Yeah, I suppose the argument of the 9800 pro is faster in older games, and the 6600GT in newer games doesn't count anymore, since you're starting to have to go back fairly far for the 9800pro to win.

I still play Morrowind too much, I guess :D

be sure to see if you can get that to at least 160-180 fsb... that shoudl be about the limit.. but.. for a sub $45 cpu.. you can't hate in the least if i hits that..

what mobo and hsf do you have on that applebred?

im a real man, i still use a thunderbird 1.4, still runs like a champ and runs new games fairly well, its never failed me. i think im gonna keep it forever in a shrine. count me in the club if you'd like
 
I have 2 Bartons, a 2500+ & 2800+, running F@H around the clock. The 2500 is also a file server. They've never failed me and still run the new games quite well. They'll have to pry Socket A from my cold dead motherboard. :D
 
I am a current sA user, but I am upgrading to s939 soon. :(
 
I've got a Socket A motherboard and nothing to put in it. Some ECS pos with a VIA chipset.

See, I could make it fold, but then I'd need to find room for it, and give it RAM, a HD, a CPU, and so on and so forth. I could make it a file server, but why not just put more hard drives in my current machine?

I went straight from a Gateway 866 MHz PIII to the system in my sig. Sorry guys :(

Im in! My barton 2500 box which im still using was my first comp I bought myself. I know Im a youngin if it makes you feel better I also have my familys first computer setup right next to me for lan starcraft, PII 200mhz!!!

You have to remember what kind of memory (GT has DDR3 vs Radeon DDR) and the speeds (GT runs at 500/1000Mhz, 9800 i think is 380/680, or something like that??), not to mention the better tech in the GT.
 
I have the decision to make of keeping

DFI LANPARTY NFII UltraB with Barton 2500

or

ABIT IC7 Max3 with P4c @ 3.4

The TRAGEDY is that I never OCed that DFI and 2500 combo and now I will be giving it the boot because I think it will perform better in my proposed HTPC setup.
 
Still got a Socket A T-bird 950 running at 1.13
I could get more with some good ram, and a mobo with more options. ;)

Wish my mobile was running that cool. I can run at 2.5ghz but the temp at load gets around 60c, sometimes higher. I'm running it at 2.3ghz right now but it still gets of\ver 50c. I don't like my gigabyte hsf. I'll get the temps to drop though when I get my watercooling set up.
 
w00t Socket A. I have a Spitfire (I think) Duron 700MHz and an Applebred Duron 1.8GHz. Spitfire is currently doing nothing in particular, just kinda hanging out next to my CD rack. And the Applebred is going to be in a file server/BFV server. As soon as I can find a place to put the server. :eek:

I'm running the Thermaltake xaser III with 7fans in it.
 
i have an a7n8x deluxe and unlocked XP 3000+ (desktop version) that im considering going back to from my 939 rig.... so im in :)

i love my XP rig

All save linda and ichigo clock in at 200 FSB. I'm sure the procs could do more. I have them sandbagging in order to keep them stable over time without worrying about them blowing up while folding. These will eventually be replaced by S939 procs, due to their lower power requirements.

I've got a thermaltake also. Damier series and has 5 case fans.
 
yay, a socket A club! Its almost my 2500 barton's 2 year old birthday :cool:. thats a regular unlocked barton for all of you whimps who had to get the mobile version to get a OC worth a damn :D

I'm right there with you tiny, but the good news is that I am selling my board and CPU+heatsink to a friend for a budget PC to play CS:S

Getting an Abit av8 from a friend for cheap then either a 3000+ or 3200+ off the Egg in a week or so.

Damn I will really miss this huge piece of copper in my case :( , and I really did want to get to 2.4 ghz :( the unlocked week33 barton just wouldn't do it :(
 
Yeah I had an unlocked barton 2500 but it would only do about 2350...my moblie 2600 does 2700
 
Well, I'll only be sA for about 2 more weeks. :( I am moving on too. You can see in my sig that I have bought a 3000+/7800GTX setup. Gonna watercool it too.

Can you run the 35W XP-mobiles at more than 1.8v on air cooling? I can't get more than 2.2ghz (200x11) stable on my 2200+ 35w xp-m.

ive put 1.9 into my XP on air before, it was kinda hot but nothing i was worried about.
 
The only good socket As were the mobiles. AMDs later naming scheme was a bit fraudulent as well. The 3200XP couldn't even perform as well as a P4 2.8 northwood. I guess they were a great bang for buck though. ;)
