we lost our world... Processor caused a Triple hardfault... spawning new world... the first week or so he officially dubbed [H]ardBeta Don't start anything epic.

I realize now that maybe I'm not giving up on playing SMP afterall...
 
I'm confused so did we lose the old hardcraft one or the new one you mAde yesterday? And would you mind adding the thing that makes days 4 times as long as nights? ESP without warps as the time it takes for me to find resource spot its already night time...
 
I'll see what I can do about the day time, since travel will obviously take longer now.

We lost the new map, of course it was only a day old but still, I had my house and stuff... poopy

until I get all this straight and problem free as far as hardware goes... the original Hardcraft is staying offline... that thing has way too much on it to lose.


Especially the last available Hashmang creation. It's the only thing left of his that we'll be able to keep with us.


I still need more people on at once if possible, I need to find out if this is actually going to work or not, I need to see how well this runs on this server.

Damn I really hope this world stays, this ones awesome, I have a sweet spot and nice mine shaft, and thanks a lot for the server!!
 
Now I can't wait to get in there. And I won't be able to until late tonight too :(
 
Yea as i said later, can we expect this world to stay? i got a really nice set up going and dont wanna lose it :(
 
For some reason my laptop really doesn't like this world; I can barely play in it, major lag. :(

(not server lag, my frame rate plummets.)

My theory is that the performance of a level is determined by the SURFACE AREA of the world. When there are more caves, as there are in this world, the chunks are more complicated and take longer to load. Does it get better over time?

I don't think so. I have played in massive serves on my laptop and there is no lag whatsoever.

That runs a 2.53Ghz penryn core 2 duo and 2GB of DDR2 667.

My laptop is the opposite - the more placed blocks, especially ones with light sources, and the slower my laptop goes.

For some reason my laptop is almost continually slow in this world. The SSP world I started after Hash passed has no problem, and I only had the occasional slow down in Hashland. But Hardcraft is a no go for me.

Looks like I won't be able to join in on the memorial build :( At least until I build a new computer; which is a month or more away... :(

Oh well.

With this server mod, you can host multiple worlds from one server simultaneously:
http://bukkit.org/

Players can just type in a command to move freely between worlds bringing all their gear with them. They can also chat between worlds since it's the same server.

I was looking at that yesterday. Have you used it on your server? Does a plugin exist to assign portals to different worlds instead of having to type in a console command? Just to make it easier on people that wouldn't be too comfortable with that kind of thing.

I'd also like the ability to turn off creepers too. I like the sense of danger when you venture into a cave to explore but I cannot stand creepers blowing up the structure that you spent that past 3 days building. Hopefully these things will eventually be added to the default vanilla server

I'll keep trying. I noticed when I don't move too much at all i'm okay. The second I start exploring even a little bit I get hit by lag big time.

The price I pay for having a shitty PC :(

There are a few mods out that do that. :cool:

Yeah, there are a few things that I wish he would add to default configurable options in his MC server by default. Creeper terrain damage, falling damage, day/night length, etc; have a big list of flags in the same style as old FPS servers for games like quake and unreal. :p
 
Well seems like dynamic is super helpful and would of been nice to cat with him sooner. Threw some knowledge around, bounced some ideas. Verdict is: bad processor.

I have a few options so hopefully I can get something stable setup
