12470 chips here =) I got last year's bundle as well. Can't wait for this year's bundle.

ya i need a computer that i can use while at work (cant decide if im going to use my shuttle at work or this bundle) and wouldnt mind vista either, but im assuming they are either going to delay shipping, change it to xp pro or give us a cupon of some sort in the event vista isnt out/rdy

How much do you guys think just the proc and motherboard are worth? If it was to be resold new

This is discrimination!
I work for a local computer co./store that builds white boxes and sells some prebuilt machines (like Acer Notebooks, ect.) and Ham Radio (think Katrina,EMA)

Why does some kid working in a blue shirt get this deal and everyone I work with does not?

Most of IT in my area(NASA, Mil air defense) dont shop CompUSSR and Worstbuy b/c the stores are filled with college freshmen that dont know what they are selling and most of the stuff is very proprietary, and when it breaks you forced to purchase new machine.

I have replaced so many mainboards/PSUs b/c the crappy emachine PSU failed and overvolted the mainboard that I can not even think of the number, thats what you get at those stores.

because we probably see a lot more customers. By taking this training, we learn more about these products and that helps us sell them.

and at Comp USA at least, nothing we sell is proprietary (aside from the notebooks of course).

There has to be a way to be added as a reseller. You could ask your manager to call an intel rep about this for one. They would probably welcome any new people, considering they want you to pimp their stuff. It's worth a shot. Used to be that if they didn't have your store listed you would just fill in the info and they would contact the store manager. I do not know if they will still do that for you or not.

Actually, if you sell desktops from HP, Compaq, Gateway, Emachines, Sony, or a couple others I'm forgetting, then you do sell proprietary machines. All of these mfgs. use non-removable I/O shields meaning that your choice of MB's is very limited. Also, many of the cases need about a half-inch of metal clipped off the back to get some of the generic power supplies in (not that big a problem if you got a nibbler .

Hehehe...over 10K chips now with one live event and next months tests to go. I'll get 12K easily.

The IO shield maybe, but I've never had a problem replacing power supplies in those machines. For the older ones yeah, but any of the new ones we sell are fine.

$225 for the processor alone new
$130 for the Motherboard
$ ??? For Vista Untimate? Maybe $300 if the rest of the consumers are lucky ??? :D

Racking the chips up. Now 20,900 chips and counting. Hope our area Intel rep can swing getting the 6400 processor instead of the 6300 because of the amount of points.

Actually small shops can get the same deal without jumping having to acumulate points. When I worked at a small shop (former co-workers got the deal last year also) (15ish employees) we were able to get the same bundle, we just had to tell our manager we wanted it and then he requested them and we each got a unique code and a link to go to order them.

Took the new test and article and it put me at 11150. Next month test gets me guarenteed! :D

Same here.... this month put me at 11,125 so I'll be guaranteed after next month's. I can't wait! I'm due for an upgrade. :) Hopefully it hasn't been mentioned, but after ordering your package, how long does it take to receive it?

About a week or two. It's UPS shipping

We have to wait for the Vista release, I was told. I think one of my co-workers got last year's around January.

12,100! Yay!

If you take all the past challenges, the current one, download a couple of tools, attend an event, check out all the articles, you can still make 12K starting today. So, there is still hope if you have not signed up.

Hey everyone, this is the first time that I have participated in the retail edge promotion, and it seems like I might have jumped on the bandwagon a little too late (last week) I have done all the challenges and read all the articles and have logged in 4 times this month and downloaded 2 of the pdf files (the most you get credit for in a month) so I have every possible point that I can get but still only have 9800 chips, and even with a new challenege next month I think I might just fall short of the 12,000 needed chips. I was hoping to attend a live event to get a bonus of 1000 chips however there are none in my state of Michigan, and I was wondering if anyone was going to be attending one, and if so if they could post their code which they recieved for going, as I'm sure it will work for everyone. Thanks for your help and good luck to everyone who is participating in this event!

I signed up October 26th last year, I qualified for the reserved bundle. Mi might not have an event now, but they will. If like last year, chips in January will count till the cutoff of the bundle purchase. so keep racking them up.

I can't wait for this, I got it three years ago, two years ago and skipped last year
now i am dieing to get my hands on this one. I won't be back in the US till the 17th of December, but i belive i am still on the books at Best Buy enough to quilify :)

One hell of a X-mas presant, one to go home, two to play with core duo goodess after spending the last 4 months on a 1.73 Centrino
Just to have a my dual monitors back....

anyways, Everyone else, keep up, new stuff is posted, as well as remember your logins count too!

Actually each code handed out is different than the next. So the only way it's gonna work is if someone is willing to 'give up' the 1000 chips (or 5-finger a second code).

Woohoo!!!
Over 13k here...that CPU combo is mine.

Side note - Has anyone seen the retail HS that comes with the C2D's? Now that they have a much cooler CPU on their hands I'm wondering if Intel cut costs and bundled a cheaper HS as well(?)

Edit - SS

Man, I have 13k points but I really don't want my bundle. I plan on getting a laptop and finally ridding myself of the desktop.

Just head over to the For Sale forum (when you get it) and I'm sure you'll find people who will take it off your hands.

Problem is, the person will want the copy of Vista and that won't be released until next year. If anything, I might have a need for that copy myself.

Well, I'm off at college, which means that according to BB, I'm on extended leave. This would be my first bundle. Since I'm not an active, working employee, though, no Intel for me?

*bump*

Program hits in a week, this is definately one of their better deals in a long time. I'm short 75 points :(

I have over 16.5K but I'm not looking forward to the bundle except Vista. I'm wiling to sell my bundle minus Vista for anyone who's interested. =]

13,900 here... getting the bundle...

its worth it just for vista ultimate... i'll probably sell the 6300 and the mobo, and get a 6600 and a new mobo once i sell my axp rig parts.

as for the cooler... i have a 92mm zalman sitting on my new p180b just waiting.. gonna pick up some ram here soon too.

how long did it take them to ship it last year?

one of my coworkers didn't get his until near christmas last year.

this year, neither of us are enthused enough about the bundle to bother with it. i figured back when they announced it that the price curve would make it kinda mediocre by the time you'd actually recieve it, despite how nice it looked then.

What store?
i missed last year, but the 2 previuos years it "only" took about a month or a little over, to have it all go through. (Best Buy)

yeahm i'm not really into this for the conroe and mobo.. i plan on ordering a 6600 and aw99-max in the next month, and selling the 6300 and intel mobo for a profit... then i get vista for free. that what i really want.

I'm assuming that they are going to keep with tradition on the Windows software being Unlicensed. Yes, you have a CD, yes, you have a legit key, but the wording on your key says "Unlicensed Software".

For those who have gotten this in the past, please look at your original key sticker before spouting off.

How does this differ from an OEM CD/Key? Any restrictions/limitations?

Did anybody get verified yet? And when I say verified, I mean the website saying your verified.

I didn't think they started verifying until the actual promotion started. 13,000+ chips! I made it! Let's hope "I" am only on leave from Best Buy.

12,100! Yay!

I e-mailed them about this and they replied:

"The Windows* Vista* Ultimate disc may not be available when you purchase your bundle. However, every Program member who purchases a bundle will received a full copy of Windows Vista* Ultimate when it launches in 2007. We are currently working on an interim solution regarding the Operating System that will be shipped with the bundle. Further information should be available soon in the Purchase Program and FAQs area of the site."

Soooo will it be one of the vista RC's or a copy of XP? Hmmm.............
