Network pics thread

That thing cost as much as my entire gaming computer. I'd sooner buy a decommissioned p3 or p4 server and throw some PCI cards in it.
That said it does look cool.

I paid $150, your gaming computer sucks, haha (just kidding, just saying it's possible to score them cheap on ebay)

Took this one today at a client of mine, I put this in about a year ago. It pivits open but in this case, it doesnt (no room)... i had to go back today to add 2 more data lines, and it was a piece of cake because of the wire management.

calvinj, i was talking about the piece of equipment in the first picture, top of the rack-

I had to go back and look at it because I couldn't remember either. It's actually an un-managed net gear switch we have in the rack for testing wan stuff.

I'm finally "done", at least until I can save ~$2000 for my F@H cluster ;)

Here's my network diagram.

Not much more to do... the Primary Server will have 2 Linux VMs with their own PPPoE connections (and public IPs), and the host OS (Server 2k8) just has LAN/standard Internet access. The testing server has 6 Gigabit links, letting me completely mess around with it (its purpose).

I'll sell that 506 before I upgrade it. All it's been doing is terminating a remote access vpn for my lab. Well I just fixed that today so now my 2620 is doing the remote access vpn and the site to site vpn between a buddy and i. I have no need for it.

So if someone wants to pick of a cheap 506. PM Me

How do you like the Symantec Appliance running pfsense? There was one on Craigslist around here for $200 a few weeks back, and I'd seen some indication that it would run pfsense but no solid doc or proof so I didn't take the chance.

Decent performance and stability? Think it's worth ~$150 if it's still available?
(looks like it's still available, model is a 1660)

Yea it's great. It's a Via C3 and it's really stable, though I don't really have a high workload ;)

Would you reccommend Vyatta over Endian?

Its a standard patch panel I use... but I put a cable manager behind it and tie off all my cables. Makes for a nice look (especially in cabinets). For cabinets its great so you can take the whole patch panel out and all the wires are neat. With regular relay racks, not so much needed but still nice to use:

I have other photos of various jobs I've worked on here, lots of wiring pics from various cabinets:

I haven't used it much yet, but it's really an OSS replacement to Cisco IOS... it's Debian but the shell and configuration commands are all like IOS.

I dunno, I found the CLI on Vyatta to be more cumbersome and complicated than 3Com or Nortel. Not at all like Cisco IOS.

Wow! I must say some nice equipment there. How many of those switches are there, and what model?

random guess is some 3750s....

i spotted a few 10G links on their core(assuming core anyway) i'm guessing they wanted Gbit to the desktop and then very well engineered filtering in an attempt to control the craziness that is LAN parties. me and a few friends personally killed a file server at one once. burned out the spindles/heads in the IDE drives :D:cool:

ninja edit: i noticed wireless access points, did anyone see a controller/WCS? I admittedly only skimmed...curious how much usage the wireless network saw.

lots of stuff in there.

3750E's
3560's
CRS-1 firefly(4 slots chassis)
6500's w/ vss-s720 sups
10G blocking and no blocking line cards looks like(for core and internet(as per their whiteboard, lol))

Working for Cisco in europe + nerds = this :D ... its always the Brussels guys that do crazy crap like this.

few 6509-E's with 10g, theres another 10g card + optics ordered for both and all the 1g connections on them are getting migrated to 10g plus 4 new connections added, the SR is getting replaced to LR (used for span connection on both)
