Minecraft

Yeah, my collecting area is about 28 blocks away from the first spawn floor. The area is a 24 block bubble that won't spawn creatures from the player. I have a ladder system going all the way to the top of the tower, and when the harvester isn't working, I don't hear anything in there. I crack open a hole or two, and nothing has spawned. Its intermittent.

As for my plans for a 144x144 harvester, uh, going to hold off on that. I didn't do the math on blocks needed to mine out....about 165,000 blocks just for the spawn floor and collecting area...unless its a group project. =)

So I tried this out today and you are right, mob factories are broken somehow. I wonder whether Notch did that to improve server side performance. Fewer calculations for mobs = presumably less lag.

On the one side I am ok with that since the mob factories were really not intended, on the other hand it makes me a sad panda since that was something practical I could build.

Do what Arr4ws and I did:
Find a dungeon spawner, and use the water into lava ledge trick.

Tired of minecrafts never ending bugs. After losing 2-3 hours of work due to crashes and chunks reverting I gave up on it. Maybe one day it will be stable.

Yea, my friend just messaged me and told me a section of our main house area on our server just randomly got covered with with a 8 layer high square of rock and dirt complete with a single tree on the top....

Arena, WiP.
Repairs almost done:

Seems like Hashland server is over. Hashmang (named Ojax here) has been missing for some days. He didnt log in a while and hes usually on everyday.

Well , on the private forum of hashland , the only in real life friends that was playing with us on Hashland (Ziggbie) came by and told us Hash passed away on february 9. No one could ( i still cant) believe it. We asked for more details and told us he had type 1 diabete , and had a low sugar thing and no one was around.

Still.. we cant believe it , ive been looking all around the net for some kind of information. Since i knew where he live and his first name.

No one cant connect to the server for now.. so until we get more information , or if the server come back up... well be fixed.

This post isnt a trolling attempt by any mean.

Thank you for the post arr4ws. I've been waiting for more info before posting the news here. Maybe I'll make a post about it later today in genmay. :(

This is really upsetting. I can't believe it.

I think it is relevant here since a whole bunch of folks were on hashland and may not have access to genmay.

Man that's crazy, Hash was a really nice guy and if it's true he passed away that is very sad. Hopefully we can get some more concrete information.

our sherlock holmes team found him on facebook... no one posted nothing on his wall. so...

nothing new... just want to keep everyone informed as best as we could. Invert tried to call him twice. We checked all obituaries possible and nothing.

i think im done with SMP for now. I lost my first work on Hardcraft... no my second work on Hashland... and now a third world on hashland again....

i think ill go back to finish my basement...

If only we could know what happened to Hashmang.... im fuckin worried

Check forums on hashland :(

Think he just got tired of running the server?

Anyway, next time we do this we should probably have the host upload the backups online. Then if anything happens someone else can take over. Minecraft servers seem pretty unstable and this could help fix that problem.

[Edit:] Just saw the other posts on the hashland forum. That really really blows. Not only did he a do a good job as a server admin, he really seemed to care about making sure we all had fun. I'm not sure if I could do something like that for an online game for a group of strangers. I was impressed and I'm sad about this.

Hashmang (Ojax) really passed away. So for me Hashland is done. I dont want to play there anymore.

I can bring hardcraft back sooner then originally planned if you'd like, or start a fresh world if ya'll want.

arr4ws if you'd like I can give you full access to it also so you can change things as you please or restart it as needed to keep things running smoothly.

Just throwing things out there, I feel horrible about everything going on, first time I've lost someone that I've played games with on such a regular basis.

Yea, this is just nuts. I pretty much hung out with the guy on a daily basis up until his recent vacation to Florida. And talk about a dedicated server admin.

[H] has lost a solid individual and good guy. The loss of the work I put into the server is the best send off I can give the guy, at this point. I hope he takes it with him, and enjoys it.

RIP hash.

Id definetly be on there to play a lot, thinking of a cool way to memorialize hash.

i never runned a server... I would love people to be able to play all together again and build a memorial to Hash. Maybe we can talk about it on steam or whatever IM service you use.

I'm giving up on SMP all together. Though I would happily help build a memorial to Hash.

Why are you giving up on it? Sure this was a huge bummer, but the advantages of multi player servers including being able to play on multiple computers (a huge plus for me) definetly makes me prefer it than single player. However, about the hash thing, I thought itd be cool if we make a gigantic tree in his memory, like in the middle of the water with huge trunk/roots sticking out of water, anyways hopefully another hardforum server could get started, and possibly we could be able to contact hash's server company and ask them for the map info? is that possible? then we could all continue on our projects

i think a huge tree would be really cool.

something like the big fucking soul tree from avatar.

:-/

I only play on one PC ever, so being able to play from anywhere isn't a big concern. Hashland had such a good group of people, I'll always compare any server I move to, to them. It's also the realization that in a few months time I won't be able to visit the world I've (helped) create if I want to. I don't think servers last very long with MC; at least from what I can tell. So that means every few months I'll have to start over.

My budget is fairly limited, so I usually play a game for a very long time. I also like to revisit old games after a long absence.

I like that idea; maybe thats what I'll make in my SSP world for him too.

I doubt the server host will provide those files. They would be considered confidential. Even if he is gone, they would probably take the skeptical route and not believe it (even with proof). And even with proof, they would probably err on the side of caution and not release the files.

RIP hash... you brightened up everything with your effervescence and dedication.

For the memorial, I was imagining a giant statue of hash's avatar surrounded by a huge field of flowers. I'm sure we can find some way to combine all our ideas.

I think the server provider was Allgamer. If it is, the contact details are in this thread (Scott_Allgamer; signature): http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=119909&sid=af97e8718862766c6da82529c9c63a99 (MCHash is hash, of course)

Ok guys, so what are you going to want. The return of the original Hardcraft Server? (I still have the world saved) or start a fresh new Hardcraft Server? I've got the host up, just setting up the virtualization and stuff now, if I get the answers and a final choice we can get working on that Hash Memorial before the day is over.

While I'd love to see the original Hardcraft again for memory's sake, we have quite a few people who weren't around for it, and a good portion of those who built on it aren't active anymore or seemingly disappeared. I get the feeling that it might be best to start a new world.
