Network pics thread

Bunch of 7975's and a UC540 I'm configuring. Yes, I know my desk is too small.
File

can i have just one of them :D i want one for my office real bad but cant justify the cost LOL.

They're very pricey! I have no clue how we manage to keep selling them. I guess they just look so damn cool. :)

Upgrades!

The most obvious changes are the switch (upgrade from an HP 2524 to a D-Link DXS-3227, finally my main network is Gigabit!) and the disabling of my pfSense router because I messed it up (a D-Link DGL-4300 is taking up its slack). Plus, I finally got around to putting some sides on my rack (the pink foam insulation). I was hoping it would help the noise a bit more than it is, since the DXS is freaking loud, but hey what can you do!

The new switch, looking awesome.

Old switch disconnected and ready to go.

New switch installed and looking good.

@xphil3

nice, I like the square hole 2-post racks, all mine have stripped out threaded holes every few U :p

I'll need to post up a few pics, I'm up to 4 separate racks at home, not nearly as full though!

Ok, so I finally got all of the junk in to get everything mounted and tidy in my rack, so here go the pics.

(The last time I posted my stuff in here... ~3 years ago, it was all shambled into an old glass front audio cabinet :p )

This is the rack as was in its temp state. (Dont you hate how flashes make everything look dirty?)

Some of the new stuff waiting to go in.

All of the old stuff out.
Left to right, top to bottom:
Belkin UPS, Moto modem for ATT dsl, netscreen 5xp, wrt300n (running tomato, used as a wap,) Marconi Fore ES something or other, 2924, DXS 3227, 3524, C2D e4300 file/game/etc server (Sv2k3,) Supermicro 5013 running pfsense 1.2.3 RC3 (4xgig,) 2910, 2920, X2 5200 ESXi server (will be role-swapped with c2d server once ram upgrades roll in.)

Everything in its place

The marconi is going to a friend, and the amd server is getting a rack case, so they didnt make final pics.

I have a 12 port patch panel in the rear of the rack which is going to connect to ports 1-12 of the main patch once I get time to punch everything. This will be to send cat5 to pcs and such around the house.

ok ok a few years have gone by and i've never posted anything.

Here's what we have going on right now

Sorry if the pictures look bad, they were taken with my cell phone. I'd post more pictures, but they all look the same pretty much.

man, my previous IT Director totally went out and bought all Enterasys switches for our closests because he used it at his previous school... now me (previously the network engineer, now the IT Director) is stuck with this crap equipment. The only good thing about them is that they're cheap.

Yeah, we aren't all that pleased with them, but it gets the job done. Well...except when they don't. Or when we had ports go bad and need the equipment replaced but the RMA process takes forever.

I believe I posted in here before... but it was an older setup... I've moved to a new rack since then.

Dunno why I can't get a better image.. took it 3 times... laziness mostly...

Ope I spy a Norco 2U rack... how ya like that? I used that 2U Norco for my HTPC at my office, which wasnt fun to put together and we'll be using them for about 25 computers. Good airflow if i recall with fans in the front?

I also spot below that a 4U Case i picked up on newegg as well... time to clean the dust filter, lol

ya i like the 2U cases for small builds because it lets me use an ATX psu. i just wish i knew if the super micro mATX board with dual 771 sockets will fit in it.... since the sm is 10 x 10 not standard.

the biggest annoyance is the harddrive bays. if u use more then 2 they will start floating over the motherboard, not fun.

ya i need to clean that havent run that system in a while lol

Built out my CCIE rack over the past few days. I need another 2500, so I'll grab that tomorrow. Here's a terrible pic:

CCIERack1.jpg

R2 - 3640
R3 - 3640
R4 - 3725
R5 - 1760 (might replace this one)
R6 - 2801
FR Switch - 2621 + NM-8A/S
SW1 - 3560-48
SW2 - 3560-48
SW3 - 3550-48
SW4 - 3550-48
Term Server - 2512 + 2514

Going to grab another 2501 from work for BB3. Need a ton of WIC-1Ts too. I doubt I'll do the cabling until after I move (two weeks).

I finally got around to fixing up my home rack, not to impressive compared to most on this thread but I'm proud of it. Got most of the new items on eBay.

Changes:

  • Added a locking steel door
  • Added wheels on the bottom
  • rack-mounted my switch
  • added shelves and a cool anodized steel drawer
  • I now have wire management (yay!)
  • got rid of the old UPS and now use a SUA1000RM1U (which did not fit in my rack) and is mounted to the wall behind it
  • Added an AP9619 to the new UPS
  • Epoxyed a hardened steel loop 6" into the concrete floor and cable locked my server to it

I don't even know where to start ...

I guess I will start with my VMware Test SAN upgrade. I used NexentaStor for it (free for under 4TB)

Dell PE 2900 III, had 3 x 300GB 15K SAS drives, I added 7 more to total 10.

Before Upgrade:

Needed to add a 1x2 flex bay (to support drives 9 and 10)

How do you find them anyway. Been looking into them for some small clients but cant seem to get anything beyond marketing.
