Well that didn't take long.

I don't think they thought so many would load up the new client in a 24 hour period :p

GJ stanford.

Maybe your buddy nvidia can let you borrow a server to serve up some WUs so we can actually use these GPUs. :(

The server is currently in reject mode so all we can do is wait for them to wake up and kick the server back into activity.

They're just waiting for my new video card to come in the mail... It's really nice of them to wait for me. ;)

/ducks :D

I don't think they learned their lesson with the small PS3 work units and the resulting crashes. It's better to have larger work units and less network activity.

I'm thinking the same. Hell, with those WU taking only 20-30 mins to complete, it's bound to overload the server with the big surge of new NVIDIA users. They need to make those WU 5x bigger to reduce the load.

Nothing wrong with a 3-5 hour GPU WU.

Between EUE's making some SMP clients download every couple hours and now this, they are going to need something to be adjusted.

What keeps them from having a much longer GPU WU. I mean, 12 hours even would be a good time. Would we get into a memory issue at that point?

The server should be back up by now :)

I think I killed the server or something :p The power went out on my block just now, only took the power company 15 minutes to fix, and as soon as I turned my computer back on, there's work again! :)

I'm really impressed with how fast they got working on getting the power back.. I swear, every time there is a blackout now I always think of that summer a few years ago where the power was out for almost two days... It was such a nightmare, I get so paranoid about the power being out for that long again.. Thank God for electricity. :D

Wow  two days without electricity I feel for you. :(

"Knock on wood" any power failures I have are usually only a blurp (like a few seconds) or at the most a few minutes, but in your case you'd need a UPS that would cost a "zillion $'s and be as big as an apartment building  :D

Good luck and just look into a wind farm with a propellor as big as a 747 (only kidding, I know 747's use jet type engines, Boeing is just down the road) :)

OBTW: Your bedroom looks about as crowded as mine, between 5x boxen, bunches of junk and the cat it gets pretty crowded in here. (a one bedroom apartment with 2x security cameras) :p

Oh that blackout was really the worst two days of my life.. (Okay maybe the day I became disabled was the worst day.. but the power outage is right up there with it ;)).. I remember my father telling me the entire Northeast had no power, and I asked him if he thought they would fix it soon and he goes "Yeah right". It was about 100F outside... and we had no air conditioner or fans or anything, it was soooo bad!

My room IS pretty crowded, I can't imagine fitting 5 computers in here heh. Doesn't the cat drive you crazy sometimes? I have to clean off the grills on my fans everyday because they get clogged with cat hair (And bird dander.. ugh.. I hate having two parrots in the same room as my computers).

Has the GPU2 client stopped working again for anyone else, or is it just me? It just keeps doing test proteins.

This is really a little ironic......Evil and I were talking about the NV client yesterday, and server issues were a big part of that conversation.....

Didn't think it would happen this quickly, figured it would take a few days at least..

Thus the reason I kept both SMPs running on that machine while I am away on work.. .bet you my machine is back upto 3.4k on both SMPs up from about 2.2k with the GPU2 going full bore!..

You think that's bad? I have 7 running computers in one room. That's not counting the parts and partial machines.

And cats would probably be a breeze compared to cleaning up after a kid. :p

Hey Flecom --- could you help StanF4rd with their servers?

My room is just very small.. My bed pretty much takes up all the room and it's only a full size. I couldn't fit 7 computers in here unless I felt like sleeping with them in my bed at night :)

And I can't even imagine taking care of a child.. I'm barely responsible enough to take care of two birds, two fish and a cat... I don't think I could be responsible to care for a human being.. yet :)

I'm at 10 computers in a 600sqft condo... how's that fair? With 2-3 more coming on line in the next 2 months.

Under the bed so it act as a nice bed warmer ?

Dammit you guys made me feel like crap for complaining about two computers ;) They must act as nice heaters in the winter though, yes?

Sunin wins! :D

I just my farm (4 diskless) in the basement away from my daughter and my 2 cats ;)

I've got seven desktops and my laptop in my living room......it's hotter than hell in here and it's only 80 degrees outside right now......

Once the warm weather sets in, I'm screwed......

Oh well......stays pretty toasty in the winter. Got to love Colorado weather....30 degrees and snow in the winter, and 90+ in the summer:)

I'm really excited about moving at least one of my q6600/nvidia rigs to the basement soon. My 2nd floor room which has two of the above mentioned rigs makes it into the high 80s during warm days.

Hey, has anyone else hit a EUE limit?
[14:19:34] EUE limit exceeded. Pausing 24 hours.

I just exited the program and went back in and it seems to be fine now. I think something might be wrong with this though because looking at the log.. I don't know if i'm stupid today, but it looks like it's finishing WU's in like 6 seconds? :S Ok actually now it says my pc is unstable lol. I'll check that link you sent. Here's a piece of the log anyways

Ok after reinstalling it I'm getting download error.
Edit: Haha now when it finally gets the core file it's back to UNSTABLE_MACHINE

Dammit you guys made me feel like crap for complaining about two computers ;) They must act as nice heaters in the winter though, yes?

Let me put it this way. In past winters without all these machines I had to run the furnace all the time. It was hell on the electric bill. Once I got up to the number of machines I have now, the furnace ran maybe 1/4 as much. Something to keep in mind, this was the coldest winter in probably a decade around here. I'm talking sub freezing temperatures for a couple weeks at a time.

Sunin wins! :D

Ha!!! I keep mine out in plain site so it's basically an obstacle course to get through my living room. Keeps you on your toes.:D
