Just Cause 3

Could never get into the first two.

Which begs the question why start this thread. :)

Personally, I can't wait. I like what RPS has to say about this series:

"It’s what happens when Grand Theft Auto and Far Cry hook up, and make Saints Row the godfather to their bastard child. The child is baptised in a font of flame that is kicked out of a helicopter and parachutes onto the burning wing of a plane that is tethered to a lorry that is driving off a cliff while somebody stands on its roof adopting a surfer pose while shooting rockets at the moon."

I played a bit of the second, I ended up quitting because I got to a stage I couldn't complete with 100%. Frustrated me. Probably won't play this one even though I will buy it stupidly during a sale.

I loved JC2 and I have over 100 hours played and I do not recall ever completing the story line. It sounds as just a damned fun game to mess around in.

I have been waiting for this game to be announced for soooooooo long. Loved JC2 so much, best sandbox openeworld game ever :D

JC2 was fun for a while with all the things that you could do on such a huge map. The story though was awful, including the voice acting. I wonder how they will go about this one.

Yeah, the one thing I hated about JC2 was the voice acting.

JC2 was one of the best games I have ever played, it was just a good combination of fun, environment, gfx, some over the top stuff. Haven't had that much fun since NOLF/2.

That said, I paid like $7.50 for JC2. Despite the fun I had with it I can't imagine paying more than $15 for JC3. I can wait til it gets to that price.

People actually played the JC2 story line, and thought that was the point of the game? YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG. It's just death and destruction and mayhem and more destruction. You play the 'story' just to get the next unlocks then you continue on with your death and destruction mayhem. Best sit down while you need to kill half an hour game ever.

I really only have one thing to say with regard to JC3 being on the way.

JC2 wasn't perfect, there were issues with the grappling hook often, and the story sucked, but it was a pretty fun open world game to mess around in.

Yes, exactly, and the multiplayer mod was 10x more fun than the campaign. Just a silly sandbox where you spawn 747s or boats in the sky and try to blow up the other people's vehicles while hopping around on your grappling hook.

I hope there is a bit more to do on the map. The last map looked nice and had variety, but there was just not much to do in it. Even very limited destruction. Something like Red Faction: Guerrilla would have been nice.

I didn't mean to imply that I played it for the story. I played that game to the ground and ignored the story. It was a fun game!

I fucking loved JC2. I've never spent more time playing a game. I have spent close to 100 hours on it and have over 75% complete even with all the factions objects collected.

JC2 was the ultimate sandbox. 400 square mile map. JC3 will supposedly be even bigger.

They had Lost references in JC2. I'm hoping for even more weird crap that one could find in JC3.

Shut up and take my money!

Might be time to break the self-imposed pre-order embargo I put in place after Mass Effect 3.

Yeah - this will be a day one insta-buy for me... JC2 is one of my favorites.... either playing the game or just messing with shit (seing which vehicle will launch and crash best off a jump) or driving or boating or flying around ooooing and ahhhhing at all the scenery.. It's a game to suit just about any mood I am in. :)

This will be a day one for me.

Good. Focus on SP first and then deal with the MP afterwards. I'm sure this game will have MP before it's all said and done.

Day one for sure. No brainer. They are saying at that link that everything seems to be generally improved since JC2. For anyone that likes the freeform screwing around in GTA5 in terms of just big sandbox that let's you get into trouble using a big toybox of vehicles, the Just Cause series actually does that even better.

Did thye ever fix the issue where DLC weapons would not resupply from crates? That was pretty retarded and one time use.

Cannot wait for this. Absolutely had a blast with JC2, and integrating a fully-fleshed MP feature is going to be an absolute riot!

The first time you fire a grappling hook into a militia dude, and fire the other end at a moving object like a passing car or helicopter and see them pulled away like a ragdoll, there's that lightbulb moment and things are just never the same. Pretty soon you're tying everything to everything and the gameworld just collapses into a singularity. Good times always.

Perhaps my finest moment in JC2 was announcing the hijacking of a military jet, standing on the nose cone and surfing it all the way into a sunbathing hooker's ass crack on a beach somewhere.

Just caused 2 was cool, but I absolutely hated the controls.... It needs to be tighter. t just felt so floaty to me that its hard for me to play. I hope JC3 does that better. I only played about 10 hours and I had fun but at the same time, I was being annoyed.

I can't wait for this!

So far it's one of my most anticipated releases of the year.

just cause 2, looks like I put 26 hours into it before I stopped. The world was just too big. and the freaking airplane controls on a keyboard were impossible since you did not have a "turn" left/right but it was "tilt". I became annoyed and quit at that point.

This. And too much auto everything that took control away from the players. If they can fix that they will have a good game on their hands. Assuming it is at least on par with JC2, at least it will be leaps and bounds better than that shit GTA that is going to come out.

Maybe that was why I couldn't get into it...

I tried to get into JC2, played it for at least a few hours...haven't picked it up since. It seemed like a cool concept but for whatever reason it just didn't grab my attention.

Use an XBox360 controller for airplane, car and parachute controls, and switch to keyboard and mouse for everything else, including helicopters and boats.

It is best to never upgrade the Peek Airhawk 225 (the basic stunt airplane), but a lot of the airplane challenges are MUCH easier if you use the black market to run them with a helicopter instead, particularly if it is a fully upgraded Rowlinson K22 (the fast little one).

Am I the only one hoping they do something new/different with this one?

I enjoyed JC 1/2, but lose interest after playing them a bit. They seem to focus more on quantity rather then quality with their gameplay/story.

I'd rather have a smaller but much more detailed world with smarter AI (Think Shadows of Mordor) and other gameplay improvements over simply "bigger JC2 world with slightly new graphics."
