was sniping in the middle of nowhere at night. I was alone somewhere in the mountains. It was dark all around and suddenly I saw the tank. So, I had no way to hide so I just sit in the grass hoping tank will not see me in the dark. Suddenly I saw a huge tank platoon following the first tank. I was lucky that behind me was a tree and tanks needed to go around the tree and didn't drive over me by accident. That was scary as hell moment when 100 or so enemy tanks were driven passing me and I was sitting there and praying that noone notice lone sniper sitting in the grass surrounded by enemy tanks.

I think we can nominate this game as a scariest game of 2012 :)
 
I just went 41-1 this morning with my NC sniper. TR was attacking the Mao Tech Plant and I just happened to deploy in the most perfect spot where I had a clear shot at the pile of TRs trying to get in through the back entrance. There was so much going on at that entrance that I guess no one was able to tell where the shots were coming from. I cannot wait until the next time I go on a spree like that. :D

I bought LC80 sniper rifle and 10x scope and I still cannot hit a shit with it. Headsots are so difficult to land with it.

I was mulling over starting a sniper alt, but would need the perfect upgrade path, because my sniper skills suck d
 
I use the stock gun with 10X scope. Are you trying to hit moving targets? Moving targets are extremely difficult to head shot. I can take out moving targets out in 2 hits, but doing so results in me wasting too much ammo. The ones that are standing or crouched in position... those make for easy targets.

whats a good rifle to pick off moving targets? the carnival duck shooting game was always a favorite of mine as a kid.

Tank with anti infantry rounds? :) THose rounds has like 10 meters explosion radius.

I once was cleaning with those rounds enemy spawn point. Was a lot of fun and a lot of kills in 40 seconds. I think IU got like 4 cert points in these 40 seconds , so many kills.

with so many players its easy to suck or dominate. I find that so few people flank, and its easy to get in position to drop enemies as they spawn or change class on the APC.... As TR I picked up the bolt action sniper rifle and put a 4x on it. Were fighting at some complex and I must have went 40-0 dropping guys at this hallway checkpoint.

Most of the time its chaos, but now and then I see the orghanization take hold and thats when shit gets wild. +

LA80 on the NC side because it's the same as the stock, but without the bullet drop. I think it also reloads a little bit quicker. The LA80 probably wouldn't help me out much with moving targets. Once they've taken one body shot they usually start erratic movements which makes it very hard to land the second shot (if in distant range) and usually ends up just being a waste of ammo + risk of giving your position away to others.

V10 is the best on VS and I've never tried TR yet so I don't know their rifles.

Oh yeah. I played primarily as Infiltrator before I moved to the skies, and would always flank around behind enemy lines, sniping stationary targets from long-range. It's so intense dancing around a tree trying to avoid tanks, and then a tank manages to come from behind and blast you in one shot, making you almost shit your pants. :D

Usually the most dangerous tanks are your own sides. I think about 30% of kills come from tank drivers just plowing through bunches of people. The tank sides do seem to be very very deadly just a small brush at low speed can kill you it seems. :D

Finally ended up dying 5 kills later because I forgot to play a bouncing betty behind me to prevent someone from knifing me in the back (which is exactly what happened). Now I know of these magical kill streaks that others have mentioned here before.

That son of a bitch. He was farming me all day. :D
I'm sure somewhere in that recording is where I got greedy and tried to take him out with my Mosquito's guns at close range. His Lib dove straight down and gave the bomber a point blank shot at me. I did shoot him down eventually though. His pilot is really good and kept him in a pack to keep from getting singled out and shot down by enemy pilots.

It's hard to tell from that video, but there was a giant rock that my Sundy was parked behind. His screen must not have been rendering it. I had no idea that he could see me that well. He may have thought it stupid for me to move the sundy closer, but we had to capture that territory. When I moved the Sundy next to the building, some people could spawn and run under the building that was elevated to protect themselves. It was worth risking a few players to capture that point. I knew our team was right behind and eventually he would have to deal with a few mosquitoes. I just had to keep the Sundy alive long enough.
 
Starting to get much better at Reaver piloting. I had a 3.8 KDR just as Infiltrator (rising steadily), and I'm now hovering around a 3.9 from flying around the Reaver. It took a shit-ton of time to get used to though, flying is really frustrating when you're first starting out. Yes, I'm a KDR whore, and no it does not stem from Call of Duty-- it's from CS and BF3. :p

Suprisingly I've actually been ran over just a couple times. To be fair though, I stay the hell away from the road and stick to the elevated terrain, pretty much walking everywhere myself.

Congrats! I pulled the same feat a few days ago (50-0), and went 62-2 before I took a break. I really need to start using those motion detectors (I can't even remember the name since I never use them), as pretty much all my deaths stem from someone sneaking around and shooting/knifing me in the back. How long do those last?
