Mass Effect Legendary Edition

Mass Effect is one of my favourite series, and so I am a few hours into replaying ME1 in the Legendary Edition. Definitely feelings of nostalgia when you get to the Citadel for the first time. Game definitely shows its age in terms of UI, explorable areas and some of the writing, but it is also better than the later games in some of the character development.
 
And the mystery. There was so much possibility in the first game it's sad how much got left behind. I'll admit the gameplay got better every release but I wish the story had more unknown and exploration.
 
I've finished downloading for EA Play. I'm planning to finish all 3 within the next weeks. Never play any of them but heard pretty god comments about it.
 
Very worth it in general, if you are not playing on the harder difficulty try to play it without looking anything up- cold is the way to play!

That's my mindset. I have no joy playing on the hardest difficulty because the main reason is enjoying the history. I'll that hard shooting for competitive csgo and warzone lol

I'd recommend starting with one of the higher difficulties. Veteran is probably good for a newbie. I say this because if you play on Normal you may just end up shooting everything and not get into using your powers and covering your weaknesses with your squad.

I will need to learn the gameplay and I wasn't aware to like powers and stuff. I'm used to uncharted, the last of us and tomb radiers LOL

Good news is you can change difficulty in your current game, so if you find the game too easy on normal you can turn it up later.

Lowest price on Steam was $4.79. Though $1.20 isn't a big difference, so if you're looking for some great games to play it is hard to pass up. I'm actually amazed it went down to less than $2 each per game, seems like it is one of EA's best selling titles in recent years. :ROFLMAO:
 
didn't they give this away on the Epic Store or Amazon Prime Gaming a few months back?...I think I got it for free

Sure but $6 is still awesome for steam users. Here is the recommended specs. The GTX 1070 is like a GTX 1660 Super so another great title for poors like me running 3050 6GB.

Got it on release. The major update is for mass effect 1 as it has been brought up to much more modern standards. There are some improvements to ME 2, but not that much to ME 3. Still one of my favorite game series and ME2 is still in my personal top 10 games of all time.

$6 is a no brainer.

Did a single playthrough last year that took ~300 hours to get everything and do everything. I also did this on a GTX 1080.

As others have hinted, the first game got a major overhaul graphically. The second and third games are relatively untouched. That said, the latter games still hold up well.

I think revisiting the third game surprised me. I went in expecting the second game to be as glorious as I remember only to find out I liked the third one best. I guess my memory of these games was faulty.

And after I beat the trilogy, I did a playthrough of Andromeda. Also had way too much fun with that one.

I think I've concluded that it really is the journey and not the destination. Because don't get me started on the story.

I just finished another play through of all four ME a few weeks ago as well. It's funny how every time I do another play through I pick up on dialogue or story line stuff that I either missed or don't remember from earlier play throughs.

Gameplay of 3 is the best of the trilogy ( I think Andromeda 's added verticality improved upon it). It only gets maligned because of the ending, but it's a blast to play through despite that. I'm just disappointed they didn't bring back the multiplayer.

Sadly after going through some of those games about 30 times that doesn't happen to me anymore.
 
I should mention that the mods in the classic trilogy, many updated for the LE are really what makes a fantastic experience even better. They can do things like completely return (and enhance) the Pinnacle Station DLC which was cut from LE1 because the original code was apparently lost for it. Likewise, ME3 is known for for tons of great mods. Audemus' Happy Ending Mod is the latest version of the MEHEM/JEM style ending which replaces the need to make the choice and instead puts together a different ending based around other parameters. The biggest of all is the Expanded Galaxy Mod which is absolutely massive and overhauls so many things, links other stories in all 3 games together, and sets up for sub-mods like the Spectre Mod as well as the Miranda mod which brings her to the ship as a full companion and romance option. I believe there' also a similar mod for Jack, and one that changes Thane's story too. Just looking back over this I found one that revampled Kai Leng, the Cerberus Assassin and instead had a new custom scenario where the Assassin is either Jacob or Miranda , with new stories, boss battles, and choices that affect the outcome.

I've always appreciated how Mass Effect got a similar level of modding depth similar to Elder Scrolls or Fallout titles, and its disappointing to me that some newer games especially Cyberpunk2077 don't have the same degree of story and custom content mods. Still very glad that the Legendary Edition is moving forward!
