Logitech G500?

I think logitech is making a rather huge mistake not bringing this to best buy. They have brought almost every other mouse to them why not this one? I most definitely will not purchase this mouse unless it is from BB.

Agreed...mostly because I have a BB gift card which desperately needs to be used.

A gift card has to be involved, I dont see any other way it would be rational to boycott a product because it isnt sold in a certain store.

though I pretty much do that with newegg lol

Not sure you can say this. BB sometimes doesn't get stock until after it's out a while. The Razer Mamba is a good example.

Hmm wonder why they dont have them on the website. Do you mind telling us what state ur BB is in?

Looks like he is in Florida from his profile. The item might just be too new / not a super high demand that they haven't put it up yet.

I just went to Best Buy during lunch and they had 2 on the shelves, now 1 since the other is sitting on my desk.

Just picked on up at a Best Buy in Stockton, CA. Had two when I got there. Price wasn't listed eitehr for some reason but it was MSRP at $69.99. Lovin it so far.

I just got, and am using, my new G500, sent to me by Logitech as a replacement for my G5 that had a button going bad..............awesome mouse, and I am glad that the G500 seems to nicely expand on the great usability, feel, and speed of the original G5.

What a great company to replace my broken mouse w/ this new mouse! Can't say enough good things about Logitech (and this is not my first good experience w/ them).

Damn, that's sweet! You didn't request an upgrade or anything, they just sent it?

That's like calling about a broken set of Z-2300s and receiving a new set of Z-5500s. Kudos to Logitech!

Is this because you don't have a frys by you? If you ask nicely I'll bet newegg would pay for return shipping if it doesn't work out. Unless ur a rewards junkie/gift card. Still it's funny, there's mostly hate for that store. (I bought my 518 from BB)

edit: damn iPhone and not seeing the whole page of new replies

I did notice that BB got the new Death Adder now if they will just Adder the G500 I'll be happy.

Well what do ya know I went by BB after class and there were 2 G500's staring at me. I just couldn't let them both remain on the shelf so one went home with me. Haven't tried it yet, but am looking forward to it.

Yeah I guess. I spend good gobs of money with BB so im a little angry my fav store doesn't have them. If that answers ur question. No if I dont like the feel of a mouse I will return it, thats why I dont purchase from newegg. PLUS I need instant gratification.

GUES WHO...... just picked on of these mice up at BestBuy???

I wont hold you in suspense ME!!!!!

Yup called up there and got the only one there. So far I like the new feel gonna take some getting use to but oh well. Shape isnt too much different from the G5 but there is more of a thumb area which is great.

Due to the hype u generated we're going to need hi res imagery with full frontal and bottom shots.

Well, a little disappointed on the one I got. Maybe it's just this one I got, but the left and right buttons feel a bit loose especially the right. I really like for the buttons to not have any play in them if at all possible. My G9 is about perfect in that regard.

I guess I try one more and if it's the same I'll have to come to a decision as to just keep it or maybe do nothing since my G9 is still working ok.

holy christ...I ordered my G500 from Amazon on the 1st

its estimated delivery date is 10/16

what the fuck man...

After a few more days of using my G500, I've become very annoyed at one thing...

The freaking grip along the sides of the mouse feels like sandpaper. It irritates the hell out of my hand because I'm used to the smooth rubbery grip of the MX518. I've had to switch back to the old mouse just because it got so annoying...

It's such a shame too. In every other aspect the G500 is clearly superior to the MX518. They had to go and ruin the mouse by using that gritty plastic grip. It's supposed to reduce hand sweating, but for me, it makes my hand sweat even more because the rough surface irritates my skin.

I wish I could take the G500's guts and put them in the MX518...

your hands get irritated from the sides of this thing? are you kidding me? its not like sandpaper it is lightly textured. that's the wussiest thing I have heard in quite some time

-- go get some read sandpaper or a dremel and sand it off if you don't like it. its just rubber on the sides

I guess I don't have a lot of room to talk since I'm pretty picky myself, but to me it doesn't feel like sandpaper or that your hand would get irritated unless you're doing something else with it. Didn't the G5 have that texture too?

Do others here give there computers endearing names? No offense CompuG##K.

Yes it does.

I have had computer-related jobs for my entire adult life. I have not been out there, doing hard labor in oil fields or anything like that. My hands are not calloused or abused in any way. They are what you would expect after over a decade of typing for a living.

I have been using a G5 with the rough rubber texture since they were first released, and I have never experienced irritation or discomfort because of it.

Ok, so maybe I exaggerated a little on the sandpaper grip comment. I didn't expect to get pummeled to bits just by stating my opinion...Jeez...

I've been using the MX510/518 for the better part of 5 years and I'm very comfortable with the smooth grip they they have. The textured grip on the G500 just feels awkward to me...

I prefer it on my G5. Even the minimal texture makes it fell less... clammy then a smooth mouse. And I have very dry hands (I dont leave fingerprints on glossy pictures lol)

Do you feel like a man now?

The G5 v2 had a sort of well, what I called Spiderman Jizz all over the top. It felt like a rough type of rubber and bugged me enough to take it back almost instantly. Is this the same sort of texture on the G500's sides or is it something else?

oh god damnit...I got my G500 and its great...except my page forward thumb button is dysfunctional. If I only press it with light force, it clicks but does not register as a button press. I can sit here and press it 100 times and get nothing out of it unless I press it firmly.

Anyone else able to reproduce this?

My button works fine for me. I do find it a bit hard to reach, though, assuming you're talking about the thumb button furthest away from you.

Right, defend a shitty aspect of a product with an ad hominem.

lol

and yes I do, Jodiuh, thanks for asking

been using my G500 for a few weeks now, and it works pretty well. I have found that the mouse wheel is a little hard to use in games when using the "push down" function - I find myself always clicking the scroll wheel right instead of pushing down. Other than that it is a very nice mouse. My precious thumb has yet to become irritated.

Is the G500 worth $20 over the MX518 or $25 over the Deathadder? I need a new mouse and I'm having a hard time deciding. ~$60 just seems a bit much for a mouse, then again it should last for many years so I don't mind spending extra on a good mouse if it's worth it. I liked the silver G5, but the blue G5 is just so damn ugly plus it's only $10 cheaper than G500 so I'm not really considering that one.
