Official Galaxy Nexus Thread

We came from Samsung Moments and the Nexus is just incredible compared to those.

We also have 4g lte in our town through Verizon and it just smokes Sprint here!

hows the NFC and google wallet going, does it work smoothly or there are still too many companies missing? i heard walmart and bank of america doing something different.

I haven't used Google Wallet since the fiasco with getting around needing a PIN for the debit card and Google taking it down.

Has that been restored yet?

I took my phone out of its case again. Feels so much nicer, cases just can't make it feel as solid and good in your hand.

I agree on the case. I use the Incipio case I bought at Verizon store, the double case for protection. And yes it helps if dropped during work day, but makes the phone so bulky and look even larger. Out of the case the Nexus feels pretty slim and small like an iPhone almost.

Just installed AOKP because I was tired of waiting for 4.0.5 Kind of disapointed that the auto restore didn't work, but at least the toolkit restore seemed to work. All I hope is that I no longer have to reboot every 4-5 days to fix some bug or crash like I was starting to get on stock.

Was there even a software update for the LTE version? I'm still on the same 4.0.2 that it shipped with (although I am rooted and unlocked in case I find anything that suits me).

CDMA version is at either 4.0.3 or 4.0.4 where as the GSM is still at 4.0.2.

Neither of those have been pushed OTA though, they were just leaked online for you to flash manually AFAIK. Pretty sure the Verizon Nexus is still officially on 4.0.2.

I thought I recalled reading about 4.0.3 being pushed but later being retracted due to some issues. Oh well, can't say for certain as I only have the GSM version.

Does anyone know if the GN will take the same wired headsets with microphones that the iPhone does? I don't want to just buy one to find out. I know volume buttons won't work either way, only the function button.

I'm pretty sure it does because it comes with headphones that (I think) have a mic on them. At least it had a little hole on the controls for the headphones that are about the same length from the buds as your ears are to your mouth, so I think that was the mic. I haven't tried using them as a mic yet though, so you may want to search to confirm that.

Yep there is a mic there. I was concerned it was a different connector layout like the first Galaxy S. Then I realized I could just try the GN headset in an iPod Touch. It works.

Edit: The headset I ended up going with was the UE 500vi. Free overnight is nice.

-_- Cause the iPhone is really that different from any other smartphone. I'm sure too many people would be confused if they labelled it for smartphones instead of for iPhone.

Hope you like the UEs, I use a pair of TripleFi 10vis as my headset. Works perfectly.

Well they use a proprietary data/charging connector, so it's understandable to assume they would have their own headphone/mic pin layout too :p.

The builds are for specific devices. 4.0.2 is the current one for both GSM and CDMA. 4.0.3 was meant for the Nexus S but pulled. 4.0.3 is also the last kernel that was released, thus why almost all 3rd party roms use it. 4.0.4 was leaked and was meant to address CDMA Nexus issues (Maybe GSM too, but I haven't heard) but allegedly was a interim build, and the official one was to be 4.0.5 which is also supposed to be the version Sprint's phone will use. Nothing else has been said since the 4.0.4 leak about when it was supposed to be released. The last I've seen was sometime this month.

I just bought one of these

http://www.andetch.com/products-page/

I bought something similar for my EVO but the guy was making them himself. Where as this guy is buying them wholesale and then etching them. I haven't received it yet put I will post a couple of pic's when I get it in. I bought the Android Army one for the GSM.

I liked the idea cause I don't use a case or screen protector on my phones. I have always hated them. Never had a problem with dropping phones either. When you pay full price for your phone your a bit more careful with it, then say, if you bought one on contract, lol.

I don't know this guy or his site. Used paypal to pay for it also. Not sure about how he is shipping it either. My guess would be USPS cause it's the cheapest.
