Minecraft

Looks like server is moved over to my server.

Hardcraft.dyndns.org also is setup, could take up to 48 hours to work tho



I'd like to see what all the server can handle, so I'm going to have to ask that everyone get on and play
 
I'm on right now, but how far is the no build zone? I've gone a LONG way and still can't do anything.
 
Welp

Laptop overheated and shut down yesterday while playing Minecraft and World 2 is truly gone. Luckily I started taking backups.

I'd like to get on the MP server if possible. Username eggrock.
 
So I just decided to buy minecraft and it won't run.
I've reinstalled Java, deleted the .minecraft folder in appdata, and it still doesnt work. It will start, let me log in, download the packages, and then crash. It crashes in browser, on the desktop, doing classic single or multiplayer, or alpha.

It leaves behind this log:

What are the chances of getting my money back?

Have you tried emailing Notch the info? Or reaching out to him on twitter?
 
I have Java 6 Update 2, and Java 6 Update 19 installed on my computer..make sure you have those.
 
I just downloaded Java 6 Update 22 (latest available from Java).

Where is his contact information? Edit: Found email information using leet google-fu.

Install newer AMD drivers... unless you no longer have an AMD card (as it says in your sig), in which case uninstall anything relatnig to AMD GPUs.

This is on my laptop. Core 2 Duo, 3gb ram, Radeon HD2300, Windows 7 x64. Other java games work, and I've played the free Minecraft classic on this laptop from the browser before (a few weeks ago). The AMD drivers are the ones that came from Windows Update, since Gateway hasn't released 64-bit drivers and I haven't had any luck downloading the drivers straight from AMD.
 
the server client seems outdated. need to update it with the new server file i guess
 
This damn game is like crack! What is multiplayer? Do people connect to me or are there actual servers?
 
Downloaded a new update through the Minecraft client about 10 minutes ago.. I was on a multiplayer server and it booted me, updated, and now can't connect to anything.. :p

Both. You can download server software and even server mods to run your own server.. Also, search Google for Minecraft Alpha Servers, and there are some links to lots of dedicated servers to explore and even build on if you get permission, but lots are free to mine and build for everyone. :)
 
As already mentioned, the patch is out:
"A whole pile of bug fixes in this one. There’s still a lot more to do, coming over the next couple of weeks or so.

General fixes:
* players and mobs in lava or fire no longer spam sound effects
* getting hit with a higher damage while recovering from a smaller one now works as intended
* lava flows further in the Nether
* zombie pigs eventually forgives
* added support for custom skin packs
* fixed duplicate buttons when resizing screens
* zombie pigs and ghasts no longer get hurt by fire or lava
* fixed volume sliders now saving properly

Multiplayer fixes:
* hellworld=true no longer overwrites old save chunks. Player positions will still break if you switch it on a running server, though
* boats are now visible to other players
* minecarts move nicer
* fishing kinda sorta works, but needs more work
* sheep and cows look like sheep and cows now
* buckets work now
* fixed stairs being really difficult to destroy
* increased the timeout before “Took too long to log in”
* made it possible to ride carts and boats
* added (after lots of work) the ability to steer server-side boats
* added “no-animals” setting. if true, animals will immediately vanish
* added support for more animation settings. Currently it’s just the “riding” animation, but the same system will be used for sneaking

To make a texture pack, make a zip file that contains the files you wish to replace, then place that zip file in the texture pack folder. There’s a handy button ingame to open that folder immediately.

If you place a “pack.png” file in the root of the zip file, it’ll show up as a preview icon. Please make sure it’s square, and of an even 2^x size. For example, 128x128 pixels.
If you place a “pack.txt” file in the root of the zip file, the first two lines will show up as a description for the texture pack."
 
I'm not sure what happend, for some reason my internet shut down and I got a new IP, I've had the same IP for 2 years now... it just changed

My client tries to connect but times out, saying took to long to login. Maybe try to update the server? To update just log out and log back in (I think).
 
Yea, says outdated client to me. Weird. That does not seem possible
EDIT: now saying Minecraft.net is down. wtf, lol.

it's because Sulseeker uses Hey0's Server Mod, from google I find that anyone using that is having update issues, the server it's self updates but you have to wait to update hey0's stuff... something like that.


I just host the server and plan on learning as we go, sul knows more about that actual function of the software.




from reading, people without hey0's mod that got the update and are playing... complain of severe lag in game because of the minecarts I think

no, hey0's mod is what's breaking it, they haven't updated their side yet, so until they do nothing I can do
 
Until Hey0 gets the mod updated (Tried coping the new Minecraft_Server.jar over it and it failed...) I rolled us a new world. Same connect until Hey0 gets his stuff updated.

Just know anything you build is subject to change... In the mean time tho... have fun!

My roomate, who absolutly REFUSES to play computer games because of the control setup (he's a console guy), is hooked on it too. I sent him a link to it one day while I was at work and when I got home, he was 8+ hours into a single player game.

Hell, he hasn't really even touched his PS3 since discovering minecraft (a month or so ago) and he used to play on it daily. He pre-ordered the new COD:BO game and took off of work yesterday to play it but instead spent a majority of his time working on some of the buildings in our LAN minecraft server hahaha

Anyone have some tech specs for a Minecraft server? I'm looking at standing up a P4 3.0ghz w/2gb of ddr and 80gb of SATA disk with XP SP3 in the closet, it'll be serving one world, SimpleServer and possibly Hey0, maximum population of ten peoples.

I don't have any idea how well this would work. Minecraftforums.net is completely {S}oft, so it is of no use whatsoever.
