Mass Effect 3 Discussion Thread

I believe the timed quests are:

Looks like:

1) Grissom Academy
2) Bomb on Tuchanka
3) The Monastery
4) The Ex-Cerberus Scientists

If that's wrong or if there are others, sound off.

None that I know of, but those in question have fairly long timers. I didn't do them all that quickly.

Was wondering the same thing. I'm 9 hours in, and there doesn't seem to be any end in sight.

I'm sure you'll find these things out at some point in the future provided you pay $10.

I'd be disappointed if it took anything less than 35 hours to complete.

The fastest I have ever completed Mass Effect 2 is 43 hours and 22 minutes. (Hardcore difficulty) This is with no dialog skipping (though I do skip some of the landing cut scenes after I've seen them a couple times) and having been through the game 8 times. I should also mention that I did no more than 2 hours of planet scanning to get everything I needed. I think I have about 49 hours in on ME1. These numbers include all DLC's for both games being played and completed. You can actually burn through all the games much, much faster than that, but not if you do everything.

This one is probably a 40+ hour game easily.

He does. A different actror voices him in this game.

Well that sucks.

Hell, I thought Wrex sounded different in the demo.

Also, where is the CE soundtrack downloaded to?

Edit: nvm, it was hidden.

I bought the game through GameStop and got the bonus N7 Defender Armor and a few bonus rifles...not really a big deal but it does look cool and it's good to have since it was included at no charge

to get it over 50% you have to play multiplayer i believe. I played a match and it went to 55%

Is it possible then to finish the game without touching the MP? I do not like and do not want to play MP matches in order to finish game and see all possible endings.

That's good to hear. I would have been surprised if they released a game much shorter than the other two.

Hey Dan, is there background music at places like the Citadel this time?

You don't 'need' to play MP but it is pretty fun. I tried some last night. I had either 1 of 2 groups - either 1 group that stayed together and we beat it or a group that would absolutely run off everywhere and we would last around 3 rounds before failing.

26 hours to beat it with a ~7000 readiness score. Tried to complete as much as possible and imported my 'save everyone' ME1/ME2 save.

Wow I'm at a little over 23 hours and I think I'm about half way through.

Yes. In fact the Citadel has an updated version of the music from the first Mass Effect game on pretty much all the time.

He obviously didn't do all the side quests. At about 20 hours you can be through 75% of the main story line, but you can't do all the side quests in that amount of time. I guess I just do not get rushing through a game like this.

about 20 hours but I did miss a few things.

You missed a lot. After 20 hours I still had a ton of missions to do.

I don't think they're timed exactly. I think you just need to do them before you do a certain priority quest. If you advance the story too much then you lose out on it. Basically what I've been doing is finishing all side quests (if it's possible to finish them at the point of the story I'm at) before doing the next priority mission. Since the priority mission are the main story I assumed there's no rush in doing those.

That's the way I'm doing it.

Same here. I plan on doing every quest possible & getting 100% assets from every system cluster before I complete the game.

Same here.

I always play these games very leisurely and thoroughly.

Question:
Early in the game you get this sidequest on the Citadel to go here: http://www.ign.com/wikis/mass-effect-3/Shrike_Abyssal:_Prothean_Obelisk

I see it in my journal and it's all good but I don't have it accessible on my star map. Do I have to do something else first?

Some of the side quests can be picked up at the Citadel, but you not access the systems until you have progressed the story a step or two.

I'm a completionist as well...took me 44 hours to finish ME1 (including scanning all the systems/planets using the Mako)...68 hours to finish ME2, scanned all the planets to 100%...so the people that are finishing ME3 in under 25 hours probably means my playthrough will probably be double that

I was a bit worried in the early stages in that I wasn't getting that many side missions even though I went around talking to everybody in every location I visited...but I just completed the mission to find the Primarch and now a whole bunch of new side quests popped up in my e-mail

I wish ME3 would list the side missions in a separate Tab in the Journal the way that ME2 did...it's better organized that way

Good. That's what I was hoping for. No glitches or anything. :)

FXAA Injector from Skyrim works nicely with this btw. That plus the WSGF toggle fix really make things nice. :)

Yes, you need to meet with the diplomats in order to open up the map a little more. Then travel to the Shrike Abyssal and scan Talis Fia.

Here is what you do.

26hrs nearly 100%... I'm missing like, 2 star systems total.

do you talk with all your Squad mates after each mission?...that alone takes a chunk of time as they have long stories to tell

Does it seem like Paragon/Renegade is irrelevant in ME3 to anyone else? The few options I've had for a blue/red dialogue option, it's given me both. The "quick click" paragon/renegade actions as well have been fairly weak for the most part. Despite that complaint, I'm loving the game so far. Going to be disappointing as hell to have the series over with, no matter how good the ending is.

Pretty accurate.

That happened all the time in the demo. I've yet to play the MP in the full game, but the demo MP always had assholes who wanted to camp outside the bubble to rack up easy kills.

We should get a [H] group going, so maybe then there'll be less riff raff.

I got about 5 hours through last night and finally started to notice the bad textures. Not a game breaker and I wont lower my score of the game, but certainly annoying with the huge number of cut scenes that's packed into this game. Otherwise, story and gameplay are great so far.

I also can't figure out how to interact with my robotic dog.

The dog is pretty stupid as an "extra" for the N7 Collenctor's Edition. Near as I can tell it doesn't do anything beyond wandering the cargo bay and "sleeping" on the floor of the bay. About all you can do is get right in front of it and once you do it will stop. At that point you can click on it. Though all Shepard does is say; "Hey there" or "good dog." It may be like the varren Urz in Mass Effect 2. You may have to give it something or do something for it which makes it follow you or behave in a more interesting fashion. But if that's the case I've yet to figure out what it is.

The dog turns into a giant space mecha-dogzilla to fight the reapers. Not really though. But yeah, lame addition.

Most of em. Actually, I don't think I missed any. Definitely got all the squad mate side stories done.
