Inspiron 9300 thread

It turns out I just went into the Device Manager in the Control panel and had Windows install its own generic driver, and then the USB worked fine. Just comes to show that even Dell's "essential" drivers aren't very, well, essential.

Not sure what they mean about "Pentium M Processor support" in the driver description though.

i have had my laptop for a while,
and i just tried to hook it up to my tv yesterday using the s-video and it's only black and white
anyone have any suggestions?
i tried with the composite, and the same problem
the driver is set to ntsc , so i can't figure it out

I just got my 9300 last night. The specs are listed in my sig. I can try the S-Video out tonight and post the results. It sounds like a bad connection, either in the TV or the output of the Laptop. I had the same thing happen and it was a broken S-Video connecotr in my TV.

This is a great laptop for the money, ~ $1350, for pretty high end components. It can run F.E.A.R. @ 1280*800 w/ most settings on max w/ 2X AA and 4X Aniso. I will try HL2: Lost Coast, CS:S and BF2 later, but it should tear through those. It gets similar results as Rig #2 in my Sig. Anyways, I noticed on the back left side, onne of the air vent covers is cracked (came that way), I know it doesn't have any effect on performance or anything, but it still bothers me that I paid for new, and got a pre-cracked case. The laptop is awesome, except for this. Is it even worth replacing?

Tried the S-video out and it works fine. All I canthink of is what I posted previously.

you know what sucks. I bought an i9300 about 3-4 months ago. I'm working for HP now. :(

i dont know im workin on their x64 laptops and they arent the 19s

I got my 9300 just a few weeks ago, and I immediately wiped the drive and installed XP Pro. I don't recall ever downloading specific SD card reader drivers from the Dell site... maybe they're built into the chipset drivers (my reader works fine, BTW)?

My i9300:

2.13ghz P-M (1.6 pinmod)
1.25gb ddr
60gb hdd
6800go
WUXGA true life lcd

its a great machine, if a little big.

U need service pack 2 and the chipset drivers for the SD reader to work....
Why do I need Service Pack 2?
Every card reader I know of works natively in SP1

I really want to get the 7800GTX, but I also need to buy a new convertible top for my car

life :(

was just playing call of duty 2 on mine on my lap, and realized it gets really hot, specifically right where the ram is. Anybody else experience this in intense graphic games or under full load? Also what is safe temps for the 6800go? 65c under full load ok? it is OC slightly.

65c under full load is fine, the 6800ultra's hit 90ish (sometimes 100 and throttle).

i9kfangui is a great way to check fan speeds, max temps, and control them too! (yes, i'm bias on it).
