VentureBeat has the lowdown on the new hybrid processor / graphics chip used in the Xbox 360 S(hort).

The results of the Microsoft redesign have been good. Microsoft has used Vejle to create a sleeker and smaller black version of the Xbox 360. Since it was introduced in June, the new Xbox 360 has been the best-selling console in the U.S. With the new chip’s low power usage, the system gets by with a single, much quieter fan. It is whisper quiet, and even in hot environments the fan doesn’t really have to go above 55 percent of its capability.

The fan doesn't really have to go above 55% but it really should. Wisper quiet means nothing. And noone wispers buzzing sounds of tiny fans.

Almost 5 years after launch and the new units are still failing. Talk about a huge design flaw.

I like how this paints a picture of what the future of consoles are going to be.
