Network pics thread

good call on the cell phone pics, people need to understand... big iron network gear = no cameras in the area = stealth iphone/etc/etc cameras. And yes, I did just say big iron... LOL

You're all over the place man.. Foundry, Cisco, Juniper.. What's next.

I'll keep up some network porn all though it's kind of the same stuff

Night shot of one of the server rooms I take care of. 3 Data switches, Core Switch and Pix Firewall. If I would have gotten a little further down I would have gotten our j2350 in there

Just a little rack changing. Need to be making room for some new toys one of these days

Okay I wanted to contribute since I have been spending days going through every page of this thread, and now going through it again ;)

Anyways, here are a few pictures of my home office. I will start with my rack and gather pictures of other parts when they are finished. But here we go:

The top portion of the rack is dedicated to my main network, while all the rest besides the server is for my CCNA lab. In that lab I have:

2x 2620XMs
2x 2524s
1x 2610
1x 2611
2x 2950s
1x 3924

The server is setup as ESXi running a few OSes for my network and a linux virtual machine thrown into the mix ;)

I wanted to have remote console access to my lab, especially when going to my fiancee's parents for HOURS.. I needed something to do besides right clicking on my laptop making it look like I am busy so why not study!

This panel runs to all the cisco equipment:
img00076201003222228.jpg

annnd this one runs to a dell box that I will be RDPing into as my terminal server:

img00077201003222229.jpg

I have the "boost" package with static IPs from my ISP, here is my recent test:

I will add more to this later as well.

CiscoInside, what hardware are you planning to use in the terminal server?

Just a regular work station running xp, with 3 quatech dual serial cards. Plus the serial com already provided by the mobo. Only thing is, I need two more serial ports, I have heard on other forums to try USB adapters out for that.

I will get some screen shots up later.

Funny thing is before last night I was barely hitting 13-15 down. I had an old Belkin wireless router as my gateway, the only reason I still had it functioning in the network was more of sentimental value. But it would just not do port forwarding correctly so I retired it and hooked up my Linksys as the gateway and now I am seeing speeds I have never seen before.

Makes sense, but what a difference.

@marley1 - yupp you bet! Out in Central Suffolk, are you on the Island as well? Never had a problem with Opt ;)

We are out in Westhampton, I live in Middle Island. www.fluidimagery.com

Thats us. You a consultant or what?

I do a little bit consulting but more or less in that "between jobs" state (great great great change into the right field) - focusing on my CCNA, class, etc.

Like the site, how is business out there? I imagine the eastern end is popping up a bit.

Little later on I will get a few more pics up of the terminal server, and hopefully the rest of my office :D

That is a great suggestion! With that, all I would need is one card plus the on board and I would be set, without using all of my pci slots in the process. Then I can get away with sticking another nic in the machine since I have available slots and run that to my lab.

Pretty much does the exact effect as an access server :)

That is awesome, thanks!

it is pretty sexy...so arent these 2 guys :)

Those Nexuses (Nexuii?) are dirty bastards. For better or worse, thanks to them, my name is well known at TAC and the Nexus BU haha. I should get a cut or a free CCIE for all the crap I find on them.

dude, come on..... Ive seen more advanced stuff in the DCN practices LAB network than at your shop. Stop tooting your own horn.

BTW, there is no such thing as the Nexus BU :p

If I had a dollar for every time you've mentioned something about a nexus and cisco tac in the same sentence I would be rich. If you bitch so much why don't get get rid of them.. Get something Juniper so the boys in the tac don't have to have to know you

Heheh, now I know why there's so many issues with these :p

I'd like to comment, but I can't.

Haha, yeah. I like messin w/u man. :)

I say it all the time, nexus is getting more and more stable and vPC is a killer feature. My company is known to push/be assholes to vendors, but that's how shit gets better.

Deep inside though, we like vendors.. and w/o bugs.. work would be boring.

If nexus supported vpnv4 they would definitely be at the core rather than just distro switches :)

i would like for my 48port copper blade to be supported with vpc enabled too...have to power the card down to enable vpc...guess those ones are going to go towards the next big order as a TMP credit ;)

Why don't you get an ASync port for one of those 2600 series or get a 2500 that has it built in? That way you don't have to tun all of those individual cables and you can then access it remotely?

Well I was going to but my budget would not allow it, they are a little pricey. Using an extra machine I had around, 30 dollar card and voila - remote access (plus the benefit of using the machine on the lab network as well).

Get a Digi CM! best purchase ever.

32 console connections via SSH, and they have server software to get virtual local ports etc. Amazingly powerful little devices, and you can throw a pcmcia modem or wireless card in it for dial up connections. Their Java web front end works fairly well too, and you can integrate it with AD!

Kinda overkill for at home, but I like it, I probably have 10 or so devices on it.

^Agreed, overkill for home but cool. Dedicated console servers are awesome, we use Avocent Cyclades gear at work :D

That thing cost as much as my entire gaming computer. I'd sooner buy a decommissioned p3 or p4 server and throw some PCI cards in it.
That said it does look cool.
