Minecraft

Alright lol, second try - here's what I'm working with. Think Nick knows what I'm talkin about but basically yeah the water level drops and I can't make a level pool

This is the principal that is defeating you:

2. Water blocks can be in two states. The static "spring" block that water originates from, or the moving "flow" block, which are generated by spring blocks. Flow blocks can turn into spring blocks, but only if they have stable spring blocks on two sides.

If you make a grid pattern like was described by some posts above, fill it with water from buckets, and break the grid in such a way that each "Dry space" is flanked by at least two stable spring blocks when you break it, then water will flow into that space and stabilize into a spring.

You can generate an infinite quantity of stable water spring blocks from two buckets of water. All you have to do is dig the following pattern 2wide x 2wide x1deep (viewing from above):
[X][w]
[w][X]

Dig out the W's (Leave the X's filled in with dirt for now) and pour your water buckets into the W spots. Then just simply dig out the X's afterwards. The water will rush into the X spots, stabilize, and become more water spring blocks so you end up with:
[w][w]
[w][w]

If you fill your bucket with any of the W's at this point, it will replace itself infinitely because each water block is flanked on two sides by other water blocks.

As long you use the right method as you dig, you can use this behavior to fill anything with stable water. If you mess up, you can just use your infinite "water generator" to bucket it in by hand.

Sick house is SICK!!!! Good job there man... gives me ideas.

Totally makes sense, I'll do that. Awesome house btw

awesome house.

house kicks ass dude, I'd like a higher res picture if possible

nice. maybe a night shot?

Is this in single player or multi?

Glad you all like it. :D

I'm at work now but I'll post some more pics this evening.

Right now I'm playing single player on the peaceful setting. I enjoy building and exploring more than fighting for my life at the moment. :)

i just got squished, tried digging with my shovel and then suddenly popped out in some water. Then I died from getting shot, how do i find my body and stuff?

You don't leave a carcass, just a pile of items that pop out of you when you die. The items only last five minutes before disappearing unless that was recently changed.

Check out some of the warps: kgbtrain and snow rail 1 seem to have rail systems going.

Ya kgbtrain is what we have so far. So far I have a cart retrieval system. Launch system and a cart recycle system.

Haven't had any issues with loading terrain except for one time, I didn't disconnect I just had to/ home it or tp to someone

Here's those pics I promised. I got a little carried away, heh.

As you can see I still have to finish the interior. I have most of the second floor in place but I still have to make up my mind on the design. I want to add a large fireplace somewhere.

The exterior is mostly finished, I might have to tweak a couple of things. And there's still a lot of landscaping to do around the house. I'll have to chop down my tree farm when I'm finished with it and replant some trees in the areas I want. I've gone through so much wood and so many axes I lost count.

If you have any questions or want higher res shots of any other pic, or screen shots of something specific let me know.

I can foresee terrible things happening if you add a fireplace.

I think I should be ok. The floors are all smooth stone and as long as I keep any wood a couple blocks away from any fire it should work.

back up your files, set it on fire, make video, then restore...

lol, I might have to try that. I backup my save everyday so restoring it won't be a problem.

I've been lucky so far in keeping fire away from it. My tree farm is on the one side and back of the house. To get rid of the leaves I just whip out my flint and set them on fire, after making sure none of them are within three blocks of my house. A couple of burning sheep have made a beeline for my house after getting set on fire but I managed to get to them before they got revenge on me.

I would love to have Notch add redstone/glowstone floodlights so we could light up our houses without putting torches everywhere. I imagine them working such that anything in line-of-sight/radius/cone of the floodlight is treated as "in sunlight".

After having started it about 20 days ago, the superarch is (almost, sort of) complete. The exterior is now complete, save for a roof (that'll be another 4000 blocks...)

Big thanks to my patrons for their gracious donations of cobblestone :D

That would be nice. Maybe when he adds the lanterns they'll give off more light than torches do.

Wow, nice work.

Since everyone is doing it, I should try to get a few screens of what me and a friend have been working on in our MP server since MP came out. We slowed down recently though... I don't think either of us has even played since the minecart patch. :(

Good news from Notch:
"The few hours I’ve been able to work today, I tried getting SMP Health as complete as possible. It will be released early next week.

Here’s the status:

* Send attack network data: DONE
* Add the ability to attack other entities: DONE
* Implement falling damage: NOT STARTED
* Implement respawning for dead players: PARTIALLY DONE (there are bugs with the player keeping the current location in some circumstances instead )
* Make eating food regenerate health: DONE
* Send health updates to the players: DONE

The “attack entities” code is done on a general level, so you can hurt animals, monsters, boats, carts and even other players.

There are a couple of other tweaks in the next update as well:

* Fix leaves. Again: DONE
* Optimize the lighting update slowdowns: STARTED
* Make players riding carts or boats a long way receive terrain updates: DONE
* Fix the block re-spawning bug: NOT STARTED
* Add “pvp” toggle flag to the server settings: NOT STARTED."

I don't care too much about pvp and health. If he can get monsters working just as well in SMP as single player than that might make me start back playing again. I just had expected hell to work in SMP. I play with my fiance, so took a pause after portals stopped working so we didn't get burned out.

Just got all excited to explore hell. Kind of takes some of the fun out of it when you have to go at it alone. Ehh, it will come eventually.

Damn, you guys are awesome. I just build small citadels on top of steep ridges and process my treasures.

Looks like the HD texture fixer has resolved the portal/watch/compass issues.
