Terr0r said:i got a question. If im ordering a 9300 and i want built in bluetooth reciever, i.e. i dont need anything to use a mx900 with my laptop, what equipment do i need to add to my order? or is it automatically in the 9300
thanks
onetrueday said:dont add it to your order. buy it from parts for $13 instead.
If you add it during build, they want 40. What a rip!
I noticed that, too. I was wondering why CPU-Z shows 200MHz (DDR2-400MHz) and all other programs I tried show 266MHz (DDR2-533MHz).operaman said:BTW, just to add to this thread. There is an error in CPU-Z which has the FSB wrong under the memory tab. Everything is running normal. This is why some proggies are better not used to determine everything as far as how they are running...
can anyone tell me a program that will show the ram properly? Everywhere i look its either 200mhz or is vague, saying my ram is capable of running @266mhz but doesn't tell me the speed it IS running at. I tried everest, and that thing just seems to show what the ram's hardware specs are, not what they are running at. Thanks.pxc said:... all other programs I tried show 266MHz (DDR2-533MHz) ...

Boot from the memtest86+ 1.55 CD and you'll also see the correct memory speed.The_Engineer said:can anyone tell me a program that will show the ram properly?
Well, it says 533 but doesnt really specify anything. Thats dell tho too, so who knows, they might be lyinglopoetve said:Try the bios
Thanks. i'll dl and burn that.pxc said:Boot from the memtest86+ 1.55 CD and you'll also see the correct memory speed.
Ultra, thats the biggest difference. After that, its the gigabit networking, and the different looks, as well as External LED's. From there, i don't know that there is much else different. I love my 9300 and wouldn't spend the extra bucks for the XPS2, personally. Check out notebookforums.com for some good info tooPinataUT said:... 6800 go ultra ...
Mine doesn't click loudly. even if it did i'd rather have the speed than worry bout a lil noiseSpudsdude said:...

Order with 256 Ram, hit up newegg and get a 1GB stick for $123
You can also get the DVD +/- burner from newegg for $109 (nec 6500a)

For the display, the WUXGA is AMAZING!!!! Pictures don't do it justice.
Or grab a 1GB stick of el-cheapo from the egg for $140, and have 1.25GB of memory, instead of 1.0GB.PinataUT said:Memory...
Corsair VS512SDS533D2 SODIMM 512MB DDR2-533 PC4200 Value Select
$80/stick
Grab a pair of these and hang on to the old 256 in case of returns?

1.6 ghz p-m
256 mb ddr2 (just bought a gig)
dvd rom
64 mb radeon x300se
17" XGA+
40 gig 5400 HD
wireless 2200 card
quicksnap cover charcoal
don't know what else to list
anyway I got the above for $570 on dell/outlet. Plan on adding a dvd burner memory and doing the socket mod with a 1.7 ghz P-M to 2.26 ghz
Oh and a quick question does any1 know if a similiar mod could be done on the 6xx series p4 to go from 3 ghz to ghz ie 400 fsb to 533 fsb

If I add 1GB and take out one of the two 256 sticks (I have 512 - 2 x 256), will it still run dual channel?

DivideByZero said:I'm looking to upgrade the memory in my 9300 from 512MB (2 x 256) to at least a gig. I was thinking of buying a 1GB stick and replacing one of the 256s with it.
Two questions:
1 - Is there that much of a performance difference betwen 1.2GB RAM and 2GB RAM?
2 - By mixing the sticks with two different amounts, will there be much of a performance hit by not running dual channel?
Thanks.
Unless you are using onboard video, dual channel is just a gimmick on the P-M.The_Engineer said:2. It took alot of convincing for me to believe this, but there is only a marginal 3% +/- difference in speed with Adding dual channel on the Pentium M's as bandwith is not currently a factor at an already 533 FSB.

onoard = using shared memory for video ram. On single channel the video uses some of the bandiwdth going to the CPU, but on a dual channel you have half your bandwidth being unusable by the CPU. does that make sense?The_Engineer said:Onboard video as opposed to... External video on a laptop? Maybe i don't get what you're trying to say there.
Edit: are you referring to the new desktop motherboards that work with pentium-M chips?
Glad you got the video problems figured out. Dual displays is fun. Especially when they are running at 1900x1200 and 1600x1200x85hz![]()
