Intel Retail Edge 2006!

I'm assuming that they are going to keep with tradition on the Windows software being Unlicensed. Yes, you have a CD, yes, you have a legit key, but the wording on your key says "Unlicensed Software".

For those who have gotten this in the past, please look at your original key sticker before spouting off.

My key says "PROOF OF LICENSE"

Full retail license, activated it once via net and have made numerous hardware change each activating with no problems via net. WGA passes with flying colors.

Im pretty sure i didnt accidently get a retail key.

hey i just got in on this program (late, i know) and got the 8k req'd points to qualify, but its impossible for me to get to 12k (1.1k short, unless they txt msg me a code like they said they might).

anyways, what determines if ppl with 8k chips get the bundle? is it a lottery? do the next highest chip holders get it? if you dont know thats fine, but if you do, sweet. tia :D

Don't get too freaked out by not having the chips. I will be over the limit for a guaranteed bundle for the first time this year, and last year I got the bundle with no problems even though I had only 8000 chips. Perhaps they raised it this year to give fewer away, but I think you should try to buy and see what they say. It never hurts! ;)

I got last years bundle for my game box, and I'm even contemplating selling this year's mobo for a screaming overclocker friendly board. C2E speeds are in these chips, and they seem to be stable at that speed. Either way, I will have two dual core systems at home. Now to see where I can get the money for 2 gig of PC6400 DDR2......

I belive it is first come first served... not 100% sure though
They usally have a shit ton of them though, so you should be safe, but none the less, check the page every 20 seconds on the 17th until you get it :)

I have 16k so i am good, but i will be in Nepal on the 17th, so I have my Brother ordering it for me, i am sure i could get it when i get back on the 25th, but meh, just feel better about getting it the day the thing starts...

I'm in the same boat (assuming my friend, who I haven't been able to get a hold of lately, is still technically a BB employee)- buying the bundle for the CPU and Vista, and planning to eBay the motherboard. Actually, anyone need a Intel® Desktop Board DG965WH (Bad Axe)? :D

Honestly, I thought they'd be around already. :(

Bad Axe is D975XBX. DG965WH is Westchester.

I did it last year cpu and mob are still my main machine. I have 12810 right now so no matter what I should get the combo right?

if they want they can wiggle out of giving u the combo, but your 99% sure to get one

woohoo, 24,450 points and 2 live events to go. Still trying to convince Intel that we, the 25,000K club, should get a higher processor than the 6300.

I didn't think they could "wiggle out" of anything. It says on their site, "12,000 points or higher guarantees a bundle." There.

Our Intel reps were in the store verifying employment. (Wrote down names to speed up actual verification process)

They also handed out pens that had a code for 500 points for those needing some extra points.

lemme know how that goes, shoot for 20k! so i can get one lol

I know the Intel area rep that plans our "Live Events". He's pretty cool. When I won last years bundle as a door prize, they only gave me the MB and Proc. Not the XP Pro or the Adobe titles. Almost a year later, after attending 3 live events and the winners of those door prizes got the whole package, I brought it up to his attention. Within a week, I had the software.

So hopefully, this will work out. I feel the 6400 processor, available ONLY to the 25K club would be a nice reward to those who have been with Retail Edge taking the challenges & reading the articles since Jan 1, 2006 and more.

Maybe even the 6600 processor? :D

They can wiggle out if you have LESS than 12K

Yes, 12 K is guarenteed where as 8K is not

I work for CompUSA so I'm not worried, but are they going to do an employment verification for every single bundle they ship? Seems like a lot of overhead.

Heads up on this "employment verification" thing.

The Intel reps will come by the stores to verify for the new-comers. Also, these "year-end" Live events will have Instant verification. Just bring the MOST RECENT pay stub to the event and blam, you are verified.

Yes sir, it's a quick process. Since we don't know the street value of Vista yet, I can only use last years bundle to compare.

Last year, on the street when first offered, the package was $1500 for only $225
So yes, it's important to verify everyone because Intel is loosing a lot of revenue on each of us, but in the end, we can make informitive suggestions to our customers.

i did got that 500 points by updating my account, so am i already verified :D

I was saying that 12810 points is a guarantee, and that Intel couldn't "wiggle out" of sending the bundle.

Also on Intel's site it says

Supplies are limited

Also-

Collect 12,000 Chips total to guarantee the opportunity to purchase a bundle.

However, I doubt they will skimp out. Hence the 99%~ and they -can- wiggle out.

If you need the extra points try going into your account preferences and turning on the email. It gave me a 500 point jump, but I am not sure it is still active. Warming up the Mastercard now......

i have like 10975 points and can't get anymore.. Anyone have any thoughts of getting another 1025 before tomorrow?????? I have already gone and downloaded everything in the toolbox and accepted to receive messages..

Anyone have any codes they would want to give away?

Woo Hoo! I'm at 14180 so I'm guaranteed to get one. I have never done one of these before so how long does it take to recieve my mobo and processor after I make my order tomorrow (Oct 17)? I already know about Vista's 2007 release date so I'm not expecting that any time soon but I am anxious to recieve the mobo/processor combo. Thanks guys.

Dude, it just starts tomorrow. The final purchase date is around mid January if it's ran like last year. they still have November and December's Articles and challenges, downloads and logins to do.

Again, it just STARTS tomorrow (actually 40 minutes from now) He he he

about 3 weeks for the package to come in
but then again I ordered in December

Well, I ordered the Bundle tonight. Woot.

Total Cost delivered including tax / shipping is $240.35.

Item are IN STOCK, and should be shipped out Wednesday. Will have it by the weekend.

It sure pays to go to the Retail Edge Events as you are instantly verified!!!

I think I could be the first dude with the order.

Chip Rank was 2,130.

Hopefully verification is quick! They should fast track people that have done it for the past year or more. They have gotten better about it every year.

WTF I WAS VERIFIED AT AN EVENT BUT IT SAYS IM NOT! WTF!?!?!

Let me see, if you view your chip status does it say Congratulations. It should, especially if you went to an event. You may not be navigating thru the menus correctly on the site. I had to try it several times. When ordering, it took me 6 times for the price to be correct after I entered the promotion code.

I believe there could be some bugs, as the system is being "overloaded" at this time. It was VERY slow at 12:30 EST.

Hope this helps.
