Love your socket 754?

I can't entirely blame you....X2 has almost got me to jump the fence (the more I think about it, the more my e-Penis grows a bit rofls) because I remember wanting multi-processor for the longest time...and a 4400+ system would be so rocking...but I'm waiting to see what videocards come out before I worry about upgrading.

P.S. You're a traitor since you diddn't even keep your 754 stuff, so I'm totally stealing your spot as VP. Noob. :D

Ok, you can have my spot! You deserve it anyway.

Yeah, so I have this on order now:

4200+ Manchester (God i love the core name)
DFI SLI-DR
2x1024 Ballistix

All I need now is an affordable 7800GTX solution. I will be watching for that like a hawk tomorrow.

Good luck finding that 7800GTX sub $600 at a well known website, Newegg had some, but I just saw that they pulled those down.

I'd love to personally go to an X2, but even the 4200+ is way to much for my bank account. If they release lower versions then I'll probably jump on it. I do a fair bit of multi tasking and have several things open while gaming so it'll be gold for me, but right now even the 4200 is just to much.

My bank is being a gigantic pain in the ass thanks to identity theft. :(
So much security that I can't even spend my own money.

You jumped ship for teh X2!!! Traitor!
j/k ;) I wish I could afford one actualy, I won't even have to change my mobo (shameless plug) :D

*cackles* Yesss...the X2 has tempted yet another 754'er into falling to the dark side of A64. Feel the power that is the dark side!

Okay, I've officially been playing KOTOR too much...

The ULi M1689 supports the X2?

Haha, too true.

3200+ DTR arrived today. Is there something specific I should look for in the steppings to predict an overclock?

hehehe, this should be interesting baron ;)

LeArN2LiVe, can you post the second line of the OPN here?

Two Panaflow 120mm for the rad? Sex-C. :D

And CCU, have you tried other timings with your memory? Just because something is sold at certain (and albeit shitty) timings doesn't mean it has to run at that...or does yours just not run any lower than what it's binned at?

ive tried EVERYTHING, and i think even at 245, which is what i hafta do to sucide at 2.7ghz, i think im getting memtest errors at 3-4-4-9. this memory is crap, im gonna sell it and pick up 2 sticks of something nice

im betting its just a Claw, newark hasnt been seen outside of shentech and vandi over at XS

Can I ask some advice? I'm currently selling my Asus K8V SE board since I got my Chaintech VNF3 board. What would be a good price for it? I am including all the accessories.

id say probably around 50-55 bucks shipped is a legit deal, including everything. i sold my kv8-pro with an old hsf for 66 shipped, and the board retails for 80ish, and the hsf retails for like 25ish. id say 50-55 is definately a legit price.

Thanks for the advice. Price is dropped. Anyone looking to build a stock 754 system would be well served by this board. It has the build quality and feature set that is typical of ASUS.

i'm getting DFI NF3 board for my socket 754 setup. Can anyone recommend anything significantly cheaper that allows undervolting but over-clocking/volting isnt required. NF3 also if possible because its supposed to be nice and stable

Anyone know where I can buy the low voltage socket 754 cpu (I think it's Turion)? Can it run on an nForce4 Socket 754 motherboard? Is the MSI K8N Neo3 worth getting? I was going to jump to X2, but I think I'll wait a little longer before upgrading.

IMO, utrion isnt worth it. Like $300, for that you can get a venice and a dfi  but if you really want it you can get it from a guy named vandal on xs and pcper

There are Turions, but there is also Mobile Athlon 64's that are alot cheaper and perform just as good. Try to get your hands on a Newark and OC the crap out of it :D

Do they or are they going to make s754 with a good PCIe bus? If not, might want to sell wile its still worth something... I think they need to thought. Shit I think they should have SLI s754

they do/are going to make SLI s754, epox took charge on that one, and they do/are going to make a GREAT NF4 s754 board, called the DFI OC PARTY which is like a lanparty - good looks + highest quality Transistors and Resistors and Caps and Mosfets and stuff. Epox arleady had their PCI-E mobo out already.

Edit : I finally Got to [H]ardgawd today. w00t!

On topic, people. This thread was stickied for a reason, and the last 2 pages are making me think you guys are smoking the funny stuff..

don't forget :D
(not directed towards you techhead ;))

Oh oh, sorry again, I am an off topic soul..
So how come it is impossible to have Dual Channel memory on a S754 platform?

Or.. OMGWTFLOLBBQ.

That's where you barbeque the 12 year olds that can't use proper english or work a shift key, right?

Anyway, pluggage for the thread with Eclipse's Crucial Value 1GB results. All hail the new default for 754 mATX microservers & WoW/BF2 rigs.

bwahaha, nice one ash. and thanks for the linkage :D

no pins for the extra memory channel

ALERT!

There is a possibility of being able to get s754 club t-shirts that say something like "I <3 my s754" in black with white lettering. This post is to get a good idea for how many people will buy one, because it seems that there's a minimum of 24. PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

Ah, so the DIMM slots have different amounts of pins on S939 boards?

And, I will buy a T-Shirt but I will tell you this, I was in a Diablo II clan for a year and they never got them :( Kinda sad.. I wanted one :)
I hope this T-Shirt thing turns out good!

no. each memory channel needs it's own data path from the memory controller. thus why s939 is.. 939, and has more pins that 754 :D

and that makes 4 so far! (maybe 5 :p)
