Live From Apple's iPhone 5 Event

Yay, another new proprietary non-standard connector.

Woooooo! Now I get to have MULTIPLE chargers for my different devices instead of just plugging the one that needs to be plugged in, to a standard USB cable. /rofl

I like my DroidX, yeah it's fucking big, I like the fact I can read the screen.

Oh yeah, I actually make calls on it, too.

iPhone is for all the cool kids.:D I'm not in that circle.

CNET is going at Apple hard. I am really digging their commentary.

how can anyone stand getting the SAME looking phone over and over again?

LOL, "Can be plugged in in either direction. 80% smaller -- huge difference, Schiller says." regarding the Lightning connector, as a major new feature. Yes, because it's SOOOOOOOO hard to match the shape on a micro-USB connector, or just feel that it's not going in, and just flip it. That SURELY needed a new propietary connector that eschews compatibility with all your other devices!

iCloud Tabs ... Chrome 2 Phone ??? Apple is just playing catch up again. Show me something new!

We are talking about people who just spent hundreds of dollars on a designer phone.

Thanks for the link. There are so many people just trying to cash in on the attention I couldn't find a decent live report easily.

Because I actually love the look of my iPhone, and think this new one looks just as good.

I'm not someone that has such a short attention span that I need something new to look at all the time.

Then why are you looking at upgrading to a new phone anyway?

That makes you the pot calling the kettle black. Congratulations.

No I'm simply playing crApple's game.

I don't begrudge them for copying ideas, I begrudge them for copying ideas and then having the nerve to bitch and moan like a bunch of spoiled little children when someone allegedly copies them.

Larger screen, thinner, 8 megapixel camera, panoramic photography, 4G, 5GHz WiFi, dual core cpu,

Sounds like a ripoff of the S3 :)

Apple still doesn't have an SD slot, replaceable battery and a standard USB port.

Also crApple is being sued because of Siri infringing on software patents. Looks like they "stole" that too.

Really? Why not just buy a smaller phone then? With Android you can choose what size and features you want. I, for one, don't like pecking at a tiny little screen trying to zoom around pages and apps to see what the heck is being displayed. I'm quite happy with my high-res Galaxy S3 on Verizon, thanks! For those who want smaller, there are a myriad of options around. For those who want larger.... there's larger (Galaxy Note + Galaxy Note 2, 5.3 and 5.5" respectively). Since when is not having the choice a better thing?

Choice is great for the consumers ... but really bad for companies ... there is a reason why most of the Android manufacturers are not making profits ... if they were smart they would start segmenting more and trying to lock into one or two niches and not trying to be everything for everybody ... if they could all lock into 3-4 standard sizes as well they could get economies of scale which would help their profitability ... not saying the Apple way is best but it is the most profitable ;)

Something is wrong with my speaker, it's very quiet. Also, my top button sticks and I went to the Apple store 3 days out of warranty.

With a USB port, who would buy crApple's overpriced accessories and power connectors.

With an SD slot, how would crApple force people to buy a whole new phone when they need more storage space?

With a replaceable battery, how would crApple force people to spend $100 to have their battery changed.

The connector is bullshit, though.

My friend with an iPhone (if he gets this) won't be too happy on spending another $30 or $50 on an adapter to that thing.

And, if making a connector that can go in on either side of it was the result of people can't figuring out how to insert a microUSB or USB cable correctly, then most of the world is lost.

I cannot fathom to think that some people cannot put a cable in correctly...

It's why they teach kids shapes and what doesn't go in what. A cylinder can't go in a square hole or hexagon hole. Simple logical stuff that's been taught since we were kids.

Now they are talking about having a "relationship" with your iPhone.

Frankly, I find that disturbing. It's a phone, not a girlfriend.

It's using the A6

I'd like to know more about this A6 chip. Considering how much of a power hog the A5X was, I'd like to know how they'll improve the performance without killing battery life. So far all I hear is Technobabble from Apple.

AFAIK it is TSMC 28nm

My 1.6 ghz quad core Tegra 3 absolutely trashes the A5X in power usage.

My tablet has a battery half the size of the iPad's and yet gets the same battery life.

You'll probably want to keep an eye on Anandtech. He generally does a good job of making reasonable assessments of what they're putting in their silicon.
