did anyone ever figure out a way to get widescreen to work? I'm getting sick of looking at strech cars... = (

this is about 18% into the game. i go for pink slips, then sell the old cars. i had that golf but got rid of it, used the money for turbos, tires, and a tranny.

Here are all of my cars...

Yeah I was wondering the same...its ashame they dont have low profile spoilers....all of them are friggin' ugly as hell and HUGE. I just want a lid spoiler on my vette :( I'm suprised a game about modding has such a small ( almost zero ) modding community....where are the car mods people! I want some more cars :( I dont think there were any for UG2 so I doubt well see any now.

I found two different lower profile spoilers, but only for the Mustang GT.

ok i like striping my cars, but i cant figure out how to change both colors. i get the first stripe the color i want, then i cant change the other one. help?

bored-sarcasm read the PM i sent you (Vinyl Colors).

Well here is my car not that wicked looking but it doing alright for the time been.

There's no "dyno" like in UG2...but there's a little "Performance" menu you can get into and fool around in. Nothing real handy there though...doesn't seem to affect much. Not to mention some of the settings in there are sort of vague. For instance, there's a Steering, Handling, and Aerodynamic setting....I figured the steering is for oversteer/understeer....but the Handling? Aerodynamic? ummm...I think in UG2, lowering your aerodynamics increased the handling due to more downforce being generated by the spoiler.

either way...I've changed the settings from one extreme to the next...with little to no improvement.

Actually I find that once you understand how they all work the performance settings can make a huge difference in your success in the game....

Steering:

Raising steering loosens you steering making cornering easier but making the car harder to control when not cornering. I have lowered Steering 2 or 3 notches on all my cars because I find the default has me swerving a lot when I am trying to go straight but even with the lower settings I can make virtually all corners without problems. Only on a REALLY twisty track or when dragging do I raise the slider back to the middle (on drags having it higher helps you change lanes faster).

Handling:

Handling is actually a lot like steering. Raising it helps with cornering but overall makes the car harder to control. I also lower this 2 or 3 notches on all my cars for the same reason. I find it much easier to keep my car pointed the direction it's actually going with the stiffer handling, and less minor swerving equals more top speed on straightaways. Again, I raise it to normal for really curvy tracks.

Brakes:

Raising this moves your break bias to the front of the car and moving it back moves it towards the rear. For the most part you want to raise it if you have a rear while drive car and lower it if you have a front wheel drive car, and leave it alone if you have all wheel drive. These changes will help you maintain control through turns.

Ride Height:

Lowering this lowers you ride height, which improves handling (mostly cornering) on smooth roads, but it can cause problems on rough roads. I usually lower it 1 notch to help a tad with cornering, and make up a bit for my stiffer steering and handling settings. Raising this setting is basically useless.

Aerodynamics.

Raising this increases your top speed but hurts you when cornering. Lowering it lowers you top speed but helps with cornering. I generally leave this alone unless I am doing a course with either a lot of straightaways (raise it 1 or 2 notches) or one with lots of curves (lower it a notch or 2).

Nitrous.

Lowering this gives you longer but lower powered bursts, raising it gives you more powerful but shorter bursts. Obviously, raise it for curvy courses so you can use it while cornering to straighten yourself out quicker and lower it on straighter tracks and drags to maximize your speed on the the straightaways.

Turbo/Supercharger.

Lower this for improved accelerations, raise it for improved top speed. I generally leave it lowered 2 notches and bring it back to neutral or +1 for stuff with lots of straightaways.

So in summary:

Curvy courses = Raise Steering, Handling, and Nitrous. Lower Aerodynamics and Supercharger.
Straight courses = Lower Steering, Handling, and Nitrous. Raise Aerodynamics and Supercharger.
Smooth courses with few shortcuts = Lower Ride Height.
Rough courses, or ones with lots of rougher shortcuts = Raise Ride Height (+1 max though).
Frontwheel drive = Lower Brakes.
Rearwheel drive = Raise Brakes.
Allwheel drive = Neutral Brakes.

Overall I think it's easiest to have a stable of cars and then set the performance settings of each one for a different role and use them as appropriate. Doing so is easier than changing the settings between every event.

Also if you have a course that is half straight and half curvy you can actually change the settings in the middle of the race as the course changes.... Which can be very handy if your having trouble beating a particular race because you keep losing the lead you built on the first half..

That is very useful to know, I just raised and lowered to what I thought would be best, guess I need to fix!

Thanks Arentol

This car is really a Australian Car called The Holden Monaro but Vuaxhall just brought the car off Holden maybe I dont know for sure.

It's the same has for the GTO Pontiac

The Australian Version

I know what a Monaro is...And I know that the "GTO" is the same car. Still, i'd rather have that in my garage than a Pontiac, which is why I bought it over the GTO. Plus, I like the front end better.

Dont get me wrong I wasnt trying to tell you off or anything I was just letting you know but you already know lol.

*Edit*
And the Vuaxhall does look better and the same has the Aussie Version.

Only thing that kind of sucks is when you grab the pink slip to an blacklist racers car, I have to spend like 10 grand just to de-rice the damn thing. I pull the hideous body kits of most of the cars. The Supra was one of the worst looking cars until I got done with it.

www.widescreengamingforum.com has a program called "UNIWS" that will allow you to patch non-widescreen games and add a custom res.
Unfortunately, it only works on cracked .exe files. So, search the web for a crack (last I heard there wasn't a crack yet for this game unfortunately). Check out No Talk of CD Patches Please - Rich Tate for the latest news reguarding no-CD cracks(assuming you legally own the game, of course).:)
Hopefully a crack will be released soon that will work with uniws
I got the patched demo to work on my TV @ 1280x720, and it looks good. Unfortunately it cuts out a bit of your FOV.
Damn you EA for ignoring widescreen. *crosses fingers hoping EA gets their heads out of their backsides*

Pssst.... ahem, #4 ?
lol ..okay .. if I need to read #4 again , then you would also qualify
:p

..back on topic (kinda)
I wonder if I can get thru the whole game with just the Colbalt. I am at #13 on the blacklist and have a $200,000 bounty on my head. The only thing that is becoming a slight problem thus far is the total speed runs where you tally up your speed read from the radar dectecting points

..and the car seems really lite for busting thru road blocks
I would post a pic of my all stock blue Cobalt if I was at home
:(

I AM WATCHING J00Z! ;)

I don't see anything here that merits any locking. (after a little ninja that is) :)

I think everyone here knows where find those type of things.

I'm on BL #5 with my Cobalt. Got like 4 unique parts on it...turns on a dime.

Only EA can make the FWD Colbat a supercar

Yep. Even in stock form it peels out and shakes back and fourth at a stop light when you rev it. :D

Yeah...and my stock Lexus IS300 was a friggin' rocket and handled it it was on rails lol The game gets much more fun when you have the good cars though.

And why would they put that POS Colbat in the game when they have the Evo and STi?! They couldve been more creative.

I'd like to post pics of my cars, 'cept I've only got the Xbox 360 version. I suppose I could snap a few with my digital camera...

Thanks for the warning. I read the rules specifically before I posted, and I thought the no-cd-crack rule referred to illegal activity. Cracking my own copy of a game to play on my system is 100% legal. I'm confused about the purpose of this rule.

It matters not, though, in this case. I learned EA put some nazi anti-copy software on this game that makes it un-crackable, at least at this point. So it seems the only way to see widescreen resolutions in the retail version is a homebrew mod or an official patch. *shakes fist angrily at EA*

PS--Rich--I've learned not to assume anything when it comes to forums, and I highly doubt everyone reading this knows where to find a no-cd-patch, even though google would lead them straight to the answer. You should know, judging by the ultra noobish questions flying around the net.

No actually, it isn't. Modifying software purchased or not, violates most license agreements. It's all in the EULA.

what if you had your fingers crossed when you clicked on "Yes I Agree" ...?

Technically this is correct. We do have a very nice reference link in the gaming rules that has excellent resources to legally backing up your games.

I do usually allow discussion about legal backups, but when the thread goes into a downward spiral, then I usually take some action. You guys caught me in a good mood today. ;)

Now get back on topic!! :p

If you had your finger crossed EA would know it and infect your computer with PORN POP UPs! :D
