Intel Pulls “Racially Insensitive” Ad

Sadly blacks in todays world do nothing but look for anything than can possibly hint of racism and by doing so are making sure that it will always be around. I will even say that blacks are probably more racist than any other race, but that is ok in everyone else mind. I can guarantee you that if it was a black guy standing and white guys on the blocks it would have been just fine.

Congratulations! You've provided an example of ACTUAL racism.

Like it or not EVERYBODY is racist to some degree, even yourself. Its human nature. Others tend to take their racism to the extreme unlike most of the rest of us who just keep it quietly to ourselves and move on with their lives.

To say there isn't a problem with perceived racism in this country is asinine.

I'm asian. I see nothing wrong with the add. Only racist people would see that there's something wrong. Like they say, it takes one to know one.

I didn't realize the Resident Evil 5 people were making Intel ads now.

yeah, because you know people had so many problems with the first 4 games.

oh no you have some black zombies now, never mind the 4 games before with mutated white people. now we have problems!

these organizations are so retarded they should be matched by people going around complaining when people place black people in ads on purpose, even though they look completely out of place for the sake of racial harmony.

I think that your post starting with "i'm asian" basically throws you right into the "it takes one to know one" category

What the hell? I had to look at it for a minute to figure out wtf was the big deal.. Even then, if I had seen it normally I wouldn't have even thought about it.. Who sits there day in, day out just looking at everything trying to find something potentially wrong about it?

Those were my exact thoughts.

perhaps i'm ignorant, or perhaps it's just my good fortunes for being raised in a culturally diverse country like Canada. I seriously don't see anything wrong with this ad. At first glance i saw a guy surrounded by sprinters. i had to think about it for a minute to find the supposed racism in the ad. When will we as a people, as a HUMAN, race give up the idea of segregating people in terms of the level of melanin in their skin, or by borders on a map?

but okay sure, somebody felt offended by this ad. why? really. i fail to see the insensitivity, i fail to see the racisim, i fail to see the offense. how is it offensive to see all african-american runners? or is it offensive to see a caucasian standing with african-american sprinters? why would it be less offensive to see a different mix of people? is it more or less offensive if everybody was of the same descent?

certainly racism is still a problem in parts of the world, but it does not exist in this ad. get over it.

Even if they are saying that all black people make good runners (or something equally silly), what is negative about that? I mean it's not true obviously, but is it offensive to tell someone that they are a good runner? Is being a runner bad? It's not like they are implying that some group of people are all prone to some crime or other negative trait. This ad only implies running - so what?

Whoever made this should be fired along with the people who allowed it to be released. Intel is a big company with lots of stacks. So I know they're policies on ads.

Intel failed to account for the fact that Black Rights groups will complain about everything, anything and never stop. They will look for things that are not there, and plain make crap up. If they had put 6 white sprinters, they would have issued a release saying it is racially discriminatory and if they had mixed it up with white and black they would have complained about something in the order, which ones were at the front, which at the back. Either placement would have some kind of negative connotation. You can't win, just stick by your guns and go with it.

Unfortunately true... yet there is absolutely never an issue with the reverse of what they complain about (i.e. affirmative action/etc.).

It's a good thing you're not generalizing.. because that would just make you look stupid .

This is an advertisement. It is made so people will look and associate a good idea or feeling with their product. If it does not invoke a good feeling or idea, it is pulled. Racism was just one of the many reasons why an ad sucks, so they pulled it because it was an innefective ad and a waste of their money.

And most of these posts are about as racist as I've ever seen, just with prettier language.

Whether it implies that I'm racist doesn't really matter, but if does, then it proves my point that people like to overreact about racism even more so. Put it this way, if I'm a racist, and I don't see any racism in the ad, then there shouldn't be any problems with the ad at all.

The fact that I start with "I'm asian" identifies me as a third party observing the events of white vs black in the ad. I've grown up and gone through life with people who are/were racist. I've felt racism first hand, so when I view this ad, I do not see any racism at all. People who call this ad racist are racist themselves, or they like to play the victim and use racism as a scapegoat. Sorry, this ad is a compliment.

On a side note, way back in highschool, I've observed that the minorities were usually the ones racist against the white guys. Go figure...

You know, after seeing this crap, I am really surprised the NAACP didn't try to claim that the GEICO car insurance ads were subliminally saying "It's so easy even a n***** could do it!"

I'm actually really, really surprised that didn't happen. :D

Could be worse, the man standing could have his fist in the air...

I don't quite get why there are six of them, though? Wouldn't two (dual) make more sense?

Or would the ad now look like an Oreo cookie?

(yikes, actually, only two of them crouched and one standing would look oddly phallic, to be honest...)

Don't know if I am offended, but I can't say it makes me want to buy an Intel CPU though, either...

who said they were even african -american. i cant see there faces did they move here from africa? were they born here? this african american crap really gets old. if you were born here your AMERICAN. if you moved here then maybe you can be african-american.

Just an observation, but I'm amazed at all of the attention that this is drawing. 4 pages of comments for what amounts to really a non-issue. Perhaps this will be one of the best ads they've ever made... It wouldn't be the first time a screw up worked in Intel's favor, Pentium Math bug anyone? I could kinda see how it could be misinterpreted, but I think it's fairly obvious that it was not the intent of the ad... To err is human. Really, nothing to see here folks, move along...

Well the thing that struck me was that they all had their heads down and were all facing the guy in the center (and thus facing opposite directions). It's apparent that it's trying to show sprinters but surely someone should have noticed that there's a little too much "racism fodder" in there.

While I agree that this "racially insensitive" political correctness is usually quite tiresome, that doesn't mean it doesn't actually exist.

Definition of Racism...

Racism - Any actions by groups other than African-Americans that offend Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton.

Quite franky, even in the chosen PC term to call people of African decent "African-American" is offensive to me. We should ALL be Americans. The name it's self is racist.

How dare they suggest black people are the best runners! Its crazy that they could be so racist that they would compliment black people right in their face like that.

Someone buy this guy a beer! :D

Wow.

You know they could have used a black guy in the center. problem solved.
White people dont normal bitch about rasist stuff like all black guys

This world is so F up its not even funny. cant wait for the day when we breed race out

Don't give me that bullshi*. First off all black people don't "bitch about racist stuff". How would I know? Im black and I don't find this racist. Stop trying to put all black people in a mold as if everyone of them thinks like Al Sharpton.

I don't see an issue with the add. There will always be racist individuals, but this isn't a case of that.

Plus only when some black people see themselves finally equal to whites, maybe then they won't see an issue with this add. It's their mentallity that causes them to believe the add is racist.

On a side note, way back in highschool, I've observed that the minorities were usually the ones racist against the white guys. Go figure...

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Never noticed that, and I went to a highschool in Chicago. Whites were cool with blacks. It was basically if you were a "nerd" or "lame" whether black or white you got issues. The white football players and dudes on the basketball team were treated great by every race cause they were "cool".

It's not a white or black thing. I'd put money down that whatever white kid you saw get bullied by a black kid wasn't because he was white, but because he wasn't "cool" or becasue he was a "nerd" or some emo. The same way black kids who are percieved that way get bullied too.

haha that would be awsome

*fires gun*
*all runners smash into each other simultaneously!*

I am African American, but I'm whiter than sour cream. :D

Regarding the topic: I don't see this as racism or any racial sensitive issue. However, I am growing tired of the complaints while other things goes un-noticed (such as Snoop Dogg callining white people crackers on some tv prank, nothing is ever said about that), or P Diddy using only white female dancers in his concerts wearing a black dresses while he wears a white suit.... nothing was said for that either. Or the fact that you get a million tv channels for Latinos, Blacks, Mideastern, etc... but make one for whites and you get a riot and people are fired.

But yet people moan and complain about some commercial.

It's time people drop looking for racial things, because IMO, if you look for it, you are part of the problem.

Anyways, this is my two cents.

Dead right on the assessment.

Groups such as the NAACP or Jesse Jackson's "Rainbow Coalition" don't care if they're right or wrong (and they are usually wrong almost all of the time). They'll do anything to try to get national exposure, and keep everyone in fear. If they accomplished that, then that's what makes them happy. They don't care about justice.

I think there was an outrage back when Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, was released, when they complained about Temeura Morrison being portrayed as a bad guy, making the Hispanic community look bad. The problem is, though, that Morrison was a New Zealander...

I'm sorry, but people in this world just need to toughen up. Come on, it a silly Intel ad of all things. Just my opinion.

Untrue. Simply because the nature of the human animal is to perceive and participate in groups does not mean that skin color is considered a significant difference by all.

reminds me of the time BenQ made an ad with the resemblance of the World Trade Towers crumbling in their ad, they wanted to emphasize that where there is Destruction, there is always Hope, But of course people got on the Band wagon about that, and all heck broke loose, and BenQ was flamed for that ad................get over it people
I'm Not racist, i hate everybody....lol......jk
