Inspiron 9300 thread

Nope mine is actually running at only 200Mhz as well. Would it increase maybe if you are doing something intensive? Does the centrino stuff kick down RAM speeds?

well i used Cpu burn in to max out my processor and the ram was still only running at 200...This is dumb because the ram is designated to run at 267..dell is curently sending me new ram and i will let others know if this fixes the problem...EVERYONE ELSE PLEASE CHECK RAM SPEEDS

THANKS

There have been MANY reports of this machine running at 400MHz for the RAM.

Kind of does not surprise me since the last gen P-M chip has a 400MHz FSB and yet the ram could only be PC2700 running at 333MHz.

I agree that it should run at 533MHz like advertised though.

I will check mine later when I get home from work.

Sooo, I ordered a 9300 with base mem ( upgrade later ), 6800 go + 3 year warranty ( EPP ) on Wed. Today I ordered the 9300 from Small Business with 6800, base mem, 80 GB HDD, CD burner ( free ), Printer ( free ), True Life screen and regular 1 year warranty. I saved 70 bucks, is this a good trade off? I do play games.

hi i have a question i have ordered a i9300 with the 760 2.0 processor and i was woundering if it is sonma based because i had heard someware that intel had said at the 2005 consumer electroncis show that they were going to update the centrino with the sonama.

Yes, it is Sonoma.

than you and also i have a question what is the difference between the 256 meg 6800 in the i9300 and the 256meg 6800 ultra in the xps gen2.

The 9300 has a SD slot on the right. Is there a speaker output with the audio plugs above it?
How bad is wristrest flex?

Dell's site says "Stereo headphones/speakers miniconnector (same as line-out), microphone miniconnector."

It looks and sounds like there's just one combined plug for both headphones and speakers. Maybe there's a software option to switch it from headphone to line-out mode.

What flex? ;)

I've had mine for 3 weeks.

EDIT: Ram is at 400mhz.

how come everyone's ram is 400mhz when dell states that its 533mhz?

I think I figured it out after reading. The RAM is at 533, CPU-Z reads it wrong.

I'm assuming you mean give in the keyboard while you're typing?

non-existant.

more the wristwrest.
When resting my wrists on sisters HP on either side of the touchpad I can feel it give/flex.

you won't feel that on this one.

just got mine in today and had to format it. Just had to check the list of processes to see that 44 active processes running and I was pissed. I have one problem guys. I can connect to networks, but it will never get an ip when it tries to renew the ip. Then it will say little or no connectivity. I can get just like 1 page to come up on the internet, but nothing else. If I have the computer plugged into the wall it works fine. Any ideas what that can be??? I noticed that in my network connections box it puts a gateway when I plug it into the wall? Do I just need to set one up myself? Thanks guys

are you running wire & wireless at your house or is it a friends wireless account :)

Well I have a wireless "B" router and I now have 2 wireless computers. I am using the 4 ports on the back for my folding machines. So to answer the question I have wired and wireless in my house. I will try "Friends" connections later on ;)

My 9300 shows a ship date of tomorrow, I'm pretty darn excited!! Went with the Pentium-M 740, 256MB RAM, 60 GB HD, GF6800 Go, 17" WUXGA w/TrueLife, DVD/CDRW drive, XP MCE 2005 w/remote, Intel 2200 wireless, nylon carrying case. Used every code I could get my hands on that would stack (like 3 or 4 in all), came out to ~$1,490'ish after pesky tax. I have a 60 GB 7200 Hitachi that I will slap into the laptop, keeping the one coming in it as a backup in case of a problem. Also will be ordering some Kingston DDR2 SODIMMs this week (if they ever get them back in stock!).

I currently have a Gateway Solo 9550 with a P-3 1.13 in it and a GF2 Go 32MB video and 15.x" inch screen, so this will be a big big step-up for me!

sorry guys, I still can't figure it out

Note, there are some power saving featuers on the network cards... might be something relate to that.

Mine is waiting at home for me. I am swamped until school is done so I will not have time to reformat until this summer, so I hope the bloat isnt as bad as you all say. God I cant wait for work to get over

It was. I fixed it about 20 minutes before reading your post. Thanks for the reply though. Since I formatted I lost the Dell power schemes crap so I went to the driver setting and power management and moved it up to draw more power. It is sweet now.

where is that option exactly? I'm thinking I may have a linux bug related to this,. and I want to get an idea of how it's managing that.

In windows, I go to device manager and properties of the 2200bg card. Then I go to the advanced tab and in those options there is a power management. It was set as default at the lowest setting and I moved it to the highest which will drain the power faster. I can barely play cs:s now :) Me thinks I need a G router :)
