The Killer NIC, from front page...discuss how the 400mhz processor and 64MB of DDR justifies itself as a purchase for teh "OMG HAX HARDCORE GAMER".

So they put it under Networking instead of PC/Gaming. Delete this one then.

So all it does is QOS for the brainless gamer who can't setup QOS in his router? Sorry, but my ping to my router is 1ms, the average user only gains those precious ms when the packet leaves the network, where AFAIK those NIC does NOTHING. The only part that intrests me is that it could shave off a few cpu cycles, but the question is, how noticeble will it be?

As a side note, wwwwwwwhy did [H]ard forum implement intelitext? :(

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I fuckin want one of those to go with all my Fatal1ty gear!!!!!!!1111

Seriously though, if you have a windowed case, what better to have than a PCI card with a big metal "K" on it!!??

One of the dumbest gaming specific hardware pieces I've seen in a while. Umm... how about just put in any old PCI NIC? That offloads the instructions from the CPU right there compared to an onboard. Sheesh... 64mb onboard RAM? For what? lol

On their page there is absolutely NO technical data, no benchmarks or hard facts. Just a bunch of "ooo, it does this and ooo it makes stuff faster and ooo it offloads instructions".

L A M E

EDIT: Eeww... intellitext. O well... [H] gettin' the sponsors, baby!

Oh, I am sure we will see a review on it and then we will know.

I am not buying it unless I see a review that shows it works.

It looks like it's running on the main site, too. I'm not observant enough, though, to know when it actually started.

Gaming NIC isn't just gimmicky, it's a stupid gimmick.

Comments about the various features:

UltimatePing - Nearly all of the latency comes from traveling across the country, not going from your NIC to your modem. Worthless.

MaxFPS - Cool, it's a PCI NIC. Worthless.

FNA - More marketing bullshit. Worthless.

GameFirst - This can be done on routers and if there's multiple computers on the network this GameFirst thing won't matter if someone else is downloading a ton of stuff, it will have to be prioritized by the router. Mostly worthless.

Ping Throttle - Uhh... just plain stupid.

In conclusion, this product is an overhyped, worthless pile of steaming dog shit.

Couldn't have said it better myself!

Anyone remember when Creative was touting the X-Fi to improve framerates by 38%? This product seems to be following Creative's marketing "genius". I'd love to see some benchies with this mighty killer NIC installed and see the "massive" performance gains. My guess? : absolutely ZERO (versus a regular PCI NIC) lol

Or how about zero versus an integrated networking solution as well...

I wonder if we'll have a hardcore Gamerz USB 2.0 PCI Hub. Includes heatsink, leds and a program to change your USB update frequency! Plus Gamerz Touch (TM) mouse control software that lets you control the speed at which your mouse moves!

Well I remember reading some reviews of the onboard NICs of the NF3 mobos and they sucked a few cpu cycles away. (at the most around 2% if I recall correctly...) Anyhoo, to an overclocker/tweaker those precious cycles need to be used for more "critical" things. :D Even comparing the killer NIC to an onboard solution would be entertaining. Me thinks the performance gains would be next to nil, but still measurable.

killer nic = killer hype

The 64MB of DDR have to be worthless unless there's an OS running on the card itself.

I'm also wondering what kind of data that RAM will be handling.

So obvious and I didn't even think of that! :D

Maybe it's real RAM, soldered onto the NIC, but it's not actually connected to anything? ;)

That's exactly what I was thinking.

They should have made it a full-length card, and populated both sides with 41256 chips. :D

Wait...wait...can we overclock that RAM and NPU? OMG...that would be uber sweet. I'd really pwn at CS...I mean, I think I could kick everyone's ass in Daikatana and DukeNukem Forever!!!!11111111

I think I am gonna make myself the first Killer FanB0y.

You all suck and Killer is the best NIC period. It pwns your Intel and Realtek NIC's. :D

My 3com NIC will blast that piece-o-killer NIC. My 3com has... umm... a 3 on it!! AND the lights blink! Well, maybe the killer NIC's lights blink, too, but 3com's blinkys are legendary.

DEC Tulip FTW! (actually, I think the DEC NICs really were my favorite cards)

I want these killer NICs in Quad SLI for ub3r pawn4ge!!!!!!!!!!!111111111oneoneoneleven
